Holiday rentals with breakfast in Sveitarfélagið Ölfus

I booked this room because I had an overnight layover in KEF and going all the way to Reykjavik did not seem like a good use of time or money. The check-in instructions were clear. The room was very clean and tidy, as was the bathroom. There was a fridge in it, which was a nice amenity. There was an occasional loud car (or teenager) going by, so if you're a light sleeper you might want to bring earplugs, but it didn't bother me. I was able to take the number 55 bus from the airport to the center of Keflavik, and the apartment was a short 10-15 minute walk from there. My flight in the morning was quite early, before the bus started running, so I planned to walk to the airport. There is a bike trail that goes all the way from the airport to Reykjavik. I would say it would probably take an hour to walk from Keflavik to the airport, but a nice local stopped and offered me a ride. TL;DR -- This is a great option for a few hours' sleep close to KEF!

I had an amazing experience at this Airbnb! Birgir was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The space was spotless, cozy, and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. One of the highlights was our Iceland story time with Birgir—his captivating stories gave us a deeper appreciation for the country and its culture. His passion for the environment was truly inspiring, motivating me to become more proactive about global warming and environmental responsibility. Birgir also recommended trying an Icelandic swimming pool, and we absolutely loved it! This was a truly memorable stay, and I can’t recommend it enough!

The host was exceptionally kind and welcoming, providing us with plenty of helpful tips about local attractions and hidden gems—we truly learned so much and benefited greatly from their insights. The room was spotless, well-organized, and very comfortable. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, making us feel right at home. Overall, it was a perfect experience, and we would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality!

Muy limpia y ordenada, pasamos muy poco tiempo pero era muy cómoda

This venue is very good. The hosts are very informative and give you all the attention you require. Their two assistants are also friendly, but as they have 4 legs and a tail (cat & small dog), they only come to you for company on occasions. They are well trained and will not bother you. The accommodation is large enough, and all amenities to make light meals are provided, plus there is a coffee maker ! It is placed just north of the capital, so it is easily found and is not too far from the airport. Overall this was an ideal opportunity to be next to local people who can assist you, but you also have your own floor of the building to yourself. The hosts offer various ideas for days out, and they print off A4 guides for you to take with you. The photo and video gallery they have is quite extesive, and their personal recordings of visits to the volcanos can be seen on request. Birgir and Björg offer a very friendly service, I fully recommend this option!

O apartamento é ótimo, bem espaçoso e tinha todos utensílios que precisávamos. Foi ótimo poder lavar algumas roupas. O apartamento está muito bem localizado, existem alguns restaurantes e um supermercado nas proximidades. Inclusive tivemos nosso voo cancelado por conta do tempo ruim e os anfitriões foram muito educados e solícitos.

Ganz tolle Gastgeber. Hier fühlt man sich direkt Zuhause. Es fehlt einem an gar nichts. Die Wohnung ist voll ausgestattet und verfügt über einen so gemütlichen Wohnbereich. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Ganz klare Empfehlung!

Great spot, close to all the great restaurants in the city center.

This is a perfect location if you want to stay in the center of the city. Everything is within walking distance. The room was beautiful and clean. The bathroom was tiny but served its purpose. It can stay loud until late due to location but closing the window blocked out most of the noise. It was a great stay!

Ylfa’s huis is echt een parel. Mooi van binnen en van buiten. Het is knus, ligt op loopafstand van het centrum en heeft alles wat je nodig hebt. Je hebt echt het gevoel dat je even in Reykjavik woont in plaats van dat je toerist bent. Wij komen zeker terug.

We only stayed one night passing through but it was a lovely spot! It's very close to the airport, easy to get into Reykjavik, and felt very home-like. The room was excellent and they even had a pack and play for our baby. We will definitely stay here again when we're passing through or staying longer.

Place was excellent. Comfortable. Exactly as described. Kitchen and bathroom clean and had everything you might need. Dagmar was super helpful and gave information immediately with updates day of arrival. Stayed due to proximity to blue lagoon and KEF and was VERY convenient. Grindavik is essentially abandoned. Don’t count on much besides gas. Locals were surprised we stayed there.

Chambre moderne, déco design, très propre. Hôte très gentil et aux petits soins avec ses clients. Très bon petit déjeuner copieux.

Pour notre dernière nuit, nous souhaitions être proche de l’aéroport. Nous avons logé une nuit chez Johann et Karen Leur maison est très agréable. La chambre est spacieuse avec une literie impeccable. Johann et Karen ont été attentifs au calme dans la maison car nous nous levions à 3h du matin. Le « club house » équipé réservé aux invités est génial ! Nous reviendrons sans hésiter lors d’un prochain séjour en Islande. Merci à vous deux !
