Monthly Rentals in Platanes

Our discovery in Akoumia of a great Greco-Cretan family moved us. This is Dimitra and Costas. The reception was beyond our expectations. We found a place with everything you need when we arrived: kitchen, bathroom, sleeping, bath towels... The food taken from the restaurant, managed by Dimitra, comes from the farm-culture-breeding (goats, sheep), managed by Costas. It's organic. Here's what we find: wine, raki, goat milk, meat, vegetables... healthy quality products. Dithyrambic is the word not usurped. Akoumia is a typical Cretan village. 3 churches in a 200-meter course! A car is necessary for visiting, shopping. The beaches, very pretty, are twenty minutes away. We lived in a novel by Kazantsakis the Greek. We loved Manolis’ house. It is impossible to describe. This house is an experience. He and his father built it on the 200 year old remains of an old farm house. It is the perfect balance of experiencing life a century ago while enjoying modern amenities. We highly recommend you book this for the truly unique experience. Might be difficult for anyone who has trouble with stairs. Here are a few highlights: Free parking 75 meters away. 2.5 bathrooms, one bathtub and one shower. Nice, functional little kitchen. We did some cooking and had all the basics. Free wine and Raki. Two tavernas within 100 meters. Very quiet Truly eco with solar heated water with an electric boiler for backup. Good WiFi Lots to do in the area. We had a great hike over at Patso Gorge Manolis usually responded immediately when we messaged him. Best of all. Manolis’ mom brought us breakfast treats in the morning. Here’s a challenge if you stay there. See if you can find the wine cellar. Have fun!!

Lovely private place with terrace. Spotless clean and fully equipped kitchen. Maria is simply an amazing host!

There is no way I can say enough great things about Gina and her place in the small amount of words given. She is the warmest, most generous host ever! The location is just above the beautiful village of Spili. The home is charming and has everything you need. She gives a breakfast of cereal and yogurt. Never had a host do that before. She leaves brownies and fruit in the room. Great beds! Bathroom shower is hot and strong! Bath towels large and fluffy. Gina has thought of everything! She has a washer and dryer. The home has a sitting room downstairs with a TV and lots of DVDs. She has maps, books and her own recommendations available. The outdoors has 2 terraces, an abundance of flowers and fruit trees. It’s in a very private setting and evenings are quiet for a good sleep. To sum it all up, when travelling in this area, Gina’s place is a must stay! I highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again! Thanks, Gina for a wonderful stay!
