Places to stay in Willow River
This sweet little modern log cabin is just a short distance from the shores of Second Lake in Willow River, MN! Second Lake Hideaway is located 2 miles off of Interstate I-35! 100 miles North of the Twin cities and 50 miles South of Duluth. This is the perfect place to lose yourself for a week or weekend to find relaxation!
Second Lake is a 44 acre private (no public access), serene, quiet lake with a spectacular view from anywhere on the lake. The cabin presents 2 bedrooms one with queen bed, one with full size bed. Full kitchen (no dishwasher) and full bath. Extras include free onsite washer and dryer, cable tv, and wireless internet! Enjoy a spacious camp fire area for those chilly, Minnesota nights, and our outdoor hot tub for the even chillier ones! Lake is visible from cabin although there is no lake access or swimming area. Although at the cabin, there is a little trail that leads to a dock... the dock is not practical for use. To access the lake, you would have a short 4 minute walk down a pretty wooded driveway! There you would find paddle boat, canoe and row boat to use. We have four adult size life jackets available. Sorry- we cannot allow pets.
This is a very peaceful, beautiful and serene cabin spot! The cabin is located on a dead end road, with minimal traffic. .
  • It was great, we really enjoyed the hot tub and it was close to great hiking. The beds were super comfy! Great place to stay!

  • Lisa and her husband are so welcoming and their cabin is just perfect!! Everytime we come we love it and has become a favorite place!!

    Susie2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great! Lisa is so sweet and helpful. Although the hot tub was broken, she made sure we were reimbursed appropriately and did everything she could to try to fix it. It was still a wonderful time and the cabin was a perfect weekend get away!

    Jenny2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great, quiet getaway. This was our second time back and I’m sure we will be back in the future!

    Robin2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is a wonderful host, responsive during our stay, but gave us lots of privacy. The cabin is lovely, the hot tub is clean and has a great view of the lake. I would highly recommend this rental!

    Emily2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing cabin to have for the weekend. The hot tub looked out on the lake which was really beautiful, and it was warm enough in the 30 degree weather. The cabin had everything we needed and the pizza in the freezer from their own company was SO good.

    Miah2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and great spot! We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and fishing and watching the sunset from the paddle boat. Would return in the future!

  • A cabin with a north country rural lake feel but close to the Mpls metro area. Just a couple miles off the interstate but on a dead-end road that is quiet. Updated very nicely with thoughtful amenities, warm & wonderful outdoor hot tub, and a well-outfitted kitchen. Plan to come back for a longer visit.

  • Joseph was thoughtful on behalf of his guests. We felt well cared for even though they had never met us. "Nana and Papa's" place was tidy, peaceful, and full of character. It is a nice distance from the cities for a weekend getaway, but quiet, and close enough to state parks and other great locations for day trips. We enjoyed spending part of a day at the beautiful Kettle River in Banning State Park very close by. Our hosts also provided plenty of suggestions for local fun in Finlayson. Overall, it was very lovely and cozy (but spacious too) for our winter getaway.

  • Very comfortable place, great location, wonderful hosts.

    Brian2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed by Joe's hospitality and the house was exceptionally well stocked with all the comforts of home. Definitely be back again and eager to bring our family.

  • An awesome retreat with wonderful hosts. Everything needed was provided along with many little details and amenities that made the stay very enjoyable.

    John2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a good weekend in or a touch of home for a weekday, you’ve found your place! Mel and Joe are great hosts, private yet hospitable; they are as involved or uninvolved in your stay as you’d like. The place itself is very Minnesota-esque and truly feels like home (your grandparents’ place in the best way possible). The hosts included great touches, such as instructions for the TV, seasonings & small snacks, and sensible toiletries. Would recommend staying here!

Beautiful house built in 1912, refurbished back close to its original glory with up to date kitchen. It was the 2nd house built in Askov for the banker. Original pocket doors and trim put back in the house. I still have minor renovations to do such as cleaning the trim and pockets doors, and finishing the 3 season porch. If your looking for a stay closer to Duluth, please check out my Brookston Bungalow located in Brookston MN. Please note it's $25 per person per night after the first 2 guests
House was built in 1912, the second house built in the town for the banker. It was completely gutted in 2017 and remodeled. Original trim along with 2 sets of pocket doors were put back in the house. Two of the original windows were kept in the house, one in the dining room and one in the living room. I still have details to finish such as cleaning the woodwork, finishing the 3 season porch but most of it is finished. I do have RING security on the premises that alerts/records the entrances and driveway for security for my guests. It also allows me to know how many guests are arriving. I have everything for you to enjoy your stay, including condiments, shampoo and conditioner. All you need to bring is the food and your clothing. Audubon Center of the NorthWoods is 16 minutes away.
Quiet neighborhood that has a little of everything. Grocery store, bar/grill, pizza place, gas station. Nearby Sandstone (6 miles) has Hard Water Sports with climbing tours, rafting and tubing, Robinson Quarry Ice Park, Banning State Park. Askov was the Rutabega Capital of the World and all the streets are named in Danish. The 4th weekend in August is the Rutabega Festival.
  • Wonderful as always.

  • We loved our stay at Brenda's! The house was beautiful, clean, quiet and had everything we needed. I highly recommend staying here; we are already planning our stay for next year!

    Molly2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay!

    Cheryl2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I LOVED this house. The price was right, it’s not far from Duluth, the city is so cute, and the house... The photos do not do it justice. It is historic yet beautifully restored with a modern kitchen. It also has so many interesting spaces to explore. Brenda’s decorating taste is impeccable and the little touches she added like shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotions, bottled water, coffee, hair dryer will help you to pack light. The bed was so comfy. The shower was luxurious. My hair looked great and my skin glowed. We are already talking about when we can come back!! Plus, I want my mom to stay here. She’d love it, too. Thank you!

    Kimberly2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We are repeat visitors to Brenda's house for a reason! Brenda is a wonderful and generous host, responds quickly, and makes your stay very comfortable and easy. Her renovated historic home is incredibly spacious and very cozy and she has provided everything you'll need, and more! Brenda's home is located in a great spot too. Check out Banning State Park which is minutes away and enjoy the beautiful trails through the woods and along the picturesque Kettle River. The Pioneer Museum in Askov is fascinating too, if you enjoy history and perusing historic artifacts. Thanks Brenda for another great visit to the Askov area!

    Kathy2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Airbnb, and I was a little anxious, but it was wonderful. Brenda has a gorgeous home. It's warm and comfortable. My dog also loved it. We travel to Minnesota about once a month, and have stayed at hotels. This was far better than a hotel. I felt safe and comfortable. Thank you so much!

    Annie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I found myself just simply enjoying the beautiful work of restoration of this older home. It is a homey atmosphere in a cute small town in the north woods of Minnesota. Everything was provided. Directions for use were clear. Communication with Brenda was awesome. I couldn't have had a nicer stay or experience. I highly recommend staying in her home. Oh, and the bed I slept in was very comfortable!

Located on 4 acres with 300 feet of lake shore Remodeled house on Island Lake in northern Minnesota; with boating, fishing, canoeing. kayaking, swimming optional. House has kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom, and two bedrooms. Couch opens up into a bed. You will enjoy an outstanding view of the lake, and the sounds of wild life in our private, restful setting. A fire pit is also available for enjoying our evening nights.
We are 42 miles from Duluth and amazing Lake Superior and 90 miles from the Twin cities. Easy access to ATV and snowmobile trails. Excellent small game and Deer hunting near by.
We live next door so if you need something we can help you. We have a canoe and kayak available for your use, if so desired. Swimming and dock use are also available for your stay with us. There will also be a sample of Gloria's famous chocolate chip cookies and blueberry muffins in your welcome basket. Muskie Lake Cabin is located on a four acre parcel in a quiet, wooded area with deer and other wildlife on Island Lake with fishing. Dave caught two twelve pound northerns this spring off our dock.
  • This is a GREAT guest house with wonderfully kind hosts. The hosts live in a house that is yards away from the guest house, so you have the benefit of genuine privacy within the guest house, coupled with the convenience of having hosts very close in the event a need would arise to hail them. I stayed there in the winter (January), so it was obviously quite cold outside. I was gone during the day and kept the thermostat down pretty low. When we'd get to the guest house in the evening we'd turn the thermostat up and it would warm up really, really fast. There is a big window with a beautiful view of the lake. It's in a gorgeous location, and only 2 or 3 miles away from Moose Lake. Excellent location! Everything works, place was very clean, beds were comfortable, bedding was great, towels were soft, etc. I stayed at the guest house for the better part of a week with my 27 year old daughter (we were in town to spend time with a close family member who was at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake) and both my daughter and I absolutely loved being able to unwind in the evening at the guest house. I would stay at this place again and/or recommend it to others without hesitation.

    Lisa2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • David is awesome! Extremely helpful and kind. The place is very clean and cute! We will definitely be back, probably in the summer time to enjoy the sunshine and amazing view of the Lake!

    Madison2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • David was awesome! Went out ice fishing on the lake he came down walked around with us. They live in the house right next door and was very accommodating. Look forward to visiting in the summer.

    Evan2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • David’s place was perfect for our stay! The house was cozy and beautifully decorated for Christmas when we arrived. There were homemade muffins and a clean, warm house. My in-laws even got to see deer! Wonderful hospitality and memories we’ll treasure.

    Nicole2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and David was a great host. We were able to check in minutes after booking the place which was incredibly convenient!

    Amanda2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and spacious, yummy homemade muffins for breakfast. Gorgeous lake view. Very clean and owners are super friendly!

    Lacy2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location for a girls weekend getaway!! Close to state parks, excellent restaurants, and unique shopping...but best of all is the view from the house itself. AMAZING lake view with beautiful sunsets. So many nice extra touches from welcome cookies to a great fire pit, comfy beds, big fluffy towels...really made for a comfortable stay.

    Jennifer2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home! The view was beautiful and the home was easy to get to. It was just as descripted and communication with the host was very easy! The only downside during my stay was the weather! Regardless, I still had a wonderful stay!

Beautifully designed year-round home consisting of a renovated 1940's log cabin attached to a larger dwelling with two and a half baths, loft, living room and full kitchen. Swimming, boating, fishing are available in the summer. Ice fishing, snowshoeing are available in the winter. Abundant wild life in the area, beautiful sunsets, relaxing atmosphere with large windows looking out on lake-shore on south and east side of the house.
The space is adaptable depending on guests' desires and preferences. I will communicate regarding a booking to be sure that our place meets your expectations and needs. You are welcome to use the kitchen - and there is wood available for the wood stove - But please be careful. I ask that you take sheets off the bed when you are leaving - leave them on top of the bed along with any other linens you have used. Generally I will not be physically present during your stay, but can always text or call me with questions. And our guest hosts - the Mossbergs- are in the area and available for specific needs or questions.
This is a quiet neighborhood - most neighbors are seasonal and not present during the winter months. Moose Lake has some interesting places to visit - If you have time, the museum is worth your time - and I would recommend checking out Joe Jitter's - a coffeehouse on the main street of town - as well as The Lazy Moose Restaurant. Our place is well suited however for time away from the stress and “noise” of life in a busy urban area. Here you can relax, read, take walks, receive soothing calm from the beauty of nature that will surround you.
  • We had a great stay at Gracia's cabin! The cabin was sparkling clean. Loved the heated floors and the fireplace. A beautiful view from every window. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Clean, peaceful, beautiful view

    Sarah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lofted cabin on the lake with lots of natural light. Did some ice fishing and caught a bunch of crappie and perch. Host was very hospitable and quick to respond. Thank you.

    Joleen2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our second stay at Gracia's place. Enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Great all around.

  • 5 stars! My son and I stayed here for the weekend during a hockey tournament. Everything about this place is exceptional including the communication with the host. I would love to experience it in the summer if I have the chance. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking into it. Even on overcast winter days the scenery was nice.

    Jason2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful river house! Feels like you’re relaxing at your grandma’s place. The house had everything we needed. Nice heating. Loved the fireplace

    연주2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful, comfortable home and we were able to truly relax and spend time together. Just what we needed and exactly as described.

    Trevor2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This space is really special, as were the hosts. We needed help figuring out the heated floor system, and the hosts were there 5 minutes after we called. There wasn’t a thing we needed or wanted that wasn’t provided. And the view! Right on the lake (going around 2 sides of the home). Snowed off and on during our stay, and huge windows everywhere to drink in nature. We’ll be back for sure! Vicky

A nice, quiet space with a cabin feel and a large fenced in yard. Coffee and tea are included in your stay. TV includes local channels and Netflix.
Quiet place, cabin feel, close to the exit to the interstate. Close to Lazy Bear Grill in Barnum and 5 miles from Moose Lake (restaurants, brewery, groceries). Across highway from Bear Lake, easy access. 2 minute drive to the Munger Trail.
Small town Barnum has only a population of 613 people. There's a Mobile gas station along with the Lazy Bear Café and the Chickadee coffee house all close by to my house. There's the Barnum Muni (bar), the fair grounds, another little café, and close to the Willard Munger Trail.
  • This was my second stay at Staci's this year. As before, the space provided everything I needed and was cozy and clean. Staci is very hospitable and easy to talk to - I truly consider her a friend. She is more than willing to interact with guests as well as allowing any privacy a guest might desire. I highly recommend Staci's large basement unit since it is a great jumping off spot for visiting upper Minnesota - both summer and winter.

    Lauri2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Staci's place was very clean and cozy! She has a great DVD collection and we had a fun time watching horror movies in the nice living room/media area outside our bedroom. Super cute spot and a quick drive up to Duluth and Jay Cooke state park. Check-in was very easy. I recommend Staci's place! :)

    Jackie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Staci was very helpful. We had the whole lower level to ourselves which was carpeted and cozy. It has a living room/lounging area which was great. The mattress was very comfortable - felt like a dense, foam mattress.

    Liam2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This home is beautiful and in a great location to make a quick trip north. It was easy to find and close to a great coffee shop. I loved all the space in the basement and it was nice to unwind watching tv after a busy day.

    Ben2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Staci is amazing and so is her dog Grizz they are both welcoming.

    Sam2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Typically I think about Airbnbs as some spare room in a small apartment in the city. Not so with Staci's place. It is a little out of the way, but exactly as advertised: an entire furnished basement, with bed, bath, and living room. My partner and I gasped when we realized where it was, too. The house itself has a stunning view of the forested lake across the highway. If you're looking for a spot to day-trip to Duluth or hike the parks in the area, you'll be comfortable here. Oh, and Staci provided a coffee maker for us, which was truly a cherry on top.

    Noah2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Staci’s place is a great little oasis of comfort close to Duluth! Would definitely recommend staying here if you are going up North!

Cross Country Ski trails, snowshow trails, and snowmobile trails all available! Kathio State park offers ski and snowshoe rentals. Father Hennepin State Park is located 20 miles away. There are 2 restaurants, a gas station/convenience store within 3 miles of the house. Otherwise, a few neighbors. This is a country setting, so it's quiet.
  • Wonderful space to relax and refresh for the night. The beds were soft and comfortable. I got the best night's sleep I've seen in quite a while too! My room was stocked as you'd find at a higher-end hotel- coffee pot, snacks, fridge. Fresh homemade cookies were awesome! The bathroom was clean and organized too. Shower has great hot water and really good water pressure. Very relaxing experience. I arrived with my RAM 1500 truck and 12' V nose enclosee trailer. Plenty of room for me to pull in, park and turn around as needed. With also ample light to see at night when unloading. I travel up this way threw out the year, and will definitely be back for a stay!

    Dave2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Robin’s Place was perfect for our needs. We just needed a place to crash the night before the Mora Vasaloppet race, with adequate room to organize our gear. With that in mind, it was better than a hotel room at twice the price. There was just two of us, so we had more than enough room to spread out our gear. If we had four there would been still plenty of room. Real convenient to be able park right outside the door for loading and unloading. Bathroom was plenty spacious, allowing room for dressing as well as the usual. Great plus was the provision of basic breakfast foods (Fruit, oatmeal cups, Clif Bars, tea & Coffee) and toiletry items. Robin’s place is a bit off the beaten path, but for many that’s a plus. The house is situated on a beautiful wooded lot. If you are hungry, you don’t have to go all the way back to Mora. There are some good restaurants nearby on Hwy 65.

    Rick2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If I could have given 6 stars, I would have. The stay was very clean, spotless. There were snacks/fruits/coffee on the dresser, and shampoo/toothpaste/toothbrush in the bathroom if we'd forgotten anything. Speaking of the bathroom, best water pressure in any Airbnb stay I've experienced! Their dog was friendly, and quiet, and kept sperate from the rooms until we just had to say hello. The rooms/beds were very comfortable, as well. This place worked perfect for our needs.

New cabin on a small small lake and 26 acres of woods. Close to Duluth, Casinos, swimming and fishing lakes, snowmobile and ATV trails. Fall colors are spectacular.
Easy access from highway yet a feeling of seclusion. This property surrounds 95% of a small lake. The locals call the lake Mirror lake. Some say its the stunning reflections or the way the lake is divided by an island. A second lake connected by a channel also has a name given to it by the Locals. The name has a storied past and is best explained in person. This property is ATV and snowmobiler friendly. There are 100's of miles of riding trails that you can drive directly from the cabin. This cabin is virtually brand new construction. New stove and refrigerator. In terms of location the property is only 30 minutes from Duluth, 15 minutes from Moose Lake, 35 minutes from Hinckley. So if you have additional time available for a local brewery, casino (3), plays, movies, tours, etc you have plenty of options. While the well is brand new, there is a high iron content to the water. We do have an iron filter on it, which makes the water clear, but a slight metallic taste/ smell remains. The water is potable/drinkable and has been tested.
This is a rural cabin. Lots and lots and lots of woods. Deer, owls, muskrats, ducks, geese, wild turkeys can occasionally be seen. You will hear occasional country sounds of a train in the background.
  • Jeff’s cabin is quintessentially Minnesotan. It’s was sparkling clean and fully stocked with the necessities to make our stay perfect. The space was absolutely amazing- so was the quiet secluded location - perfectly located just south of Duluth right in the middle of the wilderness. This is the place for you if you appreciate the little things -amenities - quiet wilderness- with in a quick drive to Duluth. We absolutely appreciated the dog friendly space.

  • Fantastic cabin. Wifi was spotty at times and the floor is cold (bring slippers) but it was very comfortable and we loved the trails on the property. Highly recommend!

  • Great little cabin in the woods. Every think we needed!

    Heidi2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was tidy, smelled nice, very open comfortable and homey atmosphere to really do whatever is desired. Internet was spotty on the really cold days of the winter time, understandably due to there being just one service in the area, but other than that, everything was excellent.

    Drew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay - the cabin was spotless, in a beautiful location, and the kitchen was well-stocked with utensils, dishes, and cookware. Jeff was a great host, and even lent us snowshoes to use on a trail around the property!

    Daniel2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful spot if you’re looking for a secluded, quiet, clean, and amazing cabin! Highly recommend!

  • Simple yet cozy and very well equipped and well-maintained place. Awesome place for a "retreat".

    Kirk2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. It was clean and cozy. Jeff met us when we got there; took us through a quick tour and answered any questions we had. He was friendly and welcoming. Cool secluded area, great for exploring. Our pups loved it! A winter storm passed through, while we were there, and he had it plowed and shoveled for us. We will be going back for another getaway.

  • Cute place to stay! It was so quiet and clean! Definitely would go there again!

    Alanna2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Very secluded in the woods. So many trees! Would not recommend staying here if you plan on driving back and fourth to Duluth... it is quite a drive. Other than that, the cabin was very simple and clean. Enjoyed watching a movie one night with the movies they provided. Amazing place for a bonfire.

    Erin2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a place to rest and relax then this cabin in the woods would be perfect for you. A beautiful setting where all you hear is the rustle of the leaves and bird chirp here and there. Quite peaceful and calming. The cabin itself is clean and spacious with everything you need from a full size refrigerator and stove to pots and pans, separate bedroom and large living/dining area. Tricia was a wonderful host who always responded quickly and made check in a breeze. She was so very kind and shared some wonderful produce from her garden too! We had 3 great days there. Should we ever be back in the area we certainly would look to book Tricia’s cabin in the woods again.

    Pamela2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a scenic and private getaway, Tricia is the perfect host for you. She was absolutely fantastic.

Our lake home is located on Sturgeon Island on Sturgeon Lake which is accessed by an amazing old red covered bridge. The home sits on nearly two acres of private property on the north east side of Sturgeon Island. We own the land to the east of the home which is fully wooded providing tons of privacy to enjoy nature and our resident bald eagles! This is a truly unique property with plenty of space and privacy and relaxation.
The main floor has amazing lake views from almost every single room. Enjoy your morning coffee from the living room while watching for eagles or take it outside to our wrap around deck and three season screened in porch. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a large screen door to walk right out onto the lake front deck. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a pack and play for a little one. The lower level has a walk out patio with amazing lake views and a large sectional sofa with flat screen TV. You will also find a full bathroom and private Swedish Sauna large enough for 4-6 people. Finally the lower level includes a private bedroom with seating area and full size bed. The home is fully appointed with everything you need for your vacation. It has all the modern amenities like Google Home for music and Roku devices on all the tvs. The layout makes it perfect for multiple families to enjoy the lake but also plenty of space to spread out. We have a grill available for use outside as well as a paddle boat and canoe with life jackets. The FISHING on Sturgeon lake is amazing you will enjoy going out in the morning and coming back with dinner! We are also on a natural well with great drinking water! If you want an amazing quiet retreat on an awesome lake under two hours from the city this is your spot!
Lots of things to do and see in the area. We recommend checking out some of the local golf courses or grabbing a beer at Moose Lake Brewery! Skiing is also close by in Duluth.

  • Really enjoyed our stay at Skylor’s. We went in the winter, and loved the sauna and fireplace. It was secluded enough for privacy but near lots of good walking and hiking trails. Great amenities, cozy rooms, they gave us some local tips for things to do, and had great communication. Highly recommend!

    David2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not capture the full charm and beauty of this place. A perfect cozy getaway from the cities!

    Molly2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable place for a quiet get away! Skylor did a nice job answering any questions we had.

    Karla2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a winter weekend! Clean and cozy, fireplace and sauna, open kitchen, nice amenities - and Skylor is the most kind and responsive host you could hope for! Water pressure is generally weak and sensitive due to the on-site well, however, this is advertised in the listing and in nice notes in the bathrooms, and it adds to the charm of living the lake life. Great cabin in a beautiful spot - highly recommended!

A cozy cabin with country charm on the bank of the Bear Creek in Cloverdale, MN! The 588 sq ft cabin has two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, livingroom, a beautiful stone gas fireplace and pine wood floors. Outside there is a new six person hot tub and a fire pit with wood. The cabin is located midway between the Twin Cities and Duluth on I 35. And just nine miles east of Hinckley on Hwy 48 in Cloverdale. Come and leave the stress behind as you slow down and unwind on the bank of the Bear Creek
I do have a Kerig available and a coffee pot. I will have coffee available but you may want to bring your favorite. There's a slow cooker, pots and pans...hopefully everything you might need. The furnace is new and there is a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the living room and smoke detectors in the bedrooms, along with a fire extinguisher in the kitchen. Towels Smart TV DVD player with a few DVD movies Wifi Hot tub: Please note That there is always the chance that the hot tub may need to be serviced during your stay. It can happen that after inspecting the hot tub when guests check out, we need to empty it, clean it and then refill before the next guests can enjoy it. If you should notice that the water in the hot tub has turn cloudy at all, please notify me right away. Two bedrooms: one with a queen bed the other has a full size bed. I do have a twin mattress tucked under the queen bed. There are spare sheets in the bottom drawer of the dresser for all the beds if needed. Fire pit with firewood
There are many activities available to do during your stay with two casino, a state park(largest in the state), a golf course, movie theater, museums, fishing lakes, fast food restaurants and bars all within a few miles of our cabin! There is a more descriptive list posted in the cabin.
  • Great little spot in Hinkley. St croix and banning state park a short drive away, or the casino is up the street. The hot tub was out favorite part! It's a Minnesota cabin so don't be afraid of additional house guests, Kathy does everything she can to keep the mice out buy keep your food packed up or in the fridge just incase. The beds are nice, the futon couch is pretty uncomfortable so do not expect to sleep on it, additional twin bed is a nice touch! Breakfast pizza in the freezer and a pizzaz is a thoughtful addition, tasty too! Case of water in the fridge was very nice, the water is rather "sulfrey". Would recommend and stay here again!

    Holly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cabin with the best hot tub in the Midwest!

    Charley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great little relaxing place not far from I-35 and the casino. Clean, comfortable and the hot tub was great!

  • This is a wonderful stay in Hinckley! We loved the location and how clean the cabin was upon arrival. The cute little cabin offered great amenities and the hot tub is a perk. Kathy communicated very well with us and we loved the atmosphere the cabin had to offer for a getaway from the cities. Overall, this cabin is a great get away and we hope to come back soon!

  • This was a great place. It was a nice quiet getaway!

    Lezlie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Quick getaway for me and my fiancée. Great location out of the twin cities only 1 hr 40 min drive to get to nature. Just outside of Hinckley so 9 min drive into town to get coffee. Place was very clean and perfect for just us two. The hot tub was amazing and seemed very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Owners have Netflix and Hulu and dvd and some good movies. Definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to escape the twin cities and head up to some nature. St Croix ST Park is only 10-15 min drive from cabin. Will stay again!

    Ray2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at this cabin. It is exactly as described and is just like the pictures. It is not a large cabin but it is two rooms. We are a family with a toddler and it worked perfect for us. We felt like it was a great price for the cabin with a hot tub. It is only 6 miles from the state park and we had a great time there. The beds in the cabin were very comfortable and the whole thing was very clean. It would be really tight if you actually wanted to sleep 6 people but there are enough beds to do it. We would definitely recommend it.

    David And Rena2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for a weekend to celebrate our Anniversary . The cabin is Cozy and Relaxing. They had everything we could have needed and more. Even put a Breakfast Pizza in the freezer for us. The outdoor Hot tub was sparkling clean. The entire cabin was immaculate. The fireplace was great to sit in front of and watch a movie. And tons of stuff nearby to keep us entertained when we wanted to go out on the town. We will definitely be back for another stay.

  • An absolutely beautiful cabin. Tucked away behind a tree arch driveway your first sight of the cabin was just breathe taking. Down stairs are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Upstairs has a bedroom and bathroom. Had a little hiccup and Mac took care of it immediately. Communication and response was fast. Verizon and AT&T were the only 2 cellphone service we had and that was about 1 bar. Short drive to stores if you need groceries. Big Box store 26 miles away. Remember bug spray as the mosquitoes are viscous. And bring your camera as deer come right on the property. No AC but a small fan in each room with windows open kept it quite comfortable. If your looking for a quiet getaway this cabin is a must.

Enjoy a quiet getaway in a 1936 farmhouse on 35 wooded acres. Vintage charm combined with renovations that make for a calm and comfortable experience. Located 10 minutes from the Willard Munger State Trail, and just 12 minutes off I-35. Be in Duluth in 45 minutes, or stay and explore the woods outside our door. Take in the wildlife from the screened in porch, or sit at the fire pit for s'mores.
We are located on a dead-end gravel road, and are surrounded by trees. The guest room is upstairs, and two main-level bathrooms are available for use. In the winter, enjoy the sauna and the snowmobile trail that borders our property. *Although many updates have been made on our house, some are still in process.
Our neighborhood consists of trees, wildlife, and trails in the woods. We are on a dead-end gravel road, and it is very peaceful here.
  • This was a great experience on our way to Minneapolis from Thunder Bay. Barbara and Barry are lovely hosts and a have beautiful home that I definitely recommend staying at. The location is a great base whether you are going North or South. We had great conversations with our hosts. They also make a great breakfast and have the cutest dogs that will give you all the love :)

  • Excellent place to use as a hub to go on trips up north. Barb makes an amazing breakfast. Very peaceful, lots of green areas and two lovely dogs. The bed and bedroom is top notch, and Barb and Barry make you feel at home. Sprawled out over 28 wooded acres, our Lakeside Resort is complete with a Great Lodge, cabins, banquet hall, chapel and hiking trails, and swimming beach and pier. We are 110 miles north of Minneapolis just off Hwy. 35. Close enough, yet a world away. Come join us.
Lake View room, recently updated, tall ceilings and picturesque windows, 32" flat screen TV, one king bed, seating area and a private bath. This room can be joined with the Lakeside Suite #1 to make a two-bedroom, two-bath suite, complete with kitchen and living room.
  • The view was amazing! It was a quiet and comfortable place to stay and we only wished that we could have stayed a bit longer to explore the area.

    Heidi2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great one night stay. It was extremely easy to use the kayaks and canoes on the lake. Hanging Horn has it's own private beach and the lake is very quiet which we enjoyed. The lakeside view was perfect for watching the sunset.

  • What a wonderful place! I wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first time booking through airbnb. I was a little concerned when booking because I knew I wouldn't get in until after 9pm at night. However, there was no need to be concerned. Charlie, the resort manager, was there to greet us, show us to our room, the breakfast nook, and a supply of movies and DVDs for our use. We were able to make use of the canoe's from the resort and spent some time out on the lake taking in a breathtaking sunset! Besides canoes, they also have paddle boards, kayaks, and pedal boats! We stayed in room# 2 and woke to a beautiful sunrise over the lake. It was truly beautiful and relaxing! I will always seek out this place first when coming up North, simply due to the amenities, beautiful scenery, and excellent customer service! Thank you for a wonderful trip!

Get lost in the woods! Located at the end of a gravel road this quaint secluded cottage is located on a four acre parcel surrounded by towering mature trees. This cozy cabin is a perfect spot to unplug and refresh. Located close to Saint Croix State park, the wonderful outdoors are just waiting for you to explore! Also a short 20 minute drive to Grand Casino Hinckley.
The cabin is small, and cozy. My young family of five enjoys the close proximity as a chance to reconnect, that we can't always achieve at home in the Twin Cities. We have come to look forward to our weekends away, and are happy to be able to share the space and experience with others.
Situated at the end of a gravel road the neighborhood pretty much consists of Nature, wildlife, wild berries, fresh air, and the starlit sky...
  • Cute and cozy cabin tucked into the woods. Great place and great hosts.

Would be great for a group stay, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay there with other folks. Would love to come back in the summer to see the grounds.

  • Julie’s place was absolutely gorgeous and away from everything in a good way. Every detail of the house and the room was charming and had an old classic feel to it. The place was clean and Julie herself made an absolutely delicious breakfast for us in the morning - I won’t forget those eggs! Highly recommended if you’re looking for a country get away from the city!

The Great Lodge rooms are all newly-renovated either overlooking Little Hanging Horn Lake or the woods. The views out the giant windows are second to none and showcase wonderful sunsets.

Tucked in the Northwoods, but still an easy drive to Duluth (30 miles) or Minneapolis (100 miles).
  • We brought our kids up after a good snowfall. We were worried there wouldn’t be much to do. They had games we could play and also found us some sleds that the kids used everyday! We had such a great time!

    Miranda2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean quiet resort tucked into the woods. We checked in late and someone was there to meet us and get us to our room.

    Maryn2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a nice little resort. Unfortunately we were just passing through, and didn’t get the full experience, but it looked like could have been a fun place to enjoy some lake time. We did a small loop on a paddle boat just because we couldn’t pass that up, but wished we had more time for kayaking!

    Jaime2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely place was restful, quiet and peaceful. We got in late but enjoyed the lake, paddleboat and chapel tour before heading out the next day. The bed was comfortable which was welcome after our long drive.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Hanging Horn! Accommodating hosts, clean & comfortable rooms, coffee & continental breakfast & gorgeous scenery were so very appreciated! Would not hesitate to book again!

  • Nice clean place to stay with a very welcoming host. Great accommodations with a pretty view and decent continental breakfast.

    Leah2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place is great and well thought out. Starting with the location to the the very well thought out amenities makes this place very cozy and comfortable. Al ot of it has been put on cruise control and self-serviced that gives you an impression that the hosts absolutely would like to respect your privacy and give you that feeling of 'Home'. There was a sitting area, needless to mention it was cozy, to a cute breakfast area where it had all the essentials items( not lavish) you would need to get by. The host suggested a food delivery place that would deliver right to your doorstep and that service was prompt and good as well. The resort's location- on one side is right by the lake and the thick woods makes it even more picturesque with all the Fall Colors, to just take a walk or even take some great pictures. My family and I absolutely loved it and would recommend this place to anyone who is wishing to spend some time in solitude away from the hustle and bustle. A big shout out to the hosts for really being a SUPER HOST.

Quaint cabin retreat, located on a secluded quiet 3 acres. The cabin is perfect for those who are looking to get away to a peaceful setting, yet close to surrounding fishing lakes, ATV trails, Nemadji State Forest, and hiking trails at nearby Banning (18 miles) and Jay Cooke (29 miles) State Parks . It is 45 miles south of Duluth, MN, which has various tourist attractions. There is minimal cell phone reception (depending on provider - AT&T does work).
Located on a quiet road with similar cabins close by on 3-6 acre lots. Please be respectful of neighbors as it is a quiet family friendly neighborhood.

  • This is a beautiful little cabin that is a bit off the beaten path! Inside is beautifully crafted with a full kitchen and is really nice to hang out. Outside has a great fire pit and is tucked into the woods. The one downside is the high level of insects that can occur in the summer (biting deer flies and mosquitoes) which limit the ability to be outside during certain hours. Overall a great house and we had an awesome weekend.

  • It was an amazing staying at Julie’s home. Felt like home as she was warm and welcoming.. upon our arrival she served home cooked desert which was outstanding.. and we loved the breakfast concept she has. The thing which I liked most was she redid the breakfast for me as I do not eat meat. If you are going to this location do stay at her house to have a feeling like you are at your home.

  • We would ABSOLUTELY recommend this perfect AirBnB!! We reserved the spot for a girls weekend! When we arrived we walked into a spotless space, a great welcome note with WiFi passwords and house descriptions! There were games available, plenty of chairs, a Great yard, and access to the beautiful lake!!! One of our favorite spots was the front porch where we spent almost 7 hours enjoying incredible conversation and then later in the evening the best laughs around the fire!!! The homemade pub tables and chairs were amazing!!! We cannot thank our hosts, Brenda and John enough!! We plan to come back annually, and share the space with our families!!! Thank you, again, for an absolutely perfect weekend!!!

  • A great place to getaway! We used this cabin (actually a really nicely appointed home) in the north woods as a place to bring our family together for a few days. Close to a nice lake, a short drive from good golf and a large yard that can be used for a variety of games with a cool firepit in back. The front and back porches offer great views of sunrises and sunsets over the woods too.

  • A beautiful, peaceful stay. It was a central meeting spot for our family between Duluth and the Twin Cities. The home was meticulously clean, ample beds and baths and the cutest noethwoods touches throughout. There was plenty to do on site between he horseshoes, bon fire, sunset watching, board games. The kids were thrilled to be able to play and run in the lawn and caught their first fish off the dock. Thank you for an incredible stay.

  • Eagle Ridge Lodge is amazing and Kent is a fabulous host! My friends and I enjoyed a perfect winter weekend using almost all of the amenities. We especially loved getting a ride on the monorail that Kent designed and built. This place is perfect for large group gatherings and has plenty of space for everyone to do activities together or split off into smaller groups. The property was easy to find and was very clean. The tower has great views of the surrounding woods and the creek. We look forward to coming again sometime!

  • The place is breathtaking! It’s exactly what my family needed in terms of space

    Clarence2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kent has ingeniously outfitted his deep-woods compound with amenities sure to spark delight in the hearts of children and adults alike. From the monorail that wends through the treetops to the heatlamp-adorned sand room to the handbuilt lookout turret to the wood-fired boiler room to the 2400-pound floating metal concession stand to the multiple photos demonstrating Kent's fishing prowess -- every way you look at the Eagle Creek Lodge, you'll behold some unexpected and fun product of Kent's fertile imagination and relentless work ethic. And I haven't even mentioned the snowmobiles, fat tire bikes, ice fishing and drone photo shoot Kent arranged for our enjoyment! This place is a one-of-a-kind fantasy land!

    Zac2019-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Eagle Ridge is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise! Whether you are into hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, atv riding etc, there is something for everyone. The house itself is amazing and the pictures do not do it justice. It is clean, well kept and very original with many unique touches. Kent, the owner is an amazing host and I cannot say enough positive things about him, his place or our stay! Our trip was to celebrate a buddies bachelor party and we had planned to rent snowmobiles up in Millie Lacs. Upon arriving, Kent kindly offered to let us borrow from his personal fleet of sleds. I truly cannot say enough about our experience.

    Taylor2019-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Kent's place was perfect! He is a great host! Watching movies in the theatre room is so cool!

  • Book this place now! You don’t need to look anywhere else! We thought we were going to have an amazing weekend and it was even better than we could have ever imagined. The fireplace, fat tire bikes, hot tub, beach theater room, and overall cabin was amazing! Don’t forget to ask Kent about how many times he has been struck by lightning, and the monorail! If that isn’t reason enough to book here, I don’t know what you are doing! Kent- if you are reading this, we miss you!!! -Abby’s Bachelorette Party

We saw deer and turkeys every morning and evening as we left and came back from our daily activities. The hosts were great and helpful. They even found us some supplies that we forgot to pack and didn’t want to find a grocery store to get them from. The kitchenette was “just right” to make a few easy meals. It was a nice place to getaway and have some quality time with my husband while we explored the Northern Shore of Lake Superior. (It’s about 45 min from Duluth). Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

  • Hanging Horn and the cabin were as perfect as described. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and found the setting to be peaceful and quiet. We made use of the well-equipped kitchenette, which we found to be a nice plus. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

This cozy cabin is situated on our hillside over looking Little Hanging Horn Lake. The cabin is part of Hanging Horn Lakeside Resort and has common grounds, lake access, pier, beach, fire pit, grill and canoes. Cabin has private front and rear decks with a view down to the lake and rear woods view. Complete kitchen with cook top and refrigerator. Cabin has full bath with walk in shower and linens are included.
This cabin is the only one set back away from the other units. So it provides our guests with little more privacy.
Tucked in the Northwoods, but still an easy drive to Duluth (30 miles) or Minneapolis (100 miles).
  • Great place to get away. Right on the lake where we saw loons and an eagle. Everyone was so helpful with any question we had. They even helped us unload everything from the car. Free use of kayaks, canoes and pedal boats really made our time on the water a lot of fun.

  • This is such a great place! Super cute and a nice place to relax. Not far from town so you can get things you need. The hosts really care about your stay!

  • We stayed in the super cute, cozy, private cabin 8. There were several other cabins on the resort, a fire pit with a few chairs outside our cabin, and lakefront access close by with complimentary kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, two-person paddleboats, and a rowboat for Hanging Horn guests. The resort and the lake were quiet, peaceful, and secluded, and the staff were friendly, available, and helpful. Charlie greeted us when we arrived and helped us haul all of our stuff from our car to our cabin. We are given a key to the cabin. Our cabin was very clean and comfortable and stayed cool and dry with the AC on. There was also a big box fan provided which was nice. Other amenities included were a small coffee maker, microwave, small stove and oven, small refrigerator, flashlight, bathroom toiletries, bathroom towels and washcloths, basic kitchen utensils and dishes, and a small charcoal grill outside. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of windows the place had, which let in a lot of natural light and lit up the place nicely. We woke up with the sunrise. The bathroom had a new-looking shower surround that had a built-in seat. The bed was comfortable and there was a TV with a few channels and DVD player in the bedroom. Charlie informed us that there were books and DVDs to borrow inside the main office building. I checked and they had a nice variety. There was also complimentary breakfast inside the main office. I saw oatmeal, cereal, fruit, juice, milk, coffee, and tea. The location is just outside of the city of Moose Lake, which is about a 35 minute drive from Duluth. We were conveniently close enough to Duluth but far away enough to be free of the hustle and bustle of the city. Only improvements we would’ve liked to have were: bathroom privacy (the wall doesn’t go all the way up to the ceiling, so you can hear everything) and blinds or curtains on both front and rear doors for privacy and to block out the sun. Other than that, the place was perfect! Bring your own bottled water if you don’t like the taste of iron, which is common for the northern region of Minnesota. Drive carefully and watch out for deer, which are most active during dawn and dusk. Highly recommend and we would definitely consider revisiting.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Hanging Horn for the Grandma's Marathon weekend & we had so much fun. The cabin we stayed in was clean, quiet, and right by the lake. The staff are so friendly and available when needed. As we learned, this location is great for hosting a wedding!

  • We loved staying at this cabin - it was perfect for a couple! Would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a peaceful and beautiful place to get away! And the host was very helpful and nice!

  • The cabin was cozy, clean, and adorable. We loved the small retro kitchen and the comfy bed. It was chilly at night, but the cabin was nice and warm. The back porch would’ve been wonderful if we had visited in warmer climate. It’s absolutely gorgeous in the fall and Moose Lake and Barnum are adorable little towns with Duluth not too far of a drive.
