Karpathos is an authentic island, where tourism is just starting to arrive. We loved Diafani, the village where we were because there was only one supermarket and the rest were taverns. There was not a single souvenir shop and this for me is already a 10. The house was 2 minutes from the beach in the middle with very good views. A typical house of the island. We had a great time. Thank you for everything.

The apartment is really nice and the view is breathtaking. Nicola and his wife are warm and very nice people. John is their son which is not living there so the communication for the check in was hard and then after check-in he stopped replying me. North of Karpathos is amazing, you just need to organize yourself with gas ‘cause there is no gas station there, we had the scooter and we bought a tank of 20 lt for two weeks. There is no pharmacy either, so just take with yourself your safe kit. Everything is in Pigadia though but it takes one hour driving. Anyway, the apartment is nice, the village is amazing and the parents of John are amazing people and so warming, I definitely recommend the place. If I’ll back there, I would enjoy another stay in this beautiful location!

Maria's house was perfect for a 10 day stay, as we could drive throughout the island from that location. My Greek friend travelled from Chios to meet up with me, as she had always dreamed of visiting Olympos, a traditional village 39km further north up many winding, mountainous roads, but well worth a visit. We also had breakfast with the 90 year old neighbour who lives a short walk up the rough road and enjoyed quiet beaches around the island swimming in crystal clear, calm seas. The local mini market in Othos, a village down from Stes, was very useful, as we mainly cooked our own meals in the well equipped kitchen, (γίγαντες στο φούρνο, τραχανά, τουρουλουού, και πολλές σαλάτες κτλ) though we did enjoy fish soup, and the best ντολμαδάκια (domadakia) ever at Kyma in Pigadia, and delicious κατσίκι (goat) with super tasty onion and tomato stuffed aubergines in Olympos village. I also managed to paint three oil paintings on location, in the perfect 24-26 degree October sunshine.

Staying at Maria's place is a truly unique experience that will be remembered for a long time. Olympos village is a must-see destination, and I highly recommend spending a couple of days there to fully immerse yourself in the charm of this remote location. A few practical tips: be sure to pack only the essentials, as the parking area is about a 7-minute walk from the house. While the view from the patio is breathtaking, it’s worth noting that the wind can sometimes make it difficult to sit outside comfortably. Overall, I highly recommend Maria's place for anyone looking to experience the authentic beauty of Olympos!
