“If you are looking for serenity, beauty, peace and calm, this is everything you could ask for. The world may be in chaos, but you won't know it when you walk out the door and gaze at your surroundings. We never tired of the breathtaking view of the valley. We never tired of the horses grazing, or of our canine "friend" Colt coming to visit. We anticipated our nights outside listening to the fire crackle and hearing nothing but the trees in the wind. The house had absolutely everything for our entire family. Our kids were thrilled with the swings and basketball hoop and loved riding their bikes up and down the gravel road. Inside, there were plenty of puzzles, games and crafts. My son woke up every day and played on the grand piano, and often played games on the pool table. My daughter had so many quiet nooks to read. There was space for everyone to be together, or to be alone. There was space to check in with the office via Wifi, or to just relax and forget everything back home. Frankly, I miss having my tea on the porch and rocking on the rocking chair. Marci, ever the superstar host, was spectacular in being accommodating and communicating promptly. Even the neighbors down the road demonstrated true West Virginia hospitality. Come to Hillsboro and enjoy Highland Trace and all its amenities to the fullest. Our stay will be remembered with complete joy.”
Our one-room cottage with river access sits a few hundred feet above the Greenbrier River, with lots of privacy. Queen bed, pullout couch with double bed, table and chairs, AC. Location is perfect for float trips, biking the Greenbrier River Trail, and hiking --10 minutes from Watoga State Park trails and fishing; 15 minutes from Cranberry Glades; an hour from Lewisburg, WV -- voted coolest town in American a few years ago. Our driveway fronts the river but not the cottage itself.
“The place was exactly what we were looking for. It is secluded, quiet, clean, and included the amenities we required. Carter saw us after we arrived. This was my third and most southern stop on my Allegheny Highlands vacation. Each morning several deer passed through the yard to browse in their way to the woods. The fawns still had their spots and the young buck were still in velvet. We wished we could have stayed longer and are looking forward to returning on a Fall stay.”
Attention! This listing is for a full walk-in basement only Welcome to our lodge in the pines. Great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids) Located in the country. Very close to historic Lewisburg, the Greenbrier River trail and other local attractions. We are approximately an hour from the popular ski destination, Snowshoe.
“House: Solid spot. Its the basement of their home with separate walk out entrance. Gave us complete privacy and made everything very easy. Everything was clean and plenty of room. Full kitchen was nice to have. Location: we were in town for working at the greenbrier and wasn't bad at all. About 35 minutes each way but really only 2 roads. The town of lewisburg is the closest area for restaurants/wal mart etc and thats about 20 minutes away. So if you want rural, this place is perfect.”
