An old private house surrounded by rivers and forests, limited to one group per day. Here, you can enjoy your stay surrounded by sound, fire, water and stars. The music room has a grand piano, drums, guitar, and bass. During the pizza oven experience (separate charge), you’ll bake authentic Neapolitan pizza, and in the evening, you’ll enjoy a BBQ and sit around a bonfire while gazing at the starry sky and the Milky Way. In summer, you can play in the nearby river and unwind in nature with a tent sauna (additional charge). You can cook together in the fully equipped, former café kitchen, read quietly in the library, or… You can spend your "favourite time" freely. The bath is a ceramic tub made of Shigaraki ware. Please relax your mind and body slowly, while wrapped in the warmth of the fire lit with firewood and the scent of cypress. Spend time in your own space, not in a hotel, where no one will disturb you. Enjoy your time. A transfer service to and from the nearest station is also available. This is a private lodging [Kokoro]. This is a private house limited to one group per day, where you can experience the rich nature of Shiga prefecture and enjoy rural life. It is a nice, calm space that can accommodate up to 10 people. Please relax with your family and friends. It is about 1 hour by car from downtown Kyoto, and if you come by train, it is about 20 minutes by bus from JR Kosei Line Azumigawa Station, or about 10 minutes by taxi. It is popular with overseas customers, families, and groups. A BBQ set is also available for rent. We also rent BBQ equipment for a fee, so please let us know. Free parking is available on the premises. Parking is available for up to 3 regular vehicles. For large vehicles, it may be difficult to park 3, so please inquire in advance. If you contact us in advance, we can rent it for a fee. There are also plenty of outdoor facilities in the surrounding area, so please use it as a base for your activities. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
