“Super quiet, private and comfortable apt in a very welcoming, walkable, waterfront town. The lodging is close to lots of nature sites in the area and perfect for those who love exploring winding country roads. So much to see. In the apt. which has a steep set of stairs to reach, you'll find plenty of space in the large undivided room which was set up nicely for my four-night stay. Plenty of storage to keep your things tidy; plenty of natural light via windows on both sides of the room; a nice bathroom with great water pressure in the shower; some games, reading matter and movies are available too. The beds are super comfortable and you can control your own heat or a/c. A small fridge and microwave are in the room, but if you need an oven, larger fridge, or plates and utensils, they are located in the shared kitchen downstairs and across the parking lot. Billy is a delight to chat with and an excellent communicator with a fascinating history. His place is definitely on my list for a return visit.”
The Peace on the Pungo Guest House is a charming cottage built in 1927 and overlooks Slade's Creek on the Pungo River. The home has been recently renovated to capture its history and is the perfect place to unwind, relax, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This cottage is located in a secluded area with waterview and quick access to the Intracoastal Waterway. The local area is great for fishing, kayaking, bird watching, or reading your favorite book.
“If you want a quiet beautiful spot on the river then "Peace on the Pungo" is it. You'll find a charming cottage , comfortable beds ,and a well stocked kitchen. Brianna is very responsive to your needs or questions. We saw lots of deer on the drive there and a field of swans. We visited this area in the winter to see the Tundra Swans and Snow Geese before they migrated North , but I would love to visit again in the spring and summer .”
Private location(14 Acres) with access to many natural wildlife areas. A nature lovers dream space. A sportsman's cabin bar none. Columbia Boat Launch/Albermarle Sound- 5 minutes Frying Pan Lake- 10 minutes Mattamuskeet- 25 minutes Pamlico Sound- 35 minutes Nags Head Beach- 45 minutes A Bear Hunter's dream with adequate space for staking dogs. Ducks land literally in the back yard.
“The cabin was exactly as described and an excellent value. I was alone, but the space could comfortably accommodate 4-6 people. The kitchen is amply equipped, there is a VERY comfortable sectional couch with a large TV, the bedrooms are cozy, and the bathroom has been renovated recently. There's even a washer and dryer! I went to this area with the specific purpose of checking out the kayaking. The possibilities are endless, and the wildlife is abundant. Within the space of 4 hours on a chilly afternoon on the Alligator River, I saw 5 alligators, 2 very large black bears, tons of turtles and nutria, and at least two dozen bird species. The visitor center in Columbia would be a good place to start, but unfortunately it was closed to the public during my stay because of the COVID-19 epidemic. I can't wait to return at a better time and in better weather and to explore more of this wonderful, remote corner of North Carolina.”
