During the pizza oven experience (separate charge), you’ll bake authentic Neapolitan pizza, and in the evening, you’ll enjoy a BBQ and sit around a bonfire while gazing at the starry sky and the Milky Way. In summer, you can play in the nearby river and unwind in nature with a tent sauna (additional charge). You can cook together in the fully equipped, former café kitchen, read quietly in the library, or… You can spend your "favourite time" freely. The bath is a ceramic tub made of Shigaraki ware. Please relax your mind and body slowly, while wrapped in the warmth of the fire lit with firewood and the scent of cypress. Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
