  • Everything was wonderful ; this was a memorable location during our ventured through the Virginia countryside.

  • Anne's hospitality is amazing! There was absolutely nothing we lacked while there. She anticipates and provides a guest's every need. Anne thoughtfully leaves detailed instructions about where to find what you might need in the cottage. You will leave feeling pampered and refreshed.

  • This is an excellent cottage for a small family weekend away from the city. Cozy and historic with a wonderful ambience.

  • Everything about this trip exceeded our expectations. Anne goes out of her way to make every aspect of your stay as seamless and comfortable as possible. We especially appreciated access to the outdoor grill on the lovely patio decorated with twinkly lights, and had the best night ever just grilling, relaxing, turning on the fireplace in the cottage and watching netflix on the flatscreen TV.

    Emma2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy and gorgeous cottage. The history behind it and the main house is incredibly interesting. It's location is absolutely beautiful set next to a stream with a pasture behind it. The kitchen was fully stocked and made meals in the cottage easy to create. We appreciated that the dishes were run through the dish washer instead of us hand washing them. In other air b&bs we have had to rewash dishes before using them due to uncleanliness, so it was great to know the dishes were fully cleaned and disinfected between guests. The seasonal decorations were lovely and made the place feel like home. The fireplace was the winner in our stay and was incredibly cozy. We visited the local Ramseur battlefield and National Historic Park of Cedar Creek and Belle Grove. There are great local places to eat nearby including a brewery and a Doggery (and burgers). We also hiked the Buzzard Ridge trail about 30 minutes from the cottage.

Nestled in the wooded hillsides of the George Washington National Forest, Santi's Lost Stream provides a serene retreat from the stresses of urban life and is the perfect base to enjoy all the area has to offer from hiking to cycling, and more. Completely renovated in 2018, this classic A-frame cabin offers sleeping room for up to six, and plenty of living/lounging space. Booked for your dates? Check out our cousin cabin High View Hideaway at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/39899541.
Santi’s Lost Stream boasts a fully-equipped open plan kitchen and spacious living/dining area that leads out onto a large deck nestled among the treetops, perfect for morning coffee or sunset drinks. The open plan dining area features a convertible dining table that can seat up anywhere from two to six people, as well as a breakfast bar with additional seating for two. The master bedroom features a queen bed and large picture window with forest views, as well as an ensuite bathroom with walk-in rain shower and heated floors. The separate guest bedroom also offers a queen bed and hand-made shelving unit that provides generous storage space for all your getaway garb. The loft snug is the perfect place to cuddle up with a book, play a game, or watch a movie, and also provides additional sleeping space with an ultra-comfy queen futon. The cabin has two full bathrooms furnished with lux quick dry towels and toiletries, including soap, shampoo, and conditioner. The ensuite master bathroom boasts a custom vintage vanity, heated floors, and spacious glass enclosed rain shower. While Santi’s Lost Stream is a the perfect place to fully unplug and unwind, we understand the pressures of modern day and the need to stay connected may not allow you to do so, so we’ve wired the cabin with fiber optic high-speed internet and Wi-Fi access, as well as a large screen LG smart TV with access to Netflix, Hulu, and more, ideal for cozying up on the comfy sofa to catch your favorite movie, sporting event, or television series. The cabin sits on 5 acres of wooded hillside grounds frequented by all forms of wildlife. It’s not uncommon to wake up to deer peering through the bedroom window or enjoying a midday snack among the lush greenery. Firewood: If you plan to use the fire pit, we definitely recommend picking up a couple small bundles of wood en route. The Garden Market and Kerr's carry them for $5-6 per bundle and you can find spots on the way that sell bundles by the "honor" system. Please note that as our cabin is located in a national forest it is prohibited to bring firewood from outside the region into the forest. Please also note that this is hunting country, so do not be surprised if you hear shooting in the area when hunting season is open (November 24 − December 13).
Within easy reach of Santi's Lost Stream are a wide array of trails that offer both gentle walks and serious hikes through the wilds and wonder of the George Washington National Forest and neighboring Lost River State Park. A popular spot is Trout Pond recreation area, a short 10-minute drive away, and offers scenic walking trails, canoeing, fishing, and swimming (in warmer months). A slightly farther trek (30-minute drive) will bring you to Lost River State Park, a great spot for both the young and old(er) adventurists to enjoy. The nearby town of Wardensville offers several shopping and dining options. Make a stop at the Lost River Trading Post to stock up on craft brews and local wine, and peruse their impressive selection of local products and amazingly curated antiques and curios. On the weekend, pay a visit the Garden Market and Bakery to enjoy some of their farm-fresh produce and delicious baked goods. (Our favorite is the Cowboy Cookie!) Pop into Ripples in Time, a precious little antique shop, to hunt some their hidden treasures. The quaint village of Lost River (15-minute drive from the cabin) offers a few dining and shopping options, as well. Enjoy local produce, ice cream, and gifts at the Lost River General Store or grab a bite to eat at the Lost River Grill. And if you seeking a relaxation and wellness experience, book a session at the Lost River Yoga Studio. The popular Guesthouse Kitchen & Bar just outside Lost River (12-minute drive from cabin) is a great spot to enjoy a lovely meal after a long day out adventuring. This locally-owned and operated staple of Lost River establishment offers farmhouse style, American inspired dishes, and libations in a comfortable modern farmhouse setting. Highly recommend booking in advance. A bit further a far from Wardensville and the Lost River Valley, there are a range of activities including hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and seasonal skiing to enjoy.

  • What a fantastic space! My girlfriend and I spent a weekend here and could not have been more impressed. The pictures do not do the house justice. The hosts’ have thought of everything you will need to make your stay memorable. Stop looking at other Airbnb’s; this is a mountain hideaway house you are looking for!

  • Buckeye Adventures place exceeded all my expectations! The place was stylish and super cozy. The owners thought of everything when it came to supplying all the bathroom essentials and kitchen essentials. As a traveler you wouldn’t need to bring much but clothing to feel at home here. Corn hole and fire pit outside for entertainment. Owners were quick to respond via message and cared that everything was going smoothly on the trip. I would definitely stay here again!

Our rustic river cabin is just feet from the beautiful Cacapon river. We have a huge wrap around screen porch. The beds are comfy, the kitchen is well stocked and the bathroom was completely remodeled in April of 2019. Pets are welcome to join you. We have fishing poles and 3 kayaks (available to rent), as well as a bbq grill. There are Adirondack chairs by the river bank for your enjoyment and a fire pit. This cabin is not secluded. The river parallels the road and you will hear vehicle noise.
Our cabin, built in 1935, started life as a hunting cabin. It has been updated since then, including a bathroom remodel in April of 2019, but still maintains its rustic charm. The fireplace is large and provides a romantic ambience. The wrap around porch, with a porch swing and several rockers, is the perfect place to sit and watch the river.
The Cacapon River parallels Route 259 (a 2 lane road), so you will hear traffic noise. Our cabin doesn't sit right on the road, but this is not a secluded cabin in the woods. It is really conveniently located for a trip in to Wardensville or access to hiking areas.
  • We have stayed in Jeana’s cabin many times and our latest visit did not disappoint. The cabin has a fantastic fireplace that makes it a really great atmosphere and it is stylishly decorated with second hands and antiques. Jeana let us know about bar-ish which is every Saturday night at The Trading Post in Wardensville and we stopped in for a few drinks and games. We really appreciated that she let us know about it ahead of time so we could plan to go. Overall it was a great time as always. If you’re on the fence about whether to book this cabin...just do it...you won’t regret it!

    Amy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! The cabin was a beautiful West Virginia original with modern amenities. Fireplace, fire pit and the huge screened-in porch overlooking a beautiful stretch of river were amazing. We’re already planning our next trip back.

    Kaylee2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • remote feel, but plenty close by; great little town of Wardensville; loved the fire pit by the river; felt like Laura Ingles Wilder sitting by the fireplace at night!

    Bonnie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I always have a great time at this cabin. Very relaxing and cozy. :D

    Todd2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jeana’s cabin is the perfect escape for a nice, quiet weekend away. Jeana was extremely responsive and accommodating. The cabin is cozy and comfortable, and is situated nicely on the river. The fireplace is amazing, and we pretty much camped out in front of it and read and watched movies all weekend. The cabin is very clean and has everything you need if you want to stay in and cook for yourselves as options are relatively limited in the immediate area.

    Kyle2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a great cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway! It only took 1 1/2 hours from Nova. If you are looking to reconnect with nature, hike, walk up and down the river bed, fish, have bon-fires, cook on the bbq, get the dog out, this is your place. It’s rustic, but perfect in every way. Major bonuses were: wrap-around screened in porch overlooking the river, in-door wood fireplace with as much wood as you can fathom, outdoor fire pit with chairs overlooking the river, charcoal grill with everything you need...comfy bed...Jeana really put a lot of time into making this an easy and curated experience.

    Becky2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was amazing, beautifully positioned over the Cacapon river and very homey inside. The kitchen was extremely well-stocked and blankets and firewood were abundant. We enjoyed the grill and fire pit. Perfect for a cabin getaway, no complaints and highly recommended!

    Jeremy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a wonderful get-away. The views of the river and the firepit are lovely. The porch provided an unexpectedly wonderful place to hang out-- especially for our two kitties. They were soo happy there. We visited between Christmas and New Year's and the cabin had a little decorated potted tree and a banner across the fireplace to add some holiday cheer. That, the ample firewood for the beautiful fireplace, the well-equipped kitchen, the updated bathroom, and the comfy bed with feather duvet really made it incredibly homey and relaxing for me and my daughter. Will definitely be back.

The Dome is over 800 sqft with an 8ft tall ceiling at the middle.  The Dome is equipped with a zipper door and has a canvas cover with windows and screens and features a large bay window that allows views of Little North Mountain and a full view of the farm.  There is a solar exhaust fan and wooden floors as well as a queen bed with linens and some causal seating.  There is no electricity or running water and no WIFI. We do provide solar-powered and battery-powered lights.
The Dome is located in a large grassy area with ample space near a creek.  You can pitch additional tents (not provide) near the Dome for $10 each. There is easy road access and on-site parking.  You are welcome to explore the farm along the mowed paths.  Please be aware that we do have cattle on the farm, so do not open any gates and stay clear of the fences as they may well be electrified. Outside, there is a fire pit and seating area as well as a grill and a dining area.  Some firewood is provided and there is additional firewood available for purchase on-site.  We also provide complimentary local beer or wine, as requested.  Lastly, we are in the process of building modern outhouse near-by with a toilet and sink and a solar shower. In the meantime we have a very clean portapotty but no shower facilities. Disclaimer: If it has rained a lot in the past few days the area will be muddy, please plan accordingly!
  • Our weekend at the dome was amazing. Remy and Jeremy are wonderful, responsive hosts. The dome was very cozy and comfortable despite the rain and low temps. We took advantage of the fire pit, the grill (with delicious steaks from the farm), and Remy's decadent popovers for breakfast. Can't wait to go back!

    Bryan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Dome! It was such a cozy spot and the hosts were very responsive to any questions. Thank you!

    Greg2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing space. Decorated beautifully and secluded. It’s such a romantic space. We had a great time just drinking beer around the fire. I’d highly suggest this place for anyone just looking to get away :)

    Jack2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I came here to celebrate our engagement, and was a surprise for her. We had a great time and loved the dome. It was warm and cozy and loved how pet friendly it was—our dog loved running around the fields! There were some thoughtful touches that made our stay even better. We will be back!

    Laura2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the dome despite the cold (mid 30s) and wet weather. The dome is entirely waterproof and the heater and blankets keep it warm enough. Perhaps the most thoughtful touch was the carbon monoxide detector (I had brought my own just in case)! Good to have when using gas in an enclosed space. Highly recommend first arriving during daylight hours if possible. The entire area is quite dark at night, and if it’s been cloudy the solar lights won’t be on! Watch out for the fence :) The dome is near a small gravel road but quite far from the busy highway. An occasional car would drive by but it didn’t bother us. Overall it is a great place to stay when you’d like a short quiet getaway. The dome is quite large and has plenty of thoughtful amenities. The flashlights and lanterns were especially helpful. The fire pit and grill area look nice, and we hope to return when it isn’t raining to use them! Remy was available if needed and responds to messages quickly. Go check out the dome!

    Logan2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Relaxing weekend getaway despite unseasonable cold temperatures! We enjoyed the comfortable and warm bed, picking up BBQ from New Star Market for a picnic outside the dome, a fun library book sale downtown, browsing the Strasburg Emporium, and a trip to Star in the Valley Estate Winery with our dog. The Christmas decorations in the dome were a fun surprise! Host was very responsive to all communication. We can't wait to be back when it is a little warmer!

    Reagan2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Dome is an incredible space to get away. There are so many little touches to make you feel at home and comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something a little different

    Sean2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Dome was the perfect getaway from the city. It was a chilly night, but with the propane heater and extra blankets we were cozy and warm all night. We really appreciated all of the thoughtful touches and quick responses. We definitely recommend visiting Star in the Valley Estate Winery less than 10 minutes away. It was the perfect addition to the star gazing theme.

  • This cabin was absolutely perfect. The space was clean, incredibly stylish, and as cozy as we could have hoped. The location was beautiful and remote. I couldn't think of a better way to spend a weekend away from civilization, including wifi and cell service. Maureen was very responsive, and her cabin included so many great little touches. Even on the last day we noticed things they'd done to make their cabin special. Highly recommend for a getaway.

    Marc2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was really great!

    Andrew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little cabin! We have stayed in many cabins around the area and this was the best one yet. All of the amenities were just a little better and you could see the thoughtful touches all over the cabin. We are already talking about our next visit.

    Brian2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin in a beautiful area. Very well thought out for the traveler, easy to get to, great location. This cabin is obviously well loved and cared for by the owners and that heart shows in the space. Highly recommended if you are looking for a place in this area. Great space for a digital detox too! I was grateful to be fully off the cell phone/internet “grid.”

    Jen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little cabin in the woods. The personal touches like fresh fir and a welcome note placed upon the bath robes and the fact that this quaint little cabin is stocked with everything you would ever need, makes the experience unforgettable. I cannot recommend this Airbnb or Maureen enough. Perfect weekend away from everyday life.

    Cody2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is a lovely little getaway stocked with just about everything you will need, including lots of nice personal touches, some fun books and games, etc. The location was great for my interests - close to lots of good hiking trails, in a woodsy setting, but still close to good roads and easily accessed from DC. The only real drawback was the lack of wifi and cell service (which is clearly described in the listing), which made navigating to hiking trails, among other things, challenging. Being off the grid can be nice, but make sure you are more prepared than I was and download or print out everything you might need!

    Laura2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful get away place! No Verizon cell service in the area makes for a nice get away. It is a good idea to print out directions before driving here as you will lose cell service about 10 miles before you reach the cabin. The cabin was very clean and had a fully stocked kitchen and the bathroom had plenty of toiletries. I think the best hiking spot is at Lost State Park (white Oak Trail leads to Cranny Crow Overlook).

    Elizabeth2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and cozy cabin in the woods. The cabin was clean, comfortable, easy to find/open, and had everything we needed plus more! Many thoughtful touches that made our stay even more relaxing than we had imagined. Very close to nice hiking at trout pond. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again!

  • I had a wonderful time! Everything exceeded my expectations of the place. The cabin was perfect inside and out. It is situated in a peaceful setting with gorgeous views of the mountains. You can breath clean air anywhere you turn. I loved to take walks around the area! Philip, the property Manager, was very welcoming, and always responded quickly to my inquires. I felt welcomed from the beginning to the end. I will definitely be back. If you are looking to have a relaxing week in a little piece of heaven, this is the place to book! (This is a Hidden Jewel).

  • Phillip was very communicative and helpful throughout our stay. We booked the cabin for a work retreat, and it was exactly what we hoped for.

  • Su's place is beautiful and very peaceful . Philip is wonderful host and is always available to help. Su has a great collection of books. I would recommend this place to anybody who is looking for serene place to relax or meditate. Thanks Su and Philip to let me stay at you place. I will hopefully be back next year!

  • An absolutely amazing and beautiful place to stay. One of the most peaceful areas and a beautiful view to go along with it. Philip was wonderful in making sure we had everything we needed.

    Lauren2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • I was taking a class in the vicinity, and wanted a place for quiet self reflection. The cabin is a bit on the small side and somewhat remote, but very cosy and private. Waking up each day to watch the sun rise over the mountains was icing on the top.

    Nathaniel2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our second time here and we loved this beautiful mountain stay just as much as the first time! If you want privacy, this is the place to stay. If you want fresh mountain air, beautiful sunsets, sunrises, and peace and quiet, you have found the right place in this beautiful mountain and cabin. My only suggestion is to go slow on the gravel roads (15mph)...I was lovingly chastised for kicking up too much dust, by an elderly gentleman, and he got no argument from me, as he was 100% right. I was low on gas (should have gotten it when we were in town the night before) so was in a hurry to get to a gas station. I am glad he stopped me as I only hope to be surrounded by love on this mountain. The wildlife was wonderful to see...bucks, does, and fawn were a daily occurence. Cannot say enough about this wonderful place, and the host, Phillip, is such a kind soul, and such a joy to talk to. He is very prompt in his replies and even stops in once a week to see how you are enjoying your stay. This wonderful cabin is 5 star for it's beautiful scenery, serenity, and peace.

  • Gorgeous little cabin tucked away in the beautiful "Wild and Wonderful" mountains of West Virginia. It was the perfect spot for a 2nd honeymoon, secluded and romantic! The view is absolutely breathtaking. Location Location Location.... complete and total "Zen." We overpacked, as there are so many amenities we didn't need a fraction of the items that we brought with us. The cabin is Pristine and includes everything imaginable; it is extremely well appointed and stocked to: live, cook, relax, sleep, and bathe. Our host Philip made our experience truly memorable. He greeted us with a big smile and a bigger basket packed with an assortment of fruits, cheese and crackers, he is such a sweet and caring host! Check-in was seamless. Philip took the time to show us what we needed to know on how to operate everything. If you enjoy wildlife this is the place for you. It is located on a dead end road on top of a mountain. Deer are everywhere!! We were sitting on our covered front porch watching families (a herd) grazing, Bucks, Does and an abundant amount of fawns. We saw Fox Eagles Hawks.... so amazing. The pictures do not do this cabin justice. We could easily see several mountain ranges away and a blazing sunset every evening. One afternoon we saw a storm approaching approximately 50 miles away, what a sight to behold mother nature arriving, the view kept changing as the moments were ticking by. A tourist hint: a must see in the area is located in Romney West Virginia The Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad Train tour. Tip: Spring for the 1st class ticket you will get an incredible meal prepared by a chef comfortable seating and air conditioning as well as access to the entire train. We would like to thank our host Philip for this serene memorable week. We can't wait to come back for another week, actually we would like to experience all 4 seasons on top of that West Virginia mountain.

A slightly farther trek (25-minute drive) will bring you to Lost River State Park, a great spot for both the young and old(er) adventurists to enjoy. The quaint village of Lost River (10-minute drive from the cabin) offers a few dining and shopping options, as well. Enjoy local produce, ice cream, and gifts at the Lost River General Store or grab a bite to eat at the Lost River Grill. And if you seeking a relaxation and wellness experience, book a session at the Lost River Yoga Studio. The popular Guesthouse Kitchen & Bar just outside Lost River (8-minute drive from cabin) is a great spot to enjoy a lovely meal after a long day out adventuring. This locally-owned and operated staple of Lost River establishment offers farmhouse style, American inspired dishes, and libations in a comfortable modern farmhouse setting. Highly recommend booking in advance. • We had a great stay at the High View Hideaway! It was perfect for a cozy romantic weekend. The cabin was extremely clean and decor was thoughtful and trendy. The wood stove is a great addition to the ambiance as well. We hope to stay again sometime - definitely in the summer so we can enjoy the deck and outdoor space! Loved it!

    Annika2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was perfect, secluded, quiet and private. It was clean and full of amenities. Close to a lot of outdoor activities. The screened porch and outdoor deck was a nice feature. Its a cozy place to spend some relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Rick2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautiful. It was perfect for my girlfriend and me. Definitely explore the immediate area around the cabin and hike the nearby trails to Rockcliff Lake and Trout Pond. You can also hike along Trout Run Creek. If you are really into hiking I would suggest checking out Big Schloss Overlook. There are a couple of trails that lead up to the overlook and the view is absolutely worth the uphill climb. At night take advantage of the awesome wood stove that is in the cabin.

    Jordan2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great cozy spot tucked in the woods. Easy to access a collection nice hikes in the area and a great spot to relax and read when not exploring. On a warmer weekend the deck seems like the ideal place to enjoy downtime outside.

  • One of the best Airbnbs we’ve ever been to. Great touches like breakfast items, cookware etc. The only sad thing is we weren’t able to spend much time in the living room as it’s upstairs and there was no way to get our 90lbs dog there.

    Anna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great location — clean, stylish, and comfortable home. Particularly appealing outdoor spaces.

    Maury2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible stay at the Hideaway this winter. It was just as expected... although the thoughtful breakfast items really exceeded our expectations. The location has a really nice view looking out at the valley and is nestled right within a prime cabin community in Lost River cabin, just down the road from the Guest House if you’re looking to go out for dinner or a drink. It’s about a 25m drive to the Trading Post and Farmers Market if you want to pick anything up - highly recommend visiting both during your stay. We hiked Trout Pond and OMG, it was such a gorgeous winter day and the trail views were surreal. We love that their place is dog-friendly and welcome our little fur babies who enjoy the outdoors just as much as we do. The bed was super comfy and we actually want to buy the same duvet cover for our home because we’re fans—shout out to West Elm ;) All in all, for a cozy winter weekend getaway, it was perfect for us—we could stay warm indoors for a lazy day or head out for a nearby hike and absorb the natural beauty. The Hideaway is Airbnb done right—we’ll definitely be back!

  • Serious 5-star place. Amenities, extra touches, style, location. Easy check in and check out. Great communication. We were in the middle of no where but still close to town for snacks and groceries. And they had blazing internet (we tried hard not to use it) The porch - the stars were so clear. The kitchen had everything you could ever need. We got a ribeye from the farmers market and used the grill. The loft is super cozy. Our dog loved it. Tons of stuff to sniff - he even made a friend from next door. It was only about 20-30 minutes to some solid hikes. Cranny crow was scenic. I say it more than I mean, but we’d definitely come back to this place. Would love to try it in the summer. Thanks guys

    Corey2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's place had everything we needed: from a well equipped kitchen to ton of books, games and entertainment which came in handy since we stayed there during the winter and it snowed. It was a treat to have the home-made winter granola for breakfast, with eggs, milk and juice provided. The outdoor fireplace was just terrific for s'mores, chats and warming up. Too bad it was too cold to hang out at the screened porch, cos it would have been heavenly just to laze there. My dog absolutely enjoyed the stay too - there was a dog bed, treats, toys and even leashes. Appreciate the really fine touches guys!

    Derrick2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's cabin is fantastic. Will be back again!

    Chris2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place felt like home as soon as I walked in. The bed was comfy, the decor was fun and the floor to ceiling windows made me smile . It was in a perfect area to get to some great hiking spots which made the dog happy too! I only wish I were there in the spring to enjoy the deck and screened-in porch.

    Sueyen2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's place was beautiful, very clean, it had a gorgeous view, and was very pet friendly. There were plenty of thoughtful touches like breakfast foods and a space heater. We were also grateful for the maps of the hiking trails in nearby parks. We would definitely stay here again!

  • I loved all the thoughtful touches, including snacks, treats for the doggies, extra towels, sharp kitchen knives. We had everything we needed. The recommendation of an all wheel drive vehicle should not be ignored. They have the steepest driveway I've ever been on - the payoff at the top is worth it. Gorgeous views.

  • Incredible views and a very comfortable place! The home still had creature comforts if you needed them to help make a great experience. Jessica was able to answer any questions I had and really went the extra step to make sure our trip went smoothly. The driveway up is a little steep and can be intimidating, but manageable.

  • I cannot express enough how wonderful this cabin is! My boyfriend and I were sad to spend Thanksgiving away from our families in Florida this year because we couldn’t make the drive, but this perfect cabin in the woods felt like home! Perfect location with beautiful hiking right outside the door. We didn’t see another person the entire 4 days we were there, and our dog loved all of the room she had to explore. If you’re looking for a cozy cabin to read and play board games next to the fire, while looking out at the gorgeous views that you can explore for yourself... look no further! So excited to come back!

    Courtnee2019-12-01T00:00:00Z

When we arrived he had fires going both outside and in the living room stove, took time to get to know us, and explained how everything worked. we will definitely return in the summer when we can swim.

    Jane2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect. It was off the grid, but also close to a store. It was right on the water, absolutely gorgeous outdoor spaces. The inside was quaint and clean and had everything we needed. The owner was helpful and kind. Beds, Chairs, and spaces were comfortable. We would definitely return to this location and recommend it.

  • This is a great getaway for a couple or family with kids, even in the winter! The king bedroom was spacious and comfortable, the wood stove did a great job keeping us warm, and the outdoor spaces gave us a lot of options for enjoying the view of the river (and hearing the sound of the local beaver enjoying a snack). At check-in our host showed us around the property, and gave great tips for local businesses to check out. We had everything we needed to relax, be comfortable, and cook our meals. Who needs cell phone reception when you have board games and nature? A visit here in warmer weather would allow better use of the kayak, river, hammocks, cornhole, badminton court, and outdoor seating. The big movie collection and fire pit are great year-round, and Darrel provided plenty of wood for both outside and the wood stove. Overall a comfortable, quiet, relaxing weekend by the river!

    Hilary2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Darrel is an excellent host. He was responsive, had everything stocked and ready for visitors, and offers a great value. The pictures show you exactly what his place has to offer, so no surprises. Very nice and helpful guy!

    Rick2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Darrel was a wonderful host. The cabin was wonderful, quiet and calm. It rained most of the weekend for us and the covered porch made it enjoyable. We had an intense game of badminton during clearer weather. We will definitely be returning.

  • This is a wonderful find and getaway from normal life. Overlooking a valley in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains and stocked with everything you need for a getaway (towels/linens/full kitchen). Philip, the property caretaker lives nearby and was very communicative/supportive of us as we stayed there. A wonderful place to reflect/getaway; I highly recommend it!

The Almost Heaven Cabin is surrounded by nature and has a quaint farmhouse charm. The cabin is nestled in the George Washington National Forest about 2 hours outside of the Washington DC Metro Area. The Cabin is ideal for small families, couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (case by case basis). Step off the grid and enjoy some rest and relaxation at the Almost Heaven Cabin. No worries...there is a land line available for emergencies.
We have all the modern day luxuries for your use: central air conditioning and heat, laundry facilities, a smart TV, and WiFi. Cell service isn't great on the mountain, as you might imagine. However, there is some AT&T service up across the street by our cabin. Otherwise, there is a guest phone in the Bunkhouse that you can use all you want. Also, there is a filtered and treated water line from the refrigerator, so bringing bottled drinking water is strictly optional.
DINING / FOOD There is no food delivery on the mountain, but you do have several restaurants and markets that are fairly close to the cabin. Hours vary by season so please double-check to make sure they are open before heading over. Kristi2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I spent 3 nights in this lovely home and was able to enjoy the outdoor activities that the area offers. The solitude that winter provided was truly rejuvenating. I hiked in Lost River State park, strolled around the nearby lake and took scenic drives. I felt completely safe everywhere. When I was at home (yes, you will feel like you are at home! ) I sipped my morning coffee in the sunroom overlooking the woods, read, cooked, listened to music, and watched TV. It truly is a 5 star home and the hosts are just as stellar.

    Liz2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Whitney's cabin was spectacular for a weekend trip in January. The location is far enough removed, yet close to a few hikes and a small town. The cabin is well designed and had everything required for our trip, even a stand up mixer! This is truly a hidden gem! Would love to visit again.

  • What a lovely little last-minute getaway. We have had hit and miss stays at airbnbs, but this was above and beyond what we had hoped for. We feel like we found a lovely little gem. Loved the views, speakers wired throughout the house and the AMAZING CD collection. Sharon was very quick in responses and very thorough in details. Can't wait to make it back!

  • My significant other and I wanted to get away from the city for a weekend and found The Lost River Cabin as a great in between of isolation, relaxation, and beauty. Thank you Sharon for sharing the cabin. We will recommend it to our friends for sure!

    Sasha2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful home - it's the kind of place I'd love to live in permanently! The clean modern design was beautiful and the amount of light the place got is fantastic. The location is less than 5 minutes to Lost River State Park, which was great, and since the park doesn't have a usage fee we were able to go back and forth multiple times a day. A few things to mention: we would've loved to use the hot tub, but it looked like parts were broken or missing and we didn't want to mess with it since there weren't really directions. The hot tub as well as the wood stove required wood, which we found in the shed, but hadn't been mentioned anywhere in the info provided. Also, the wifi info at the house didn't match the directions so hopefully that'll be updated to match. But really, those are minor issues, and we will definitely be back. It's such a lovely place to stay and you can't beat the fact it's a short drive from DC!

  • This is a great place to get away. The cabin, set along a hillside with tons of privacy, was super stylish and clean. We spent most of our time relaxing around the well-appointed fireplace and enjoying the view from the enormous deck (which expanded almost the entire length of the building). The host provided lots of firewood(!) so we didn't have to worry about how much to bring, yet the cabin is conveniently located to the other spots around Lost River.

  • Great spot in a beautiful and remote location. We stayed only one night but would love to come back one day with our dog and explore the area more! Cabin was cozy and rustic and had everything we needed to disconnect and be cozy for a night in the mountains. Loved the gazebo! No cell service or wifi but we knew that going in so we were prepared and actually enjoyed it. Thanks, Justin!

    Sarah2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great remote place to getaway from city. Last couple miles are paved road, so if the weather is not good it might be a little challenging to get up there with a sedan car. I highly recommend bringing your own drinking water, tap water has a sulfur smell, nothing bad but I would imagine drinking would be hard. Also there is not much around, its better to bring your own food and cook, instead of driving down. Side note, there was no hair dryer, or we weren’t able to find it, its better to brining.

  • If you need a quiet break from the city, this is your place. The area is gorgeous, and there are beautiful trails nearby. Bring your groceries and enjoy a secluded weekend away. The house is super cute with a log bar and a fireplace. Our dog couldn't have been happier running free is the big back yard, taking long walks down the road, and hiking through the trials. It was just what we were looking for!

    Jessica2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most phenomenal time at Justin’s place. The most authentic cabin situated in the woods, it was absolutely stunning to drink from the bar and overlook the lake. Serenity ! It was about a 35 minute drive down into woodstock which we loved the diner down there, an extremely auThentic experience. Everyone we encounter were so lovely and warm. We would have loved to have gone hiking but we were snowed out which was just lovely anyway !! Throughly enjoyed.

    Paige2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • I really loved Justin’s place, it was so warm and cozy. The house was built with great style and the property is absolutely beautiful! • ANS is wonderful! It was easily found through AirBNB. Each room has its own unique taste, and although the bathroom could use a little make over it was very clean! The place is easy to find, close to the major highways but back far away enough from the road that you don't hear any traffic. They have fridges, coffee, stove top, TV, cabinet space so basically if you need a place to stay for a while you could do weekly rentals. I was passing through late in Winchester and this place was a steal for sure!

  • Michael’s place is wonderful and he is very responsive. The views are so expansive they are difficult to capture. Set your alarm so you don’t miss sunrise and settle in for the show. Sunsets are also great. The cabin is well equipped, cozy, and clean. The drive up/down the mountain is a fun one. I’d never been to Winchester before; it is a hidden gem. Highly recommend Bonnie Blue for any meal/coffee/snack. Lots of historical sites worth checking out. Thank you, Michael! Looking forward to my next stay.

The location was perfect for those who want to be secluded but also be close enough to have a quick drive to the bars, restaurants, and nightlife of Winchester. We had a small issue unlocking the front door (through our own making) but Micheal was very quick to answer all of our questions and help us. When we visit Winchester again we will definitely be booking this cabin through Michael.

If you're looking for a quiet peaceful place to stay, this is it. It's also very comfortable; the beds were good and there were all the amenities we needed.

Our loft apartment is in the heart of Old Town Winchester on the Old Town Mall. Located off of a little alley, with security lighting and motion detectors you will be staying steps away from dining, shops and everything our community has to offer. Yet, our apartments are quiet and secure. Our building is OLD & has all of the charm that goes along with it. If you are looking for a sparkly new place, you may want to stay elsewhere, If you want clean, funky and awesome, we are your place!
Our Airbnb is in the heart of Old Town Winchester, on the first outdoor walking mall in the state of Virginia. The building was originally built in the 1700's during the American Revolutionary War. We are within walking distance of 4 breweries, 30 restaurants and over 60 retail shops. There are also numerous museums & art studios.
Vibrant neighborhood, surrounded by restaurants, shopping, museums & library. It's a very walk-able neighborhood.
  • It was clean and comfy. Quiet and really nice location near Old Winchester. Great town with a beautiful old town.

  • Charlie's cozy airbnb is a gem! The location could not have been better. It's right in downtown proper. We saw a show at The Bright Box and were just a short block away. She has a great selection of books and movies and the bed was comfy! I can't wait to stay here again!

    Elaine2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed in two of Charlie’s Airbnb’s. Both have been amazing. They have everything you need and you can walk anywhere you need to go for dinner or drinks.

  • Great location and a very cute apartment. Charlie was super friendly and helpful!

  • We definitely plan to book Charlie's place again when visiting Winchester. Great location, great space, and great hospitality.

  • You will not find a better or closer location for the Old Town area of Winchester. You are literally in a building on the walking mall. It was so nice to wake up and go right next door to a coffee shop for the best latte I have ever had. (They have macadamia milk as an option and it was fantastic!) There are some really great shops and restaurants. The buildings are awe-inspiring. The historical attractions alone are worth a trip to this city. Just a tip, parking on the street is free after 6pm and for the whole weekend so don't waste money on a parking garage if you are going on the weekend.

  • Charlie’s place is adorable and is located in a great spot to check out old town. My husband and I loved our stay!

My comfy house is perched on 5 acres on a mountain ridge with stunning and private views of the Lost River Valley. It is the ideal location to launch for nearby adventures, or do absolutely nothing at all!
The house is open and cozy, with comfy indoor and outdoor spaces.
Lost River, West Virginia is a special place. It is situated between the George Washington National Forest, the Lost River State Park, and miles upon miles of pastoral country roads and farmsteads. The Lost River area attracts visitors who love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, skiing (Massanutten, Canaan Valley, Bryce Resort, and Snowshoe), and geo-catching. It's also a popular destination for antiquing and taking in Appalachian culture through the local arts and crafts scene (Lost River Artisans Cooperative and Museum). This property is central to it all, and the perfect weekend retreat from Washington, DC (2 hours), Baltimore, MD (3 hours), Richmond, VA (3 1/2 hours) or Philadelphia (5 hours)! For the foodies: The owner loves to bake and cook, so the kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, spices, and basic ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, etc.). Spend the night in with friends or family enjoying dinner by the fireplace, or outside grilling and dining in the screened porch to nature's chorus of crickets and other creatures that inhabit the area. Or, spend the night out enjoying a gourmet meal at the Guest House at Lost River. The Lost River Grill is also a popular spot for drinks and live entertainment. Lunch at the General Store is highly recommended (the BBQ pork sandwich is a favorite!). Oh, and the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings (just minutes down the mountain)! For the adventurous, the Lost River area has a lot to offer! If you're a triathlete, take advantage of the world-class rural roads for running and biking, and Trout Pond for open-water swims. Lost River is also a hiker's paradise--Big Schloss (George Washington National Forest) and Cranny Crow (Lost River State Park) are two popular favorites. Lost River is also a great launching site for nearby canoe and tube float trips. The old timber roads on the mountain (immediately accessible from the property) make for some spectacular mountain biking and snowshoeing (2 pairs of snowshoes are available for complimentary use). Winter in Lost River is spectacular for both nesters and adventurers! Hit the slopes of Bryce, Massanutten, Canaan Valley and Snowshoe (a little more distant, but close enough to return home in time for a crockpot dinner). For the sightseers and shoppers, no visit to Lost River is complete without a visit to the Lost Rivers Artisans Cooperative and Museum (the owner's hand-screened t-shirts are among the many locally crafted items for sale). For the Yogis, grab your mat because Lost River is a perfect place for practice, and the Yoga Barn (offering regular morning classes throughout the Spring, Summer & Fall) is right down the mountain! For the telecommuters, our area was recently updated with fiber optic cable, so the internet is reliable and lightening fast! (I telecommuted full time as an attorney without issue for several years.). There is also cable television so you can stay connected with CNN and other networks. For the homebodies, this property is also for you. Grab a beer and chill in the hammock with a book. Settle on the sofa with a movie or download from Apple TV. Lounge on the deck, taking in the gorgeous views, birds and other wildlife (deer, black bear, wild turkeys, squirrels, fox...) . Grab the cribbage board or cornhole boards. Or do absolutely nothing! So many options...
  • My fiancé and I took a quick weekend trip to Derek’s place looking for some peace and quiet and great views. It was too cold to enjoy all the area offers for outdoor recreation, but we still had a great time checking out the Lost River Valley region and trying the local restaurants. One thing I’d do next time I come would be to get all the maps needed ahead of time, since we lost cell service about ten miles before we got to the house. Derek’s instructions warned about that but we didn’t catch it in time - totally our fault! But maybe if you’re reading this you can learn from our mistake. :) I’d definitely recommend this for a retreat weekend and I hope to come back soon!

  • A great place for a hiking retreat! Beautiful views of the mountains, quiet and peaceful. Grateful we could bring our pup with us! Wifi and service was great on top of the mountain and the house was well stocked. Just make sure you have 4-wheel drive in the winter. We had no problem, but if it is snowy, you'll want it!

    Lindsay2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome mountain spot with amazing views and outdoor deck space!

    Lee2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriends and I went up to this beautiful Airbnb on top of a mountain for a moms getaway. It was perfect. Amazing views, peaceful and the home was up-to-date with a great artistic vibe! I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit lost city West Virginia!

  • FANTASTIC views and super quiet location. We felt truly relaxed after our two-night stay. One of the best air bnbs I’ve ever booked!

    Adele2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet location with spectacular views.

    Marc2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is located right on the ridge and the views are spectacular. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with cooking supplies, such as pots, pans, and utensils. That the cabin is bright with sunlight and the hammock on the deck were two of our favorite things. Derek was quick to respond to any questions we had and gives a list of recommendations for nearby things to do. We would definitely go back.

    Chel2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay over the Thanksgiving Weekend! The master suite was phenomenal and the bed was very comfortable. The views were spectacular. We enjoyed having a fire in the backyard firepit, the extra blankets around the house, and spending time on the deck and screened porch.

Nice older single family home all to yourselves. If you don’t like old houses this is not the place for you, it was built in 1955. It is close to 81 and roughly a mile from Old Town Winchester. It is located across the street from Shenandoah University. Starbucks and restaurants are a short walk. This house is perfect for families or a group of friends. Great for a weekend getaway or visiting professionals. Stop for a quick overnight while traveling. Cable TV and Wifi included.
This house is perfect for a visit to historic Winchester. The location is easy to get to from 81. Located near the downtown walking mall (1 mile) in Winchester that has restaurants, historical sites, museums, concert venues, local breweries, and shops. There is a great Children's Museum close by. Shenandoah University is down the street, this would be perfect for visiting faculty, parents, families, potential students or professors, or someone attending the SU theater series. The neighborhood is friendly, safe and convenient. It is a short walk to Starbucks. Washington DC is a 70 mile drive, Shenandoah National Park is about a half hour drive. We are in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley with many Virginia Wineries located nearby. This house would work for an individual or a family or even a couple of families (that get along well;). This would work for a professional as it has great WiFi. There is a big front porch that makes it easy to watch the world go by and relax. It would make a good home base for a wedding party or a weekend getaway. We live close and are available if you need us. Whatever your reason for visiting we look forward to making your stay wonderful!
Residential neighborhood but close to all conveniences. Easy walk to the tourist visitors center.
  • Cute old house close to Shenandoah University. Hosts are responsive and thoughtful!

A portion of our home is dated back to the 1740's. Come and relax in the Oak Room and venture out to enjoy the history that our home is surrounded by. Our home is a perfect location; Less than 2 miles to the hospital and several assisted living communities. Only 1.5 miles from Old Town Winchester which boasts of a charming walking mall, coffee shops, boutique stores and a wonderful selection of restaurants. This area is bustling with Farmers Markets and wineries. So much to see.
The Oak Room is located on the second floor of our home. Access to our Kitchen and Laundry Room can be arranged if desired and requested. We have a family cat so if allergies are a problem please keep that in mind. We are a family with two small boys and we love children. With that being said if you are sensitive to noise we will try and be as accommodating as possible. Privacy is key and it is important to us that you feel comfortable.
The atmosphere surrounding our home is quiet. We can direct you to some favorite walking trails, wineries, cider works, breweries, farmers markets and restaurants. Though not the most direct route to Old Town Winchester; we have found ourselves walking our riding bikes in the evening. We are conveniently located near Winchester Medical Center as well as Westminster Canterbury Assisted Living.
