Cosy Countryside views/Woodburner/Dog friendly

JillyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a lovely weekend stay in Sarah and Marks beautiful property to celebrate a friends significant birthday. The house was one of the best air bnb's we have ever stayed in. Everything we could have wanted or wished for was there. The house is beautifully decorated, supremely comfortable, cosy and welcoming. It is situated in a quiet location with far reaching Sussex countryside views. We were warmly welcomed by Mark and Sarah who were around should you need anything but not intrusive. We can't thank them enough for having us to stay into their stunning home, everything was just perfect. Thank you also for the generous gifts of wine, eggs, birthday cake with candles, local jam, milk and the happy birthday banner, all of which were much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Luxury Spa Retreat: Sauna, Steam & Hot Tub

JennaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This Airbnb is perfect! True luxury with no corners cut. So relaxing to have the hot tub and sauna in beautiful, peaceful and private surroundings. The instructions before arrival and around the home made everything so easy. This has been designed with the guest in mind- comfortable, luxurious with lovely touches. Very child friendly and safe but equally a beautiful, stylish interior. The hosts have thought of absolutely everything and were excellent hosts. Thank you for the birthday balloons and cake- a lovely touch. We will absolutely be back. This place is almost too good to be true…

Charming Cottage in a peaceful and rural setting

GillRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Diana’s beautiful countryside cottage is nestled into the East Sussex countryside, providing a quiet and remote getaway, but within easy drive of shops and several lovely Sussex towns and villages. Beautiful walks in the area.. in the winter bring your waterproof boots and enjoy!! Great for a stay with family or friends, lots of lovely spaces in the house ( the photos don’t do it justice). We stayed between Christmas and new year, so we appreciated and enjoyed the abundance of coal for our daily evening fires, providing a warm and very cozy atmosphere. Very well equipped kitchen with enough space around the table for 6 or 7 people. All our needs were met. Well worth a stay, I would highly recommend this place and we will surely return! Gill

Red Gables Cottage

Sally’s place is exactly as described and a wonderful spot to stay in Whitstable. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with everything provided that you could need for your stay. The welcome pack of goodies was a nice touch and much appreciated. The house is a convenient 10 minute walk to the harbour, beach and town centre. I would definitely return without hesitation.

16th Century Manor Two hot tubs to star gaze

KarenRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We were a party of ten adults and one child staying at Martin’s home for the weekend. The property was superb, wonderfully decorated and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. The gardens were beautiful. We were lucky to be blessed with fabulous weather and made the most of it. We were also lucky to be visiting during lambing season. Watching lambs being born was quite an experience. I would highly recommend this property and hope to revisit again one day

Broadstairs Viking Bay Cottage (10) Pets,Parking

AdeleRating, 5 stars2 months ago
This house was absolutely amazing. It was spotlessly clean and had everything amd more for an enjoyable stay. Big digital tv's in every bedroom and a hairdryer in every bedroom. The rooms are really spacious and very homely. Emmy was so helpful and responded to my messages so quickly. The beach is a very short walk away so are the nice restaurants. Will definitely return.

Your guide to Kent

Welcome to Kent

Kent has a lot going on, from its rich pasture and rolling chalk downs to arty seaside towns and arguably the most famous white cliffs in the world. This southeastern county is also full of history, evinced in the cathedrals of Canterbury and Rochester, and the medieval streets of Cinque Port towns like Sandwich and Dover, and the Tudor splendour of Hever, Leeds, and Dover Castles (Henry VIII spent much time and money here). The conical roofs of its oasthouses are another traditional sight, responsible for drying the hops used to create some of England’s most beloved ales.

Nowadays you’ll also find award-winning vineyards side by side with the orchards that earned this region the nickname the Garden of England. On the coast, quiet fishing villages like Whitstable, famed for its oysters, are interspersed with livelier resort towns such as Ramsgate and Broadstairs, while Margate has become a destination not just for its family attractions but its contemporary art scene.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Kent

Kent’s floral beauty lights up the countryside from early spring, from the moment the bluebells come out and carpet its woodlands. It’s a lovely time to stay in one of the area’s holiday cottages and witness the county’s May Day celebrations. It’s also not as busy as the summer, when the attractions and beaches begin to draw big crowds. June to September bring the warmest temperatures and inspire a number of major music festivals across the region. Whitstable’s colourful Oyster Festival is held in July, and autumn brings its own celebrations of local produce, with a number of food, beer, and real ale festivals across the county. Come winter, Advent and Christmas services at Canterbury Cathedral are a major tradition, as is the Boxing Day Dip in the sea at Folkestone and Dover.

Top things to do in Kent

Deal

Considered one of the best places to live in Kent, Deal is a quirky maze of streets packed with fishermen’s cottages and Georgian townhouses fronted by a pretty seafront. Two neighbouring castles — Deal and Walmer — reflect its long history as a fortress town, while its promenade and pier bear the hallmarks of 1950s Britain.

Dungeness

Different from everything else in Kent — and, arguably the rest of England — this marshy headland is utterly mesmerising. Its lighthouse and decommissioned power station add to the surreal surroundings, as does Prospect Cottage, a quirky cottage and wild garden owned by a famous local filmmaker.

Tunbridge Wells

This spa town was particularly popular with the Georgians, and it’s still a smart place to shop, eat, and relax. It has its own steam train, which runs along the Spa Valley Railway. It’s also a great starting point to explore the High Weald, the scenic area of woods and ancient farmland that surrounds it.
