Family-friendly holiday rentals in Mendocino County

Seamus is the host with the most. He has set the bar high for other hosts! He called to ensure we got checked in ok, had a fire ready to light and a bottle of wine waiting for us. There are clear instructions all throughout the house for how to use amenities and run things. The house is well stocked with everything needed to enjoy the outdoors, cooking, sight seeing info, games, books, binoculars, cozy throw blankets for chilly nights on the deck, even popcorn. The beds and bedding are luxurious. We had everything we needed at our fingertips. By far, the best rental experience for us.

This home is decorated so beautifully, and the kitchen is very well appointed. They really thought of everything, even providing crab cracking tools! The decor is thoughtfully artistic and eclectic, exactly the vibe I'm looking for when staying in Mendo. The hosts were easy to communicate with and very supportive. The views are incredible. I would absolutely consider renting this place again.

We spent a nice long weekend at Joanna's place. The views were spectacular from inside and outside of the house. I watched the sunset the first evening and watched the sunrise the following morning from the comfort of the home, while my other half did so from outside. The house had everything we needed to cook our meals during our stay. We logged into Netflix and watched a few movies during the evenings. The spacious yard is fenced off and was perfect for our pup. Overall, a great stay and we enjoyed our much needed getaway.

We had another wonderful stay at Bob and Barbara’s. Quick beautiful walk to the ocean with surrounding wildlife. The yard is magical, and the dune in the back is perfect to enjoy the sunset. The house is spotlessly clean and feels like home. Everybody was more than comfortable.

Great Views, great place. Beach is amazing. Loved the stay and would recommend it. Well stocked kitchen with cast iron pans that are so much better than the usual rental scratched non-stick pans you find in other places. Just missing an ice cream scoop. Some of the linens were scratchy. I think they were microfiber which were once super soft but when washed repeatedly the synthetic fibers break and become scratchy. The bedding in the TV room we had to stash in the downstairs closet because of the obnoxious smell. I feel like the cleaning service must have spilled a bottle of Febreeze in the wash or something. The hot tub was hot and had a great view. Everything worked and was clean. The rental book was very detailed with directions, how to access the beach and use things with the exception of the downstairs TV which had a baffling smart TV like none I’ve ever used. The upstairs Roku TV worked great. The house was easy to keep a comfortable temp. As far as rental go this

Return guests. This place is stocked with all the things you need to enjoy your stay. It is a well lived in house with character and charm. You feel like you are staying in a real family home. The hot tub is the main selling point which is private and looks out towards the ocean. Being dog friendly is also a huge plus. The private beach is okay, no real difference between this beach and any other public beach in the area. We will return again and again.

Beautiful location right on the ocean. Deck and hot tub were wonderful for enjoying the views and stars at night. House has a king and bunk bed perfect for a family of four. Short drive to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Thanks for a great stay!

Beautiful hours and location. Very relaxing space. The kitchen was well appointed with necessities. Easy to use TV and fireplaces, which we appreciated. The bed was a bit too firm for me. The location couldn't be beat, very quiet.

This was my second visit to Pacific Gem and it did not disappoint. The weather was super stormy and rainy but the sea was fun to watch. The house was beautiful and clean and very comfortable. This is a must stay place when in the Mendocino area. You won’t find another house right on the water and so well maintained. Thanks Cindy for another memorable stay.

I absolutely loved this place! Everything about it really impressed me, we cooked some nice prime rib eye steaks on the BBQ and enjoyed the fire pit at night and plenty of privacy, the home is a very cool design and had plenty of space and it was spotless! So many accommodations like dishes, towels, beach chairs, basically everything you need. The WIFI worked great and the living room was cozy. I’ll be booking again and the Host Mara was very easy to communicate with! I highly recommend staying here when visiting Fort Bragg it’s really a treat!

Helen’s guesthouse is SO clean, comfortable, and charming! I stayed with my dog for a weekend near the lakes - it was fully stocked with everything we needed, and Helen was very accommodating to us. We will be back!

We absolutely loved this place! Private but easy to find, and close to everything. The place was very clean & had everything we needed for our weekend stay. Anne is a great host and easy to contact. Would definitely recommend!!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Main House and would highly recommend it. The location is absolutely perfect - close to local restaurants, coffee shop, shopping etc. The house was impeccably clean with a lot of room. It was just my husband and me but the house would easily be room enough for 6 guests. Lindsey was exceptionally responsive, attentive and friendly. We will be back!!!

Katie is a great host. Unfortunately for me she was not baking her sourdough bread. The stay was peaceful and the scenery is amazing. The outdoor shower is amazing. I enjoyed the camp stove with water kettle for my tea and pour over coffee. The fact that there is no electricity there really doesn’t seem to matter. I never once thought that I needed to plug anything in. Just stare at the stars. There’s no better view!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality - there was a fire waiting for us, a bottle of wine, and fresh eggs. It's truly the perfect escape. The stunning views, combined with the peaceful and private setting, made our stay unforgettable. Marykate was incredibly thoughtful, ensuring we had everything we needed. We spend three blissful nights soaking in the beauty, reading, cooking and just unwinding. It was the perfect retreat and we can't wait to return!

Fred’s place is one of our favorite places to escape to in Clearlake! It’s nestled within a very peaceful and quiet area, with easy access to the outdoors. He’s a very responsive, positive and flexible host.

Starling’s rest is a very spacious for our group of 10. The place is very well stocked with all amenities and kitchen utensils. The beds were comfortable and bedrooms were spacious. The highlight of the space was its location. It is located in a very private location with no neighbors in sight. We couldnt use the pool as it was closed in winter but we enjoyed the hot tub. Will definitely recommend to our friends and family.

This was the perfect space for our weekend getaway with a group of 12 girlfriends. The house has a big open living room, huge deck, and room for everyone around the table for meals. It was peaceful with amazing views and the host was friendly and highly responsive! Definitely recommend it.

Place was great and staff was pleasant! Tawny was super responsive and understanding. The pool there is awesome! The only thing is that the lake is not very good for swimming and there is no close access to it. I should have read more about Clearlake.

Super cute place about half an hour from Anderson Valley wine country. The apartment is in the second story of a barn and is really charming. Tons of character! It's got a full kitchen, comfy bed, and a wood burning stove that keeps the place toasty. The host, Holly, made it very easy for check-in and check-out. We are already thinking about when we might be able to go back!
