Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Lake Biwa

We were a group of 4 adults and thought it was great place with easy access to the market that's nearby as well as the gardens. The reference to the shrine also helped us when getting taxis. The stairs to the bedrooms are steep but we didn't have any issues with them. The washer/dryer came in very handy for us. The bedrooms are next to each other and separated by a door so you will have to go through one bedroom to get to the steps to go down. We enjoyed staying there and had a great time exploring the town !

We stayed at Shino’s place for 6 nights ， Excellent place and wonderful host! Central to everything around. Walking distance to the train station, in a quite neighborhood. The most comfortable tatami I have slept on!!!:) Shino and あおい is very responsive to our questions and showed great hospitality! Will definitely choose this place if I go to Kyoto travel again !

We stayed three weeks in Hiroe's house and it was wonderful. Hiroe is a fantastic host. I have been visiting Kyoto for forty years, staying in various places but this was the best. I hope to be able to return in the future and I highly recommend Hiroe's house, a very quiet place not far from public transport and the supermarket. Thanks Hiroe!

We loved our stay - this was the most thoughtfully arranged airbnb we’ve ever stayed at. It had everything we needed, from kitchen supplies to bath products to laundry (including detergent). The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the hosts were incredibly responsive and kind. They truly thought of everything, and we were so grateful. The location is perfect, walking distance to many sights and delicious restaurants. It was so lovely to stay in an authentic and cozy home. Our three children (toddlers and a baby) loved it as well, and the hosts thoughtfully included a high chair, which was greatly appreciated. We would highly recommend this Airbnb.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Yoshihiro was excellent with communication and very helpful. We received a lovely welcome note and basket of treats. The apartment is spacious with two tables to sit at and a kotatsu which my adult children loved. The kitchen has everything you need although we ate out as there are many restaurants to choose from. There is a nice Nepalese / Indian restaurant close by. There are stairs up to the property and inside, which everywhere in Japan tend to be steeper than the UK. The apartment was clean and tidy and had different towels available, the bedding, (December) was very cosy. The area around is modern with excellent pavements and there are several rail stations close by, JR Shin-Osaka is around a 15 minute walk and we used another closer station about 5 minutes away. We would definitely stay here again if we came to the Osaka area.

We had a great stay at Omoide! The house is beautiful and in a great location - easily walkable to amenities /shops and restaurants but tucked off the beaten path. We travelled with our 2year old and the house was very child friendly and the host went above and beyond providing books, stories, toys, high chair and crib etc.

very quiet location. comfortable sleeping on floor futon beds. be prepared to travel for a night out as local area is pretty quiet. however local Indian restaurant is good if you want a break from Japanese food.

10 stars. Excellent end to end. Flat is very clean and comfortable. Shoji and his wife are extremely hospitable and welcomed us very warmly. Internet is fast and stable if you need to use it. Flat has everything you need for basic cooking / meal preparation. Bathroom is a little tight but totally adequate. Location is in the center of everything in Kyoto. Book this place, don’t hesitate.

We had a lovely stay at this apartment. It was spacious yet cosy, got plenty of light, had a nice street view, was tastefully furnished and fully equiped (we didn’t cool but the kitchen appeared to be well equipped), and spotlessly clean. It was also very convenient to shops, restaurants and public transport, and was a refreshing break from hotel stays. May was very helpful and welcoming (she was even waiting for us on the street when we arrived!).

Nice traditional Japanese apartment with kitchen and bath in a quiet residential neighborhood. Quite close to Kyoto University (walking/biking distance). I had a comfortable stay for a week. The hosts Asami and Daniel are outstanding! They went out of their way to help me with everything. Will definitely consider staying here again.

Aika was a wonderful host and I loved my time in Kyoto. The place was very clean and cozy.

After spending a few nights in a hotel in Tokyo it was great to stay at May’s property which was spacious and met all our needs. May’s husband met us at the property and gave us clear instructions and recommendations for local dining options. It was a great location within walking distance to shops, restaurants, Nijo Castle and the Nishiki markets. The property had all the amenities advertised and was great to have washing facilities. Thank you for being great hosts!

My husband, young daughter and I really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. The apartment was clean and much more spacious then we anticipated. The area was extremely peaceful and quiet, just what we wanted 😁

Ken wins the award for the most thoughtful host. Every little detail to make sure we had everything we needed was covered. He even had toothpicks! Such a great location to walk to shopping and countless restaurants.

the house is cozy and the space was enough for 4 people. also it is close to many metro stations which was comfortable too.

Overall my stay at this airbnb was great, not too far from the bus stop, about 5-8 mins of walking. Most importantly a 7/11 at the corner of the block. Also a 8-10 minute walk to the store strip such as disney, apple, uniqlo, nike ect. The host did provide towels and wifi which is great. You have access to an elevator so no need to carry your luggage up the stairs.

Really good location. And quite at the same time. Had a really nice rest.

Great location. Lots of space. Good communication, very responsive. Bath was nice, and view out of the windows was a nice feature. Sometimes we could hear the noise late at night from the bar across the hall, but it wasn’t too bad. Definitely recommend.

Pretty close to the central street with lots of shops and cafes. Just 20 minutes walk to Gion and Kyoto station. The apt is clean and has everything we needed. Air conditioner worked perfect and it was really warm for january. Host is very nice and friendly, thank you!

Can’t say enough about Seth! Definitely the best host I’ve had through Airbnb over the years. We had a last minute cancellation from another host and Seth jumped in and saved the day. Going out of his way to recommend personal places to us that were all five stars, also not sure how he did it but he found a spot in Kyoto for us to celebrate Saint Patrick’s day with live music! Can’t recommend this host enough to all future travelers!

I was traveling with three teens. Everything was perfect. Lots of room. Loved the bathtub. Near a train station. The place is an authentic home. This is easy to reach for traveling and exploring but this is not into the middle of everything. It’s a bit away from central Kyoto. Bus is about 20minutes. We loved it
