The house is located on the Saale island of Gottesgnaden. Here the lock keeper lived and worked with his family. The house is a single monument and belongs to the lock. The lock is in operation and is maintained and serviced by the Water and Shipping Authority.

The house is situated in a traffic-calmed cul-de-sac. It can also be used for fitters/business stays.
