Mettlenhof or the Mettlen Farm is a hand built, restored farmhouse in Mettlen, Schopfheim, Baden Württemberg. Rebuilt by the hosts with traditional craft and natural materials, it’s a light filled home for up to 10 guests, with floor to ceiling windows over rolling hills, Icelandic horses and Scottish Blackface sheep. Ideal for group getaways and retreats with no noise limitations or as a base to explore the Black Forest and the nearby borders of Germany, Switzerland and France.

Close to nature & stylish living in the old farmhouse

The apartment is in the small district of Karsau, which belongs to Rheinfelden (Baden). In an almost 200-year-old farmhouse overlooking our farm animals (horses/sheep/cat/dog/chickens) you can relax wonderfully. Basel can be reached in 20 minutes by car/train. Beuggen train station is within walking distance (1.5 km). Right next door is a children's playground and the forest with beautiful walking and cycling trails is a few minutes' walk away. You'll feel good at this cozy place to stay. A spacious outdoor seating area by the pond invites you to relax. 5-minute walk to the train station or to the Rhine bank 10-minute walk to the supermarket / bakery 15-minute walk to the outdoor swimming pool Quietly located and close to Switzerland and France. By car, you can reach Bad Säckingen, Wehr or Rheinfelden (D&CH) in 10 minutes and within 15 minutes to Schopfheim. Basel is accessible within about 25 minutes by car.

The resort for nature lovers is located in the middle of the Southern Black Forest Biosphere Reserve. Above the cloud sea of the Rhine plain stands our beautiful forest house. Start your hikes right outside the door on the Westweg, or mountain bike tour through the Black Forest. Take the S-Bahn (8 min by car) in 30min. To Basel, France is 45 minutes away, Freiburg an hour. Pfaffenberg is a small village at 700 meters above sea level above the Wiesen Valley with proximity to Switzerland and France. Our Black Forest house with a south-facing location offers up to three guests a cozy stay. The border triangle allows a variety of cultural and sporting leisure activities. I have traveled a lot myself, speak good German, English, French, Spanish and a little Italian and am always very happy about guests from near and far.
