All about St Austell
Lying just a few kilometres inland from the southern Cornish coast, St Austell is one of the largest and most significant towns in the region. This historically noteworthy market town has meandering cafe-lined streets with brilliant stone-built Georgian architecture and 15th-century churches. A thriving High Street commerce district provides some of the best shopping in Cornwall, and local restaurants in St Austell serve fresh seafood from the nearby coastal waters.
With the coast and hinterlands easily accessible, there are several opportunities for outdoor recreation like hiking, surfing, kayaking, and the exploration of historical sites, such as Restormel Castle. For a wider selection of cultural offerings, St Austell makes a great jumping-off point to check out the surrounding communities of Newquay, Plymouth, and Falmouth.
