This very cozy apartment is newly renovated and located on our small farm where we grow vegetables and fruit trees. The house is made out of rammed earth and stones, placed just a few meters from the gorgeous river of Seixe, surrounded by green hills and fields. The valley is very calm and full of animals such as cows, horses, goats, sheep, donkeys and pigs. In the hot days you can take a cooling dip in the river or visit the amazing beach only 6 km away!
“The accommodation is really great location, if you want to escape the noise and everyday life, is just right. Everything is there what you need and above all, it is very cozy. For the journey you definitely need a car, the road there is sometimes very bumpy, so better to drive slowly. The beach is about 15 minutes by car and the beach is really fantastic.”
Completely remodeled beach house, offering a relaxed, chilled environment for family and friends. The house is just 1 min away from the beach, and you can hear the sound of the waves all throughout inside it. You will love the experience!! :-)
“This lovely house really is a paradise by the ocean. We thought we might travel around a bit while we were staying here but instead we spent the whole week here and only here, there was no need to go anywhere else! Everything you need for chilling out and unwinding is all at the doorstep. Inês, the owner is a perfect host. She was always thoughtful and available and ready to help us out with our questions, went out of her way to give us good advice and made sure we were happy. Check-in and check-out was really easy. In fact, all the locals we met, including the neighbours, were friendly, generous and welcoming. The house is a pretty Portuguese cottage, done out in a simple, chic beach style, and all the modern amenities you need, with a super power shower, fluffy towels, a sunny courtyard at the back to wash down and dry out your wetsuits and even a hairdryer. There's no wifi but we didn't miss it at all - why waste time on the internet when you will miss out on the scenery outside! For any essential internet needs, our mobile phones had a good download signal from the house. It is only a two minutes walk to the beach, and what a stunning beach. I'm Australian and I have high standards about what I consider to be a good beach and this one is up there with the best - a blue flag rating, clear clean water, a wide expanse of clean golden sand that never feels too crowded, surf for every level of skill plus life-guards on the beach every day to make sure you keep safe in the water. You can hire beach beds and umbrellas or take your own. Behind the beach, there is a wide shallow river, with a sandy bottom and sandy shore, great for little kids to play in and for paddle boarding and kayaking. You can hire surf boards (short and long boards, soft or hard) - paddle boards (inflatable or hard), boogie boards and kayaks from the beach shack nearby. We brought our own wetsuits because the Atlantic is about 20 degrees while we were there but we only used them for when we were in the water for a long time, for surfing, otherwise we went swimming without them. You can hire wetsuits at the beach as well if you need them. Within one minute's walk of the house there are three great cafes/bars. No need to drive anywhere to have fresh coffee, pastries and squeezed juice in the morning, and for lunch or in the evening a choice of great local seafood, tapas, wine, beer and cocktails and gin. The bars are cool places to hang out, good music, not rowdy or rough. Praia do Odeceixe is magical, a laid back, easygoing place to forget about work, destress and enjoy. If you want somewhere where you can go to sleep at night listening to the sound of the ocean, watch the spectacular sunsets while you take a romantic stroll on an empty beach after the day visitors have left and feel like you have the beach almost entirely to yourself, then this is for you. We are definitely coming back. Thank you Inês!”
"Casa do Mar" is a traditional house from Algarve, carefully decorated in a rustic and comfortable atmosphere located in the picturesque village Odeceixe, in the heart of Costa Vicentina, Europe's largest coastal natural park. This is the deal starting point to discover all the charms of this unique place.
“We were a family of four (mum, dad, 3 year old and 8 month old) that stayed at Casa do Mar for 8 nights. We fell in love with Odeceixe and the surrounds. The location of Casa do Mar is perfect. We preferred that side of town to the village on the bottom. The sunsets were soul soothing. The view to the windmill just so unique and special. The tapas restaurant Altinho practically next door - a fantastic find. We also enjoyed the couple of cafes up the road for our morning coffee with nata. Our 3 year old adored the little train that went from the cafe up the road direct to the beach and back. What a way to travel to the beach - just perfect. The train services the town in July August and September only from what I can gather. If you drive - it's only 5 minutes and a very scenic drive, or an even better walk. We used our comfy base of Casa do Mar to visit nearby beaches at Zambujeira do Mar (we drove right to the porto de pesca and found a fantastic restaurant at the end of the track high above the port), Vila Nova de mils fonte, Aljezur and more. Ricardo couldn't be nicer. He has a great love for his region and country and he is genuinely happy to share his little golden nuggets of information and travel tips. Life in the village is very traditional yet everyone is welcoming to the tourists. Many hikers passing through on the fisherman's trail. It wasn't possible for us to do that walk with kids but we'll certainly come back in the future to do it. WE were able to walk some of it from the car park high above Odeciexe beach. That beach was so nice. The river beach was a great option for our 3 year old. Our favourite thing about the house was the outside BBQ and seating area. It was where we snuggled up over a wine each evening. Very cosy. Very memorable. We hope to visit again sometime.”
