This is a private, single-unit rental accommodation in a secluded setting surrounded by nature. Time passes slowly, and every moment remains quietly in my heart. A rural landscape stretches out before you, and beyond it lies the beautiful scenery of Mt Hakusan. From the deck, surrounded by flowers, you can watch the beautiful sunset over the mountains. In the evening, gather around the bonfire, roast marshmallows, and enjoy a relaxing time under the starry sky. Enjoy a BBQ while listening to the sounds of nature. [House Story] This house was inspired by a childhood dream of living in a Nordic home.It all started with my longing for a cosy cabin like the ones you see in stories, surrounded by the tranquillity of nature. After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband Andy, took over a cottage that was due to be demolished just one month later. This house has been lovingly renovated, piece by piece, by my husband and me, like a work of art, to reflect the Nordic philosophy of connection with nature and to harmonise with the beautiful natural surroundings of this place. 4 km to Lake Biwa There is a convenience store within walking distance A large supermarket is also a 10-minute drive away. This is a machiya registered as a traditional historic building in Kyoto. Built in August 1914, it is 112 years old.The property underwent a complete refurbishment in August 2025. It is an entire inn in a quiet place surrounded by a rural landscape. A newly renovated private lodging with a Japanese modern bedroom and a user-friendly system kitchen, while retaining the good old features of the old private house. You can cook in the kitchen, and you can also have a BBQ on the terrace. We also have a wood-fired bath, so you can enjoy a relaxing bath time while being soothed by the scent of aromatic essences. The bedrooms are decorated with carefully selected natural materials such as plaster, natural wood and natural oils.The material itself controls humidity, and the air is always kept at the optimum humidity.I hope you can soothe your daily fatigue while being enveloped in the warmth of the wood.
