  • The Little Red Cottage was just as described, perhaps better! Stephan greeted us when we arrived and shared some helpful local tips and information. The cottage was clean and cozy, great comfortable bed, and everything we needed was there for a wonderful two night stay. Valentina was also so welcoming. We would definitely recommend the Little Red Cottage! Thank you, Valentina!

  • Amazing place, really well equipped, very comfortable bed and perfect view across the river. We spent the days exploring the area and the evenings relaxing by the river with a couple of cold beers. Perfect. Valentina was a perfect host. We wished we could have stayed longer.

    Pat2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We could not have asked for a better stay at Valentina and Stephen's Little Red Cottage! Everything from the location to the amenities was absolutely perfect! Valentina was very friendly, warm, and helpful. The guidebook provided with things to see and restaurants in the area was a great touch! Everything was well-equipped and the bed was super comfy. One of our favorite things to do was watch the tide come in from the bay window overlooking the water. It was beautiful! We had no idea that Annapolis Royal would be such a delightful town, and we loved being close enough to really explore it! We highly recommend Sissiboo Coffee and the pretzels at the German bakery. We visited each place multiple times during our two night stay. All of this to say, we would highly recommend the Little Red Cottage whether you're looking to stay for just a short time, or a bit longer. The furry friends, Cooper and Mr. Latas, were just icing on the cake for our stay! You can't beat an Airbnb with a dog!

    Justin2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • An ideal place to relax and explore a beautiful area. Valentina was very welcoming to us and our elderly dog. The cottage was clean comfortable, and right beside the river, so it was quiet and peaceful, with wonderful views. Highly recommended!

    Tom2016-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the Little Red Cottage! The view was serene and beautiful. The cottage homey and had everything you needed. Valentina is a wonderful host and went out of her way to welcome us.

    Stephanie2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at The Little Red Cottage. It was the exact experience we were looking for. The owners were very friendly and the cottage was clean.

    Scott2014-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a great stay. We loved the location and of course Cooper was just right for our family. As we were visiting family in the area we are hoping to be back again. The cottage is adorable, the bedding is fantastic, and the water is on your doorstep. Quite heavenly to sip your coffee and be on the waters edge. Valentina was a great host. Anything we needed she supplied immediately. Her home is just beautiful lit up at night. A great atmosphere. Its a WOW.

Are you looking for a place to relax and get away from it all and enjoy a little piece of heaven? If your answer is yes then Holly Haven is the place for you! Holly Haven is a 115 year old home located 25 km from Digby or 10 km from Annapolis Royal. Rest and relax as you lounge on the deck overlooking the Annapolis Basin. Enjoy an evening fire and your favorite beverage while watching spectacular sunsets.
Holly Haven features 2 bedrooms and a large upstairs bathroom with a claw foot tub. It comes with a fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, a dining room and a living room with a stunning view. It has a seating area at the front of the house, a swing and chiminea off the side of the house with great views and a the deck off the living room over looks the Annapolis Basin. The driveway is steep and caution to be used entering and exiting the property.
Holly Haven is about a 2.5 hr drive from Halifax. There is a grocery store about 1 km from the house. Neighbors are near but not imposing.
  • Holly Haven - WOW! I had seen all the great reviews and had solid hopes, but this property really surpassed all of them. The house is wonderful, so much character and charm, and the amenities are great. They have just put brand-new mattresses in the bedrooms, and they were very comfortable. The house was stocked with almost anything you could think to need, and Pearl was attentive and helpful when we had questions or concerns. But be sure to take the time to spend some evenings and mornings out on the deck, and enjoy the stunning beauty and peace of the bay views! I would absolutely come here again.

    Sarah2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sitting on the back deck watching the sun set over the Annapolis basin was a pure (URL HIDDEN) seemed to set right in front of us....well choreographed....

    Joanne2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming old home on a large property with lovely gardens and a killer view of Annapolis Basin. The home is suitable for up to 5 people, is comfortable and is well decorated. The location is rural but there are small towns nearby with good restaurants and shopping. It provides a pastoral setting that is calm and serene. There are also walking trails in the vicinity. Annapolis Royal has lots of history to explore, and some very nice restaurants (especially the German bakery and cafe). If you require any special amenities or accommodations, inquire of the owners.

    Claire2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodations was simply wonderful...beautifully decorated in antique country cottage style with lots of pine furniture, quilt bed covers and fresh flowers in the entrance hall and kitchen. Really appreciated inclusion of the home basics like food wrap, coffee, laundry detergent, microwave popcorn, shampoo etc. Nancy and Pearl were very responsive to my questions and getting access to the house was a cinch. My only caution is if you have a low clearance vehicle like we do (Dodge Charger) be careful to enter the driveway slowly and on an angle or you risk scrapping the undercarriage. I highly recommend Holly Haven. Paul

    Paul2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED our stay at Holly Haven! Possibly the favourite of our trip. The home was clean and comfortable for a cottage-like stay in a GREAT location with quick access to Annapolis Royal and Digby - not to mention the view!!! Pearl was extremely helpful, as well. We loved our time here!!!

    Rhiannon2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Holly Haven for three nights in August. The house is beautiful, very clean and functional. I don't think I've stayed at an Airbnb with a better stocked kitchen. The surrounding property is also gorgeous; we spent a lot of time enjoying the view from the deck. The house serves as a good base for visiting the area (about 20 minutes drive from Digby and less than 15 from Annapolis Royal). Communication with Nancy was very easy. We would stay here again.

    Jeremy2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Simply amazing, the location was stunning and the sunsets incredible! A beautiful home with everything you could need!

    Sam2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our group of four had an amazing stay at Holly Haven. The cottage was very spacious, and absolutely immaculately kept. The ocean view was stunning throughout the house, and the bed rooms were large and comfortable. We had a fabulous time at the Annapolis market on Saturday morning, and I would highly recommend taking a whale watching tour off Brier Island. We hope to be fortunate enough to stay at this beautiful cottage again in the future! Thanks so much.

They were upgraded rooms and the breakfast was great considering that we were leaving early in the morning and there are no other eating places nearby. Highly recommend staying here.

Wake up to a beautiful sunrise across the waters of historic Annapolis Royal. All the conveniences PLUS hot tub & swimming pool privileges. Close to town - 20 min walking, or 5 min cycling. View the spectacular changes of the Bay of Fundy tides from your window. Swim in the pool, or the ocean (at high tide).... or relax in the sun or shade in our waterfront gardens, our little piece of Paradise.
Our place is great for couples & solo travellers, as well as a family (using the futon bed). If you like a quiet private setting with a waterfront, this is it. The cottage is cozy, open and airy, and with a full kitchen and bath. You have your own private yard/garden space with lawn chairs and barbecue .......and that gorgeous waterfront view !
A quiet and friendly little waterfront village next to the historic town of Annapolis Royal - vibrant in arts, theatre, dining, museums and shops. Central location for all of southwest Nova Scotia, including from Kejimikijik National Park to the famous whale watching of the Bay of Fundy.
  • Lovely outdoor spaces. We enjoyed the pool, the hot tub, the bbq, the fire pit, and just hanging out in the garden reading and watching the incredible Bay of Fundy tide action. This truly is a lovely cottage for a couple.

  • Janis and Cam were the perfect hosts . They were there if we needed them but gave us complete privacy. The cottage is close to the town centre while being on the water. It is equipped with everything you might need for your stay and the coffee was excellent. The hot tub and pool are an added bonus. Perfect for families or couples. They made great recommendations for things to do in town. The location is beautiful. You can see the whole town lit up at night across the water. The beds were comfortable. The pull out in the living room was awesome as well. Janis and Cam are great adventurers with warm hearts We will definitely be back. MaryAnne, Barry, Betty and Clark

  • Beautiful location, lovely view, charming little cottage, with lots of character. We enjoyed the yard and the hot tub. There is a small television that plays DVDs only, bring your own in case of rain, also a few board games available which was nice. Cozy, had all the basics. The bed was kind of hard, so not the best sleep ever, but other than that no complaints.

    Grace Lynn2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy, very clean cottage close to Annapolis Royal which is a interesting town. Cam and Jannis were great hosts and we had memorable conversations.

    Larry2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Janis's place is quaint but perfect for a getaway. A great view of Fort Anne and the town of Annapolis Royal. Janis is friendly and easy going, plus the hot tub is very relaxing. Would certainly visit again.

  • Great place to go and stay in Annapolis Royal! Secluded enough to make it a get away ! beautiful view and amazing accommodations! Jan and Cam were great hosts and we would definitely be going back again! Thanks again guys!

    Becca2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Charming, spotless cottage which feels roomier than it looks with well-stocked kitchen, beautiful garden, and amazing view. Very welcoming hosts who offered great advice and information on local attractions. It's a great place to just relax and enjoy the views and the charming town of Annapolis Royal, or to have as a home base for exploring.

    Tina2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful location with a great view of Annapolis Royal. Our son just loved the hot tub too. Janis and Cam were so friendly and helpful. My only regret is not being able to get to know them more and hear their stories as we were mostly on the go. Great place to stay and great hosts.

Beautiful 18th Century home situated on the oldest road in Canada (1604), with a post card view of Historic Annapolis Royal across the Annapolis Basin. This room is a suite of 2 rooms: 1 queen and 1 twin/ with ensuite in twin room
  • This is such a brilliant place, and Martha and Art were just the most welcoming hosts. As well as he B&B we were treated to cookies, food when the Canada Day meal didn't happen as scheduled, a trip to a graveyard tour by candlelight, and loads of great conversation. Can't recommend this highly enough.

    Paul2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Martha and Art truly exceeded our expectations in every way. It was like staying with family. Such a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a place to stay, do yourself a favour and stay here.

    Greg2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a bed and breakfast in a historic house. Art and Martha did a great job restoring and preserving the history of the building, and Art took us on a detailed tour of the various artifacts in his home. The grand kitchen hearth is still intact! Our stay was very comfortable, Art provided brochures and advise on what to do in town, and engaged with and became our daughter's best friend. He even prepared her a special dutch breakfast! Martha's breakfast is to die for...

    houssam2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The B&B is located on the other side of Annapolis Royal (in Glanville Ferry) with a spectacular view: Annapolis Royal and the water (esp. with the sun in the morning). The garden is a beautiful spot to relax. The road is quiet and it's a got location to drive in all directions. Parking directly at the house. We had the "Harris Suite" for three, with a separate bedroom for our child. Everything very cosy and clean. Our son also got lego from Martha and kids books were available, too. Martha and Art indulged us with a big variety of breakfast: Homemade quiche / cinnamon buns, fresh fruit salad, little pancakes, jam, eggs, bacon, coffee, juice, cereals... We also had nice conversations and were invited for a "board game night". But couldn't make it this time as we came home late and tired from our excursions. The house has an interesting history, Martha shared with us, while she showed us the cosy kitchen. You can see and feel, that Art & Martha enjoy meeting and serving people. The atmosphere is very familial. We can highly recommend to stay at "Grand Oak Manor". A good spot for a small family, too.

    Claudia2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay! A great spot with a view of the water, not far from Annapolis Royal. The historic home has lots of charm, and Art and Martha were great hosts! Be sure to ask them for suggestions for local attractions and food - we were very pleased with Shore Road Seafood, which we probably wouldn't have found without their tips. The fantastic spread Martha made for breakfast was delicious! Would recommend to anyone planning a trip to this part of Nova Scotia!

    Emily2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful stay with Art & Martha! I am travelling the east coast with my friend and son. We stayed in the Harris room and it's exactly as shown in the pictures! So adorable. I absolutely loved this house and the town of Annapolis Royal. Art & Martha were both extremely kind, accommodating, and informative. They made you feel very welcome and at home. The breakfast was amazing and the best one I've had on my trip! Would definitely stay here again!

    Erin2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was perfect ! The house is beautiful and full of history. We feel very welcoming, Martha and Hart are very nice and interesting. We ate very well and we spent a wonderful evening with them. If I have to come back in Nova Scotia for sure I want to sleep at Martha and Hart's place !

  • A wonderful room and great experience spending time within a gallery. Conveniently located for activities and food. Warmly greeted. Heads up the bed had an air mattress and the WiFi was not reliable during our stay. Overall great stay and great host.

    Brandi2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Simple room in an artist/artisan complex. Just what you need, private bedroom and access to a bathroom, with small kitchenette capabilities. Great hosts and excellent location. There is a fabulous farmer's market at the doorstep on Saturday mornings, amazing.

    Mathieu2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at the Lucky Rabbit. Deb was very hospitable, and the farmer's market right outside our door on Saturday morning was a treat to wake up to. It was a lovely space and being right in the heart of Annapolis Royal was a fantastic.

    Rob2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really unique and private place, we were surrounded by beautiful art, pottery, custom handbags, tartan wears. The room went beyond our expections with a private kitchenette. Out host Deb went above and beyond making us feel welcomed and our stay enjoyable. The private deck was a quiet place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The antique claw foot tub was a great way to unwind in a luxurious bubble bath! It was a great start to immersing ourselves into the local art community. Thanks again Deb you have a gem of a place! The description was clear and accurate!

    tony2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Second time staying there, good place, great location. This is in an artists' enclave, surrounded by studios in the house and shops. Location is great, Saturday market on the doorstep! Parking just outside, couldn't ask for better. The kitchenette is tiny, so not really a place to make big meals, but all the necessities are there.

    Mathieu2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to go if you want to be surrounded by art and creativity!

    Heather2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Deb's place for 5 days while we were looking for a house in the area. Deb and Lily were wonderful hosts, very quick with communication, checking in and being available when we needed any assistance. The loft apt is very cute and cozy. We had a wonderful stay here. We were out most of the days, but found it very quiet in the evenings. The bed was quite comfortable, for being an air mattress. No problem sleeping at all! :) The studio is a wonderful spot, with beautiful work by the artisans. Everyone is very friendly and respectful of your privacy. We highly recommend a stay here. Make sure to stick around for the Farmer's Market on Saturday! What an amazing selection!! Thank you again Deb and Lily!

The heart of Annapolis Royal, the Famous Red Shed, is close to the town centre, art, culture, parks, and great views. You’ll love The Famous Red Shed because of the cosiness, convenience, and the location. The Famous Red Shed is good for couples, solo adventurers.
Being surrounded by the town of Annapolis Royal is really one of the many bonuses to this property. Let us be perfectly clear..we are unique. The house itself is very comfortable, the yard is large and private, however on Saturdays you are literally in the thick of the famous Annapolis Royal Farmers Market, and everything you make of that. No need to cook that day with vendors less than one hundred yards of your house. Once you arrive, park your car in the private parking, or put your motorcycle in the fenced in yard and walk for the rest of your visit here. Full kitchen, full bath, comfortable, airy and safe. This is probably the place for you.
I love the central location of this house. Every essential convenience of the town, is within walking distance. And some not so essential.
  • Location! Location! Location! You can't ask for a better location than the Famous Red Shed. It is smack dab in the heart of historic Annapolis Royal, a stone's throw from the amazing Saturday Farmer's Market. As for the accommodations, so cozy & clean. And the fenced-in back yard adds to a feeling of self-containment. We will definitely return!

    Jason2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, close to everything! The Shed is spacious inside and has a beautiful garden with seating.

    Laura2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a great little gem in the heart of Annapolis Royal! Be sure to plan to stay over a Saturday as the Saturday Market with bountiful garden treats, bakery items and local artisan crafts is a delight. Cindy was a perfect host and the gardens were a welcome retreat. Highly recommend this little gem.

    Stephanie2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy was a spectacular host. We loved our time in Annapolis Royal and a lot of it had to do with the accommodation and and the host. The place is a comfy, clean, inviting vacation refuge.

    Tim2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Eclectic furnishings and art. Immaculate. Very comfortable bed. Great location; walk to any place in town, including restaurants, pub, waterfront and Fort Anne. Easy drive to Kejimkujik National Park. We would stay again if ever in Annapolis Royal!

    Susan2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place! Not your average rental...unique architecture, east-asian decorative accents paintings and sculptures, it is an art gallery unto itself. Everywhere you look you find eye-candy. Everything we needed was within short and easy walking distance from The Famous Red Shed. I especially recommend stopping by "Far Fetched" our host's antique and art gallery. It is filled with unique treasures from around the globe. If you're looking for a place to eat you can find good food and drinks at the "Old Town Pub". Bonus they are open later than the other restaurants in the area and it is right around the corner from the Red Shed. Suffice to say, we'll be coming back!

    Joyce2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Oh.....how we hated to leave this perfect spot! It was so convenient and very quiet, even though the main street was only half a block away...the cottage is very well equipped, the linens were clean and crisp, wifi worked great....and the private garden out back was really nice for relaxing in the evening.. Cindy and Tom were wonderful hosts and very available if needed.. In short, we couldn't have been more pleased!

    Sheri2017-08-15T00:00:00Z

This is a cute cottage located in Granville Ferry, one block from the Annaplolis Basin. It is walking distance to town where there are restaurants and dining or cook in the fully equipped kitchen. Coffee and tea, spices, oils and lots of condiments are provided. The entire cottage was renovated this year with a mix of old and new decor. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. You'll love the garden to relax in after a day of site seeing through the area.
  • When we drove up to the cottage I thought oh no, we're in the middle of nowhere. But I quickly discovered we were in the middle of it all. So much to see within a few miles, and within an hours drive even more (whale-watching, coastal hikes, wine tours, etc) we stayed a week and were never bored. Charming rustic cottage with a little bling here and there. Very comfortable bed and living room furniture. So considerate of the owner to have the necessities available (TP, paper towels, spices, olive oil, and some breakfast items). The garden is lovely, but watch out for mosquitoes.

    Cynthia2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property located a few minutes drive from Annapolis Royal. Cottage has been remodeled to the studs and was very clean/spacious. Loved the rain shower and fully equipped kitchen and full size laundry. Also provided coffee and some food. Cable TV but not internet but plenty of TV premium channels to pick from. One B/R on first floor and two upstairs. This is a place where you could feel comfortable for weeks. Nicest place we've stayed at on our trip around NS.

    Roy2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This delightful cottage was the ideal launchpad for a few days of exploring Annapolis Valley. One of the most charming AirBnBs I've stayed in, immaculately clean, and a restful retreat to come back to after a day of whale watching or hiking. Sue was very easy to contact and a hospitable host--she even left a few breakfast provisions for us in the fridge. We may come back to Nova Scotia just to stay in this cottage again.

    Andrew2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Felt very welcome at Sue's Gardeners Cottage. It was very easy to find and to get inside. The place was well decorated, very functional and comfortable. It was very clean and things were easy to find. The neighbours were friendly and the location is great for the Annapolis Valley.

    Richard2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a great cottage! Super clean, very spacious, very quiet and close to visit Annapolis Royal old city. Also close to grocery store. I enjoyed very much the appartment. No wifi but tv. I did not meet Sue but it was easy to communicate with her. Many thanks!

  • Sue made us feel most welcome! There was coffee and cream ready to use, an abundance of spices, pots and pans and I could use the washer and dryer to freshen up our clothes - a real PLUS! The house is off the "beaten path", but near to Annapolis Royal. It was soo peaceful and dead quite for sleeping. We really enjoyed our stay.

Michaelmas Cottage is an old house built in 1769 by Benjamin Rumsey (from Connecticut) on previously Acadian land in Granville Ferry near Annapolis Royal. This is a beautiful building with remarkably little alteration done to it over the years.
The house is painted in warm colors, has 6 fireplaces (one discovered during renovation and a seventh suspected on the second floor) enormously wide floor boards (no trees of this size are left in N.S.!), a huge brick oven in the Summer Kitchen, a narrow twisting staircase to the second floor bedrooms , sky lights, beams, a large colorful bathroom on the main with another on the second floor, sloping ceilings or rafters in the bedrooms, a colorfully tiled and well equipped kitchen with wooden ceiling, etc. This is a treasured and lived in family home. The owner is not always here and travels extensively. The house is crammed with interesting collections from afar as well as photographs by the owner who, besides being an anthropologist, is also a professional photographer. You will experience the “soul” of this house by living here. It is perfect for family visits with the dog. There are flowering apple trees and lilac in the spring and it is very close to the delightfully picturesque village of Granville Ferry which hugs the shore en route to Annapolis Royal, 15 minutes by foot away.
This area is very friendly. There are people in this village and Annapolis Royal who have come here from all across Canada and the U.S. Consequently there is a lively theatre and many other activities of interest all year long. One of our first couples visiting was so overwhelmed by this area, its people and attractions and history that they decided to move here!
  • Michaelmas Cottage is a delightful house drenched in authentic historic charm. Our family history includes New England Planters who settled in the Annapolis Royal area in 1751 so it was fascinating to stay in a contemporary house as well as visiting local sights and museums. Our kids particularly liked Port Royal just a few minutes drive away. The house is in a great location for outdoor activities: Delap Cove is a nice nearby hike; we drove to Kejikumik National Park and had a great experience whale watching on the Bay of Fundy. The house is 250 years old and comes as advertised so be aware of steep stairs, low beams and some dark creepy nooks and crannies!

This bright and airy loft has spectacular views both front and back and is situated just steps away from all amenities. It has a fun retro feel while providing everything you need to be comfortable in your home away from home. The light in this airy space is wonderful. There is a beautiful back garden to relax in and you are right near the water across the street if you like puttering on the shore. The bathroom and kitchen are well equipped.
The two best aspects of this loft are it's proximity to everything and the lovely airy space itself.
This is a wonderful neighbourhood. The loft is nestled amongst some of the oldest wooden buildings in Canada with a charming streetscape. The Annapolis basin is across the street as well as a boat haul up where boats are repaired. Within a block you'll find the liquor store, farmers market, grocery stores, banks, restaurants, shopping and a fabulous boardwalk on the water. Neighbours are friendly and you can blend into the neighbourhood easily.
  • The Loft is clean, quiet, well outfitted and spacious. It is right in Annapolis Royal and the history is fascinating whether you do the self-guided walk or visit the fort. People are friendly, shops are delightful and food is delicious. Our host was helpful and accommodating. An excellent experience!

  • We loved our stay in the heart of Annapolis Royal . Angela was extremely accommodating and the space was perfect . Her gardens are worth the trip alone . We will defiantly be returning . A real gem of a vacation

  • This amazing loft apartment was so clean and comfortable! It is right in the center of town and made it easy to get to everything. The apartment is beautifully decorated and so well-equipped. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and dishes. Even some basic spices. The space was ample and cozy. I couldn’t recommend this place more. It is a must do!

  • Great host ! Great location - very close to all Annapolis Royal has to offer: museum, farmer's market, art galleries, Fort Ann, boardwalk, Annapolis river, Tidal Powerplant etc... The Loft is very clean and fully furnished with amenities ! Our family had very good time in the valley !

  • The Ocean View Loft is a gem! The location is great, the gardens behind the house are beautiful, and the loft has everything you need for a stay in quaint Annapolis Royal. Angela is a great host and the loft is very clean and very comfortable.

  • Within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the fort, and a lovely marsh hike, Angela's place was in the perfect location. The place was airy, clean, and the view of the bay was fantastic. It had everything we needed to make our stay feel like home, including coffee, a stocked pantry, and even board games. Angela herself is lovely and I highly recommend introducing yourself to her. We had a great stay in this lovely town and will be eager to stay in Angela's place again.

    Haley2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Angela is unpretentiously friendly, was at ease with us and we with her--very nice. Everything is spotless and could not be more convenient to anything that you want to do in the area. You could live quite nicely there without a car and just enjoy the town on foot. It was not a problem for us but there is set of stairs going up to the apartment. We liked the decor. It was not cluttered, eclectic in a simple and pleasing way. Pleased to have access to a washer and dryer. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook for ourselves. A friend told us about the graveyard tour and I was more than a bit skeptical not being a fan of tours in general, however it was a very moving and personal summary of the area's history and also a good lesson in the importance of history. I had not realized how central this area was in the history of our continent since the arrival of Europeans.

Beautiful walking trails pick up where the sidewalks stop. Visitors can stroll along the Annapolis River, or around the French Basin (a delight for birders, with nesting boxes and blinds). Everything you need is within a three-minute walk, with the Farmers' and Traders' Market and Ye Olde Town Pub across the street, and grocery stores and liquor store a block away. NOTE: The fire hall's siren sounds routinely, every day at noon.
  • We can honestly say this is without doubt the best Airbnb accommodation we have ever stayed in! Cosy, very comfortable and full of lovely touches for a relaxing stay in hot or cold weather! Exactly as described but so much better in reality. Excellent location for all amenities - farmers market was lovely and the Garrison House our fav restaurant for fabulous food! Nancy made our trip extra special and memorable with local tips and kind touches. Wish we could have spent longer in Annapolis Royal and would definitely love to stay in the little Market Gallery again!

Built in the 1800's and a hotel in the days of horse and carriage. 3 story home in the quaint and picturesque village of Granville Ferry. Fabulous views of Annapolis Royal c 1605 and a mere 15 minute walk into town. So much to see and do in the area. Hiking, kayaking, whale watching, antique hunting, artisans, historic gardens, many Parks Canada sites and our long running outdoor farmers market on a Saturday filled with all the best sights sounds and tastes this gem of a town can offer!
Very spacious 16 x 16ft room, freshly re modelled in the last 6 months. Room looks across the Annapolis Basin on the 2nd floor. Beautiful old plank floors. Comfortable queen sized bed. Couch and a rocking chair complete this suite. All the comforts of home.
  • Patricia is a fantastic host, and puts on a great face for Airbnb. Check in was a breeze. I was traveling alone this trip and staying for 9 days. She noted which room was mine in our communications, everything was well thought out, and guest friendly. Of course there was free Wi-Fi, but as my electronics were giving me trouble out of country, the computer on her kitchen counter was made available for guests to use if necessary and charging equipment! Among so many talents Patricia is a gourmet cook She made marvelous breakfasts, catering to the vegans, and in turn, sausage and bacon lovers. In the Canadian style, her pantry was so well stocked she kindly offered her guests to help themselves! When the evenings were cool, Patricia lit the woodstove in the living room, poured wine and set a comfortable and welcoming environment, perfect rest from a long day of site seeing, and an easy way to greet her other international guests. One morning I decided to launch into a 114k bike ride to Brier Island. Patricia would not hear of my going over a nearby bridge(dangerous for bikers) and got up early just to load that dang bike and hoof me over the tough spot so I could have a safe journey! Her fully restored, multi bedroom. historic home is meticulously clean and beautifully done. My room had a couch, rocking chair two dressers and queen bed! Often I felt I had the whole place to myself even when she was totally booked, as the walls are so insulated for sound and the placement of bathrooms and common areas are so carefully thought out. I came back to my very busy life refreshed and rejuvenated, thanks to Patrica's specific hospitality and the beautiful Annapolis Royal area. I highly recommend this spot and hope to return next year.

    barbara2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Patrica's home and demeanor was the best we encountered in our 7 days in NS. Her lovely cat Bob sits on the porch for petting if you like cats. Her hammock was perfect for cloud of star gazing. She has a great library and exercise room. Patricia include a delicious breakfast for my vegan travel companion, hooked us up with people, and adventures. Patricia's home will be my home away from home for all future trips to NS.

    Robin2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first trip to Nova Scotia and we decided to stay in the vicinity of Annapolis Royal for one night. Granville Ferry is a hop, skip and a jump from this beautiful little town. We must say that Patricia was an amazing hostess, from giving ideas of restaurants and things to do in the area, to cooking us a delicious hot breakfast. We left feeling like we had made a new friend. Her home which is in a picturesque quiet area has fabulous character and most of it has been renovated. The rooms are beautiful and spacious with comfortable beds. We highly recommend staying with Patricia. You will not be disappointed.

    Debbie2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia is warm, hospitable, knowledgeable about the area, and down to earth. Views of the Annapolis River are lovely and the wood stove fire at night so welcoming!

    Marcy2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet comfortable house with a glorious wood burning stove when the weather gets cold. A short drive from Annapolis Royal and several Parks Canada sites. Four guest rooms share 2.5 bathrooms, so there was no waiting. Generous breakfasts and good, strong coffee. Two of the rooms have river views - very lovely.

    Janet2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful accommodation, with comfortable rooms and numerous bathrooms. We were encouraged to make full use of the house, which we did, including using the full kitchen freely, storing food in both the refrigerator and freezer, and making use of the washer and dryer. Patricia served us wonderful breakfasts every morning (at the hour of our choice), and provided much help in suggesting interesting and fun activities. It was a wonderful place to stay!

    (EMAIL HIDDEN)2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time at Patricia's beautiful B and B. She knows the best restaurants to go to; the best sights to see and is totally comfortable if you just want to hang out. If you are going to Annapolis Royal, treat yourself and stay with Patricia. You won't be disappointed.

    Laurie2017-07-02T00:00:00Z

Once an operational B&B, this honeymoon suite has amazing views and loads of character. In the heart of quaint Granville Ferry you can unwind on the waters edge, talk to seals, watch ospreys, blue herons and bald eagles and be awoken by the roosters of the sea. A jacuzzi with a rock waterfall awaits (really) in your large bathroom. Your room has a separate entrance at the back of house. Queen bed, bar fridge, keurig, gym, garden, fire bowl, laundry...
Your room is located on the backside (waterside) of the house on ground level. You share the entrance to the house with a full-time tenant (Wendy, she is awesome!) but your room is entirely private (has a lock as well but not needed in Granville Ferry). Laundry is just down the hall - and a well-equipped gym to boot - something good to do while your washing clothes ;)
Granville Ferry is a picturesque, quiet old village - a great place to unwind. Lots of local attractions to see and things to do: Town of Annapolis Royal is a 15 minute stroll away, tidal power generating station (of which you have a great view from the backyard), Port Royal Habitation (one of the first European settlements in N. America). There is lots more to do and discover, check out your info sheet in the room and let's talk. Also, if you are here for a house hunting trip - let it be known that I am a Home Inspector - you can find my website here: http://rehomeinspections.com
  • Phillip was an excellent host. The arrangements were very clean and welcoming. Situated on an amazing property with great views. The rock wall jacuzzi was definitely a highlight! Phil was helpful and available for whatever we needed. A fantastic stay that anyone would enjoy!

  • Philipp went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. He greeted us warmly as soon as we arrived, and showed us everything we needed to know. The amenities in the suite are great, from the fully stoked mini fridge to the amazing jacuzzi tub. Thanks for a great stay Philipp, we hope to cross paths again!

  • A lovely spot. Amazing host. Take time to sit on the viewing bench and watch the gulls soar, the water move and feel the peace.

    Linda2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We sat in the backyard overlooking the river and saw seals swimming by. Phil had great suggestions (breakfast at the campground!) and seemed to genuinely care about our stay. We also met Wendy who you share the entrance with and she was friendly and gracious. The room is large and the bathroom is lovely with the waterfall tub. Highly recommended.

    Jennifer2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Phil was a fantastic host! Room is incredibly interesting - worth hearing Phil's stories on the evolution of the place. Very clean, lots of thoughtful amenities provided. Great view from the garden, close to the shops and restaurants (few minutes by car). Only downside is the bed is a little firm - otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Rebecca's home is well situated on a quiet street in Granville Ferry. The home was immaculately clean upon arrival with a bowl of fresh blueberries left for us on the kitchen table which we devoured. We used the available salt, pepper and oil to make dinner. We had booked four (4) nights but got the urge to move onward toward Digby after night two (2). Rebecca kindly accommodated our request and we were refunded the balance that day. Good value. Clear expectations. Thank you Rebecca for a lovely stay. You helped make our honeymoon a great one!

The view is nothing short of amazing, and overlooks the garden backyard and the Annapolis River backing onto the town of Annapolis Royal. See Sal's Place for additional pictures. Hot breakfast includes fresh organic eggs from my own hens on premises.
The room is well furnished and comfortably decorated providing a queen size bed, desk and chair, dresser, nightstand etc. This room is often referred too as a the garden or river view room.
Located in the community of Granville Ferry, you will feel right at home going for a morning or evening walk looking at the various heritage homes bordering the oldest road in North America.. Granville Road. A short walk into Annapolis Royal along the tidal causeway awaits you.
  • This is a house with lots of history (1790) and full of interesting collected treasures that all have a story to tell. A few minutes drive from Annapolis Royal where I was taking a workshop so it was great to be able to get there easily and fast. The surrounding area is just beautiful to drive around and take photographs and enjoy the scenery. Sal is a great cook and his breakfasts are amazing!

    Dolores2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sal was very friendly and funny. We enjoyed the conversations and the breakfast. The breakfast was yummy! With fresh eggs and homegrown apples. Bedroom and bathroom were clean. It was a pleasant stay.

  • Staying at Sal's was a pleasure from start to finish. He gave us a tour of the place as soon as we walked in, and can tell you the about the history of the region, points of interest and local restaurants and businesses. He is a great conversationalist and he had us laughing the whole time. He has an awesome view of the harbour and a nice back deck to relax on. He was very generous to make us breakfast from fruit and veg right from his garden, and eggs straight from his hens. He even stocked us up with peaches and eggs as we headed off to Keji. If we return to the region, we would love to stay again!

    Jamie2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sal's Place was a delight. A fascinating historic area and a two hundred-year-old house filled with period antiques and quirky collectibles. Not a museum, just the owner's larger-than-life personality. A comfortable bed and reading lamp, a clean bathroom with a hot shower, congenial guests in another room, and a delicious, unexpected dinner made this a high point of my travel week.

    Linda2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Handsdown the best stay I've had through AirBnB. What made it was not the amazing location or the lovely home but it was Sal. Sal not only made us a home cooked meal but spent the evening entertaining us. He is generous and very welcoming. Can't say enough good things about the experience we had.

    Renna2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend staying at Sal's place in Annapolis Royal! This was a last minute booking for us and we are not used to staying in private rooms (versus a whole suite), but Sal immediately made us feel like friends and comfortable in his home. He definitely sets the bar higher and defines what a superior host at a BnB should be. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay (although sadly only one night) and will miss Sal and his entertaining stories!

A 15 min stroll welcomes you to Annapolis Royal with it's outdoor (summer) vibrant Farmers Mkt., Gift & Antique Shops, Restaurants, Arts & Culture. 5 min drive to Port Royal Habitation, 10 min to Upper Clements. Or just sit on your back deck and soak in that view!
My place is good for couples and well behaved small pets. The master bedroom is located on the main floor. The bathroom with claw tub (and hand held shower) is on the upper floor. There are also 2 more bedrooms upstairs, but they are unfurnished. There is High Speed Internet & a Smart TV, but you're in The Country, so streaming videos/movies etc takes a little longer than in The City. The kitchen and bathroom ceilings are 6ft 6" high, so if you're quite tall then watch out :) (main living and bedroom are 7 feet high).
Granville Ferry is a quaint, quiet village. Please keep outdoor noise down and quiet after 11pm (pls respect our wonderful neighbours)
  • We had a lovely time in Granville Ferry. Highly recommend Restaurant Composé and we had great hike at Delaps Cove. Was just the relaxing weekend getaway we were looking for. Thank you!!

  • Great location, fantastic view. Clean, quiet and safe. We and our dog were made to feel very welcome and were comfortable during our four-day visit. Sandra and Jim even left us some treats!

  • We had a relaxing stay here in late November & despite some challenges Sandra was quick to respond and so accomodating!

  • 160 year old heritage home on a gorgeous piece of waterfront property. Quite rustic, but comfortable if you don't mind older home aromas. Although we didn't get to meet Sandra and Jim they were great hosts in providing information about events in the area. We loved Granville Ferry and Annapolis Royal!

    Sherry2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely 150 year old plus house. The hosts left us two cold beer and on arrival we walked down their lawn to the water and chairs and looked across to the amazing view of Annapolis Royal......the oldest year round settled town in Canada . We noticed a previous review mentioned an "old house" smell. This is true but it is quite mild and hey...... it's a very old house and has such character, charm and amazing view that we got passed this right away. Beautiful old bath tub upstairs with bubble bath and bath bomb. This house has great potential and appears to be a work in progress, where improvements are continuing. They just added a lovely deck and you will see by the photo how beautiful the location is, A few extension chord challenges to make light works and perhaps hotel bedding would make this lovely old p lace a 10! We would definitely return and greatly appreciated the efficient, welcoming and quick response from the hosts! Why can't I attach a photo??!!!

  • The house is excellent, full of charm and character and surrounded by beautiful views and historic buildings and museums. Angela went above and beyond to help us when we arrived early and exhausted. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. I highly recommend this host and house.

    Chris2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Angela's house. The house is perfectly located for wandering around town and having great coffee / meals out. It's sparkling clean and has a really great kitchen ... perfect when traveling with a baby and your evenings entertainment is cooking! Angela was a fantastic host and looked after us really well ... even giving our 5 month daughter her first Halloween outfit and lending her some toys! A really great Airbnb experience ... and she has a shop next door with some really lovely things that we couldn't resist and will be a wonderful reminder of our holidays! Thanks so much!

  • This house is all it appears to be and more. Everything inside is new, from the floors and walls, bathrooms, and fittings, to the furnishings, kitchenware, and linens. Everything is there to have a perfect stay, whether eating out or dining in. We had been to Annapolis Royal for a day last year, but loved it so much we rented this house for nine days. Sometimes we ate out, but many meals were eaten on the back deck, watching the squirrels. A neighbor's cat also visited us every day. She was polite and friendly, as I've found most Canadians to be. Angela was a great host, greeting us when we arrived. She also left us a loaf of bread and a jar of home made jam; unnecessary but appreciated nonetheless. The house is furnished with pamphlets for all the local sights and attractions but Angela also gave us great suggestions on places to go and things to see. I can't recommend this place enough, both the rental and the town. Don't miss the farmers market on Wed and Saturday, the beer at the pub next door, the tomato soup at Bistro East, or the coffee from Sissiboo Café. Angela's folk art store next to the house carries some of the best curated folk art that Nova Scotia has to offer.

    Donny2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely heritage house in the heart of Annapolis Royal. So convenient for walks, restaurants, shops and pub. The house has had just about everything needed for a good stay. Angela has the shop next door so is on hand to answer any questions. Highly recommend.

    Leslie2017-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was a real pleasure to be Angela's very first guests. As a first time user of AirBnB I really did not know what to expect. Angela made the very comfortable town house feel like it was waiting especially for us....even fresh strawberries waiting when we arrived! She considered even the subtlest details that made it very natural to stay in and cook in a well outfitted kitchen or simply sit out back on the porch for a bbq out back. Of course, I can't forget sleeping peacefully in the comfortable bed. I hope to return one day!

    jay2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Angela's house is a treasure and she is a friendly and efficient Host. Traditional 2 storey home in a pretty street looking out at the harbour with a nice deck at the rear with a picturesque back garden. Spotlessly clean. Two modern bathrooms with walk-in showers complete with lovely towels. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable furnishings and appropriate artworks are in keeping with the heritage house and general location with the result that you really feel that you are staying in an Annapolis Royal home and not some anonymous investment rental. Highly recommended.

    paul2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • River House is amazing. Fresh and clean; everything you need is there. Just bring your food. This space is comfortable and welcoming just like Angela.

    Constance2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The River House is a fabulous house to stay in. It's facilities plus location are absolute winners, plus in Angela you have a host who makes sure everything goes perfectly. There is so much to see and do in Annapolis Royal, and to be staying in such a central location ensures that they are all easy to get to. Some great restaurants are nearby, or alternatively a BBQ in your own lovely back garden. Highly recommended!

Join Us at One of Annapolis Royal’s Most Iconic Heritage Properties. Hillsdale House Inn was built in 1859 by Susan Forbes Foster. She operated Hillsdale House as a first-rate inn, and for more than 150 years the inn has been accommodating visitors to Annapolis Royal. The inn offers 13 well-appointed guestrooms combining a refreshing mix of Victorian charm, timeless hospitality and many of the comforts of modern lifestyle. Our goal is to weave the intimacy of a bed & breakfast inn with the privacy and conveniences of a small hotel; the best of both worlds. Imagine relaxing after your full country breakfast in the Foster or Perkins Parlour, on the covered or open veranda, or in the gardens. Oh yes, you won’t need to stop for lunch!
We are conveniently located within the historic Town of Annapolis Royal (a federally designated National Historic District) and a short drive from the world renowned Bay of Fundy. The inn sits on a 12-acre estate, with manicured lawns, stately trees and numerous gardens.
  • The Host gave us a good overview of the sights to see, the local restaurants and cafes as well as events in Annapolis Royal. The house (a pleasure to stay at) was equipped with detailed current information on local restaurants.

    Daniel2015-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Val greeted us when we arrived. Everything about the inn was open and welcoming. We could smell baking bread as we walked in the door. Val directed us to a lovely restaurant in Annapolis Royal for our last night in the area. She encouraged us to go on the candlelight graveyard tour at Fort Anne. Even in a light mist, the tour was very enlightening about the fascinating history of Annapolis Royal. The breakfast was delicious; the service friendly and professional. Every element--the books, the lamps, the furniture, the rugs--all evoked a more gracious and elegant era. Great inn.

  • The house is well equipped and in a nice neighborhood. We really enjoyed the time there with a very friendly host and especially Patricia’s awesome breakfast. We will recommend it every time again.

    Lutz2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • I lived staying here. Patricia is an outstanding hostess. She made us breakfast and even sent me with food for the road when I set out on my long bike ride. She really was a much needed bright spot after I had some bike repair issues. I was off the next day and feeling great thanks to her. Also, the place is huge, beautiful, and kept in perfect condition!!

  • Patricia was an excellent Hostest of the Mostest! Wow.. .I thought that I had that much energy that she has.. LOL. Great stay, the other guest were lovely, especially Bob Breakfast was incredible with our 2 day stay. Definitely will return in a heartbeat. Hi Patricia from Lisa and Dan

    Lisa2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Patricia's place. A spacious, rambling, beautifully restored historic inn on the oldest street in North America. Patricia was an amazing host, greeting us (great communication too), made us feel right at home, and quickly recommended and then phoned in a reservation at an awesome restaurant in Annapolis. (Garrison House... go there!!!) The room was incredibly spacious, lovely furnishing, a super-comfy chaise lounge - yes the bed was a double, but we had all the room we needed in the comfy bed. Nice view into her back yard garden. In the morning we were treated to the best breakfast we had our trip - a lot of food, which was great as we had a day of whale watching ahead of us (out on Digby Neck, a two-hour drive.) We stayed another night, really enjoying conversations and great hospitality. We felt at home so fast here - and Patricia was so open and generous. This is an amazing value for all that you get. Beautiful location, right across from Annapolis Royale (do the graveyard tour). All in all, an awesome AirBnB - one of the best.

  • We had a great stay with Patricia! One of our top experiences with Airbnb. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Her home is spacious and beautifully renovated. And breakfast was delicious! We would gladly stay with her again.

  • Patricia is a super host who opens her home and her heart to all her guests. She has tons of great information about the area and if you take her advice you will have a wonderful time in the area talking with the fabulous people of the community and eating great food. This historic home is wonderfully relaxing, spotless and the rooms all have a unique and comfortable feel. I also had a great time sitting around the bowling alley table in the kitchen and chatting with the other guests and listening to their travel stories. Oh and did I mention the breakfast? Patricia goes above and beyond to start your day with a hearty meal made with love. Staying in this historic character home is a MUST!

  • Great house/renovated hotel, nicely decorated. Good location mins by car from Royal Annapolis. I didn't meet the host but we communicated by text. There are several bathrooms at different floors with different amenities (shower/ bath). Luckily i found another guest who told me where the shower was as the bathroom on my floor only had a bath. All are Shared bathrooms. Bedroom is beautiful. ps: The mosquito net in my window had a big hole.

  • Patricia is a very friendly and gracious host. We hardly got on door and she was already offering us wine and munchies, we felt this was going to be a good one and it was!! Her place is exactly as described full of character, an almost fully restored old heritage house, very clean with modern and original touches. Breakfast was fabulous and she took request for my favourites! highly recommend staying here.! We hope to return and visit again someday. She was the most welcoming host into her living area that we encountered so far on Airbnb. Stay here !!

    Steve2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This house has character! It used to be an old inn and Patricia has put so much work into it that her home is stunning! I would not recommend it if you have difficulty with stairs but other than that it is a great location 5-10 minutes from downtown Annapolis. Everything she promised and more is waiting for those who are lucky enough to stay.

  • I arrived late in the day, and Art and Martha were there to welcome me and help me with my luggage. Because I was the only guest, they gave me my choice of rooms. Two of them overlook the town of Annapolis Royal across the inlet - try to get one of those! As a solo traveler, I was treated like family. Martha even drove me to the Graveyard Tour! Both hosts joined me for breakfast the next morning, and we had great conversations about genealogy. The home is one of the oldest in the area, but updates (like lots of electrical outlets in the room) help you to enjoy the historical charm. I highly recommend this, and hope to return some day.

  • Beautiful historic home with welcoming hosts. We stayed in the Lawrence room which had a beautiful view of the water and Annapolis Royal. This room had a private bathroom down the hall which was not a problem. The breakfast was outstanding and Martha even packed us a cinnamon roll for the road.

  • Martha and her husband were most gracious hosts accommodating our late arrival when our whale tour lasted several hours longer than expected. She even made us a bite to eat when it was apparent that all of the local restaurants were already closed for the evening. We had a delightful visit with other guests from Saskatchewan. A great location for biking along the shores of the Annapolis Basin with little traffic. We couldn't have asked for a better experience even if we were staying with family.
