A remote cottage in the heart of a working forest. Nestled in a clearing 3.5 miles along a track, our Byre is a great place for those wishing to get away from the hustle of modern life; no wifi, mobile phone signal or TV. A great location hidden midway between the Ettrick and Borthwick valleys ideal for cycling, walking and watching the wildlife. With the Forestry Commission as our only neighbours we are creating our own 3 acre smallholding and are happy to welcome interested travellers.
“If you want natural beauty and to be remote then this is a place like no other. The forest walks are like scenes from a fairy tale and it is magical.....shooting stars at night as well. The accomodation is a wonderful place to chill out with stunning views and a cosy log burner. Luxurious bed and a contemporary feel to a converted farm building. An eco holiday with natural spring water and solar power. The host's are so welcoming and very knowledgeable about the forest. They gave us good advice about where to go and what to see while we were there. Thank you Barbara and Peter for sharing your amazing home with us and we will be back for another stay at some point.”
Welcome to Fingland Farm, a rural Scottish smallholding nestled within the beautiful rolling hills of the Esk Valley, close to Eskdalemuir. The area is known for its huge scenery with stunning walks along with a wealth of archeological discoveries. Fingland Farm Holiday let just north of Eskdalemuir, is a totally self contained cottage, providing a quiet retreat away from the chaos of everyday life, with beautiful walks and discoveries from the first step outside.
“The cottage at Fingland Farm was beautifully furnished with everything you could need, plus some little thoughtful touches that made you feel like a special guest. We arrived late to a warm welcome from Vero who left us to settle ourselves in, and was happy to chat and share local tips for walking and places to visit the next day. The cottage was toasty warm with a log fire should you need it (Bob dropped by with extra wood for us) and the bed was so comfortable we slept soundly. The location is outstanding, lots of walking, historical sites to visit close by and so, so quiet. After a day of walking we couldn't wait to return to cook in the well equipped kitchen. Everything about the cottage was outstanding. We absolutely recommend you stay here.”
Remote, hidden cottage, looking out to beautiful Scottish Borders hills, and right next to Meadshaw Forest, with miles of secluded forest and riverside walks on your doorstep. A short drive up a good forest track, brings you to Meadshaw Farm, Roberton, Hawick where you will find the cottage. Relax in the cosy, well equipped cottage, or spend an evening with a glass of wine in front of the fire in the lovely, old shepherd's hut.
“Our family had a wonderful Christmas stay at Daniele's place. Wish we could stay there longer! There are friendly farm animals, zip wire and trampoline for kids (and grown-ups!), games and books to play and read by the fire, forest walks and starry skies. Several lovely towns are just a short drive away. The cottage is warm, cozy and comfortable and Daniele made us feel very welcome. Thank you so much!”
