In order to preserve the historical and cultural value of the house, it was fully renovated in 2017, based on the restoration of the original appearance. It is open to the public in the form of a homestay. Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka.
