Centrally located historic home, bedroom #1

Vikki has an absolutely beautiful home and we really enjoyed our stay. Honestly, I never rent rooms… we prefer to rent an entire place but with the holidays there wasn’t much available so we decided to take a risk and rent a room from Vikki. Our stay exceeded our expectations on every level. Her rooms are mostly rented by medical professionals. The place is quiet and sparkling clean. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Extended Stay or Getaway in a Vintage Mansion in the Historic District (Tranquility)

ElizabethRating, 5 stars40 months ago
My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick getaway and reserved a two night stay at Blessings. When we booked we knew nothing about Jacksonville and only after I started looking into Blessings MORE did I realize it's an award-winning Bed and Breakfast! Needless to say, the award they received is justified. The home is beautiful inside and out. Their large front porch is my favorite spot. The Innkeeper Gwenn made us feel at home from the moment we stepped inside. Lovely conversation and hospitality. Gwenn told us she's always wanted to be an Innkeeper and you can tell by the way she keeps her home that it's a passion of hers. My favorite meal of our stay was our first breakfast: poached pears with raspberry glaze, coffee, orange juice, fresh waffles with a scoop of ice cream, whipped cream and syrup all next to a big window at a table for two with china and fancy glasses. Decadent? Yes. But isn't a getaway supposed to be? The Tranquility room itself is beautiful. It has a comforting air that let's you know you can put your feet up and relax. The clawed bathtub was glorious. There were multiple robes, extra towels, bath salts and other little details (sewing kit?! fake fireplace that flickers throughout the night?!) that we kept finding around the room. And if that isn't enough, Gwenn offered us milk and cookies at bedtime within 30 minutes of meeting us. Um, yes please. My own mother didn't give me milk and cookies at bedtime! So if you're looking to be treated like you've come home, Gwenn delivers. We'll be back!

Julia Vrooman's Suite - Vrooman Mansion

RobertRating, 5 stars45 months ago
What a great place! The mansion is impressive in history, style, details, amenities. We were greeted at the door and given a tour of the house, which started the stay out on a great note. Available snacks and drinks, beautiful room, with everything needed. The breakfast was excellent and they catered to a vegan request readily. This was a spectacular stay and I recommend Pam's place highly.

Getaway or Extended Stay in our Vintage Mansion in the Historic District (Serenity)

JolieRating, 5 stars31 months ago
I really needed a nice place to stay to break up my drive from Michigan to Missouri. Luckily for me Gwenns place was the midpoint. Really beautiful home, and the room itself was incredibly spacious, with its own sitting room, extremely comfortable bed, and a lot of thoughtful details (snacks, cold water, etc). As a very light sleeper it was also super quiet throughout the entire night. All the homes on this street are very nice and you can really see what this town must have been in its prime. The work that Gwenn and others are doing to preserve these living pieces of art is incredibly important and I genuinely hope that with a percentage of the population now able to work from home, that we shift young people back to these communities where they can bring new life into them and their own social connectedness and mental well being. Gwenn also creates a personalized breakfast which was great. For me Oatmeal, juice and a pot of coffee. I recommend a stay here if you find yourself anywhere near Jacksonville, Illinois.

I really enjoyed my experience at the Vrooman mansion. They paid a lot of attention to detail, I was met on arrival and given a tour of the place, and breakfast was absolutely fantastic. I've stayed in many Airb&bs, and this is one of the very best.
