[House Story] This house was inspired by a childhood dream of living in a Nordic home.It all started with my longing for a cosy cabin like the ones you see in stories, surrounded by the tranquillity of nature. After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband Andy, took over a cottage that was due to be demolished just one month later. An old private house for rent just one group per day, surrounded by rivers and forests. Here, you can enjoy the time itself while wrapped in sound, fire, water, and stars. The music room has a grand piano, drum, guitar, and bass. In the pizza oven experience (extra charge), you bake authentic Neapolitan pizza, and at night watch the stars and the Milky Way surrounded by BBQs and bonfire fires. In the summer, you can play in the river just around the corner, and enjoy a tent sauna (extra charge) in nature. It is a calm, old-fashioned space that can accommodate up to 10 guests. Please relax and enjoy your stay with family and friends. It is about an hour by car from the city of Kyoto, and if you are coming by train, it is about 20 minutes by bus from Adogawa Station on the JR Kosai Line, or about 10 minutes by taxi. It is popular with overseas guests, families, and groups. We also rent out BBQ sets (equipment) for a fee, so please feel free to ask. There is free parking on the premises. Up to 3 standard cars can be parked. For large vehicles, it may be difficult to park 3, so please contact us in advance. If you consult with us in advance, we can also rent out space for a fee. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
