Holiday rentals with a kayak in Claytor Lake

PorchDays Lake house is PERFECT! The House & surroundings: better than described. Fully stocked with essentials you didn't know you needed or definitely forgotten! It's beautifully presented, extremely well thought out, loads to do to cater to all ages and interests. We were a family of 11 (5 adults aged between 81-40 and 6 children aged between 12 - 3 yrs old). My whole family had a great time on the lake, even the 81 yr old went kayaking. The Host: Jill was an excellent host. Thoughtful and timely communication before and during our stay. Tip: 1) Do not do a food/necessities shop until you've been to the house! 2) If you're trip involves going to other places, if you can end here, you won't be disappointed. We all definitely recommend this lake house.

Good location away from the town and great hospitality

Gina’s place was incredible! It was plenty of space for 3 couples and both the home and property were beautiful. We really enjoyed the access to the pond right out the kitchen and spent much of our time on the dock. The stars were beautiful and we were able to see meteors from the Perseid Meteor shower. We were in town for the Galax Fiddlers Convention and it was a convenient location about 25 minutes from Galax. I highly recommend this stay and hope to return soon.

Alicia was a proactive and responsive host to a great home that afforded a very restful stay. Amenities were the best we’ve ever experienced at an Air B&B. Coffee, snacks, toiletries, plentiful supplies and quality towels and linens added to the experience. The welcome gifts (a strudel from a local bakery and bottle of wine) were enjoyed and were a classy touch. We booked the home to relax with family over Easter. The home exceed all expectations. Highly recommend this home and host.

I cannot say enough good things about this place and the owners. Dave and Susan were extremely kind, generous and accommodating. On our first day we went for a walk around part of the property on a trail that Dave made. We were able to take the owners dog, Ruby with us which made it even more fun. We got to see the chickens and pony as well. The place is beautiful with everything you could possibly need. The decor was so pretty it instantly made you feel warm and welcomed. There are plenty of games if you decide to have a quiet night in. There are also a couple good breweries close by if you decide to venture out. Unfortunately it was chilly and sometimes rainy so we didn’t get a chance to go down to the river but it was a beautiful drive along side it. We are already planning to come back for our daughter’s VT graduation. Thank you Susan and Dave for a memorable getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was exactly what we were looking for. It was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed watching the wildlife in and around the pond. The home was spotlessly clean. We always cook when we are traveling and the kitchen was so well equipped for that. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life - this is the perfect spot! Alex was so helpful - communicated everything so clearly - and even allowed us to extend our stay when we hit a snag during our trip. I highly recommend Alex’s home - you will not be disappointed!

Ann’s place is by far one of the best Airbnb’s that I have stayed at! She has thought of everything for your stay! The home is sooo nice and the area is incredibly beautiful. The sunrise in the morning lights up the fields and trees with this golden hue and in the evenings the top of the mountains look purple. It is sooo quiet and peaceful. Food Lion is only a 15 minute drive and there’s everything you need to cook in terms of pots and pans and numerous spices. The Hot tub is great and is covered so you can use it even if it’s raining. The fireplace makes it so cozy. The art work is gorgeous! It’s the type of place that makes you want to experience it in all 4 seasons! We drove just 15 minutes up the mountain and it was covered with snow! You will love it! there’s a lot more here than what is listed- corn hole, ping pong table, footballs, sleds to name a few. there’s even a coffee grinder and cappuccino maker and a waffle maker and gas grill! The fire pit is great and omgg the stars!!!

We had a fun time at Chris’ lake house. It was very clean, quiet, and had all the amenities as described. Hot tub (with its private surround) was enjoyable during the winter temps. Ample kitchen supplies since there aren’t any restaurants around. Make sure to get groceries beforehand!

Thank-you Frank for sharing your New River get away house with us. We loved being able to drive back and forth to our nearby home in order to care for our other fur kiddos. I appreciate you being flexible to allowing us to bring Buddy last minute too. We didn't mind the train noise at all. Beautiful view on the front porch of the river, we really enjoyed how peaceful the place is.

This was my first time staying in an Airbnb in the mountains. I’m normally at the beach. I have never had a host go so far above and beyond what they have to do to make sure their guests are taken care of. This was one of the most relaxing places I have ever been. I literally heard two cars on the road during my whole stay. I have already added this to my favorites list. I was up there working so I will be going back when I’m not working and it’s the type of place where you stop and get your groceries on the way in and you never have to leave. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in my life! He provides bath salts for the hot tub, and then the sauna has all types of scents that you can put in your water. All the water in the lodge is springwater that comes directly from the mountain behind and I got to come home with my skin feeling so soft! If you want peace and quiet, David’s Redwood Lodge has it all! Excellent host with an excellent property!

We stayed here at the Hokie Home a second time and loved it even more than the first! It is located on a very peaceful section of the lake and we spent many delightful hours lounging on the top story of the dock. We also enjoyed eating on the decks and are grateful to have found a place that is dog friendly and has room for the whole family.

The place was more than what I expected. Absolutely beautiful and everything was well thought out. When I say everything I mean it. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could think of minus the food of course. The heated toilet seat was definitely a plus for the cold nights. When you walk out back there is a nice little waterfall that the kids really enjoyed. My fiancé and I took advantage of the fire pit which came in handy because it was rather cold for our stay. The bed downstairs was so comfortable, literally had the best nights sleep. I don’t think there is anything bad to say about this place. If you are looking to get away, this is definitely your spot ( I would like to add it is 2hrs plus from anything if you’re trying to get into any activities). Highly recommended!

Bob and Candy were awesome hosts! Quick to respond with any questions, and are very friendly. One of the best hosts we have ever encountered. The place is beautiful and recommended to other guests. They have equipped the place with anything you would need. Would definitely return. 10/10

A home before our home! We stayed for a little over a month. It’s a beautiful location with trails, beautiful wildlife, a pond and creek that was a fan favorite, and a fenced in yard to let the kiddo and dogs run and rove. It had everything you would need and is conveniently in between Floyd and Hillsville AND the Blue Ridge Parkway! Mr. Bailey was friendly, informative, and his dog Rosie is a sweetheart!

We absolutely LOVED this little cabin.. the views were breath taking! The home itself was a very nice, clean, cute cabin! Davin was an amazing host, easy check in, always so responsive! I would definitely stay here again. If your looking for a nice cozy cabin with great views, somewhat private and a great host you must pick this place!

These folks run a top-tier stay in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mts. My family enjoyed the getaway, and we soaked up all of the air and sun that we could! Simply put, we are already planning our return next spring. Thank you so much!

A really amazing place that we enjoyed. It was as described and one of the best AirBnb's we've visited. We had a family of 7 (3 of them teenagers), and we had plenty of room with the loft spaces. Everything was picture perfect and well done. We would definitely stay again. Close to Elkin (good restaurants) and everything you might need, but very private and rural. At night, outside, I heard no noises of civilization, just peace and quiet. We walked down the hill and swam in the river, which was a little chilly but lots of fun. Visited Stone Mountain State Park and Pilot Mountain while we were there. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful quiet private cabin in the woods with everything you might need. Stars are absolutely beautiful at night if you go while trees are still dead. Hot tub is in great condition, everything was perfect.

We were so pleased to last minute be able to stay here! The hosts were so helpful and very friendly. After enduring two significant hurricanes back to back it was the perfect place to unwind and find mental peace again! This was the cleanest Airbnb we have ever stayed at and definitely would love to return again in the future. Very much recommended thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful cabin!
