“Great experience! The hosts are very responsive, and the little cabin has everything you need! SO SPARKLING CLEAN! The private port-a-potty is so clean it seems like it's brand new--even equipped with a solar light and only about 25 yards behind the cabin. We showered using the rainwater barrel and hose because the property is extremely private. No one else in sight. Beautiful views of the mountains. They even provide firewood/kindling and awesome firepit, and water for washing. The cabin is equipped with a makeshift "sink" comprised of one hanging bucket with spigot (that we refilled from the rainwater barrel) and drain bucket. They even have a powerstrip for the fan they provide, charging phones, and the coffee maker inside. We brought our own sheets and bedding/pillows and were glad we did (double/queen bed). Only a short drive to the Crabtree Falls hike! And our dog loved it! Our advice: bring headlamps, bedding, towels, propane grill, and drinking water.”
A private apartment in the hills of Nelson County is located in an addition to the owner's rustic home. The property is surrounded by forest and stream with a mountain view. The Blue Ridge Mountains, the James River, Wintergreen, Infinity Downs , and Charlottesville are all within easy driving distance. A great rural location, perfect for nature lovers and birdwatchers. The owners are a resource for information on the area and can provide recommendations on attractions and activities.
“WOW! Pictures don't do it justice. My husband and I stayed here for two nights as a little "babymoon" before our daughter is born next month--we just wanted somewhere peaceful outside the city to relax, and this more than delivered. The location is gorgeous--I wish we'd had more time to explore the trails near the house. The house itself is extremely well appointed--the whole space is well laid out with top notch appliances, killer A/C, and very thoughtful decor. The sun streaming in the windows while cooking breakfast in the mornings was a joy. Not too far from nearby attractions--we did a morning tour at the Quarry Gardens, visited some wineries and breweries, and even went strawberry picking at Critzer Farm. But if we'd just hung out in the cabin and wandered around the woods, I think we'd have been just as happy! Barbara and Allen are extremely friendly--she even had the A/C set really low for our arrival because she knew I was pregnant. I guess the only caution I have is that, well, this is in the woods--there are a lot of bugs outside, and you should be pretty vigilant to keep them from getting in, especially at night--common sense goes a long way here! Cell reception is also spotty, but we didn't mind. Overall fantastic value. Thank you again!”

“Delores' beautiful cabin exceeded our expectations in every possible way! My husband and I were looking for a Plan B for our honeymoon, as the COVID-19 crisis made our original plans impossible. We were thrilled to find a small cabin within a few hours of our house. Dee was so helpful and responsive as we worked to finalize our plans! Once we got to the cabin, we found everything immaculately clean, with so many small touches that made us feel right at home. We loved the hot tub and spent several luxurious evenings in it listening to the night noises of the surrounding forest. We also loved having our morning coffee on the porch and watching the mist rise off the mountains in the distance! Other reviewers have mentioned the steep stairs to the downstairs bedroom. This was not a problem for us, and we used the porch stairs as a way to get up or down to the bedroom if we were carrying things. However anyone with mobility issues should probably plan to not use the lower bedroom. There are so many other great things I could say about this place - how well stocked the kitchen was, the great choice of puzzles and games in the living room, the peace and quiet....but really, the only way to really take in the full awesomeness of Dee's cabin is to book it and see for yourself!”
