Les Terrasses de Beynac in the heart of the village

KelliRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Beynac et Cazanac is such a stunning setting and we were back for a second visit. Catherine's place is absolutely perfect, the pictures, although beautiful don't live up to the real thing. It is magical. The bedrooms are all lovely, comfortable beds, pillows and lovely linens. Each room has it's own charm. And there are 2.5 bathrooms! The kitchen is fully equipped and the living room lovely but we were so lucky to have a sunny and warm week in mid September that we were outside for all meals and most of the time. We were in the pool a few times each day and could not get enough of the view. Lots to watch on the river as it was full of bright canoes every day. Hot air balloons floated by most every day, some almost close enough to touch. At night the castles are lit up in the distance...simply stunning. The town is so historic with cobbled streets and medieval houses, no surprise movies are filmed here. But the best part is how peaceful it is, hard to leave. Great shops too

Authentic house with magical river views

The first thing to say is that Le Tibalou has the most enviable balcony in all of Beynac. Everyone wants a picture of the balcony. Sitting on the terrace, you will be the envy of everyone that walks past. You might find the attention annoying, you might find the constant bonjours annoying, but we loved chatting to everyone that stopped by. This is village life. The next thing to say is that Beynac is the best of all the villages along the Dordogne. We visited most of them. We were so happy to come home to Beynac at the end of the day. The final thing to say is that Frederique and Martine (the housekeeper and unofficial mayor of Beynac) are the most responsive, wonderful hosts. These aren't your typical absent Airbnb hosts. Literally every question was answered instantaneously and with humor, like how to reheat a French rotisserie chicken. Overall, the best stay in the best cottage. Would come back 100%!
