Holiday rentals with a fireplace in Midlothian

A brilliant place to stay as a small family. It’s not slap bang in Edinburgh but all the better for it: blissfully quiet (you really cannot hear the airport), a genuinely beautiful garden to relax in, but just 5 minutes drive from the free park and ride, which is 20 minutes into central Edinburgh. And made all the better by hosting from Robert, who was super friendly, a genuine pleasure to chat to, but without being at all intrusive. Would firmly recommend.

We visited Edinburgh and needed a place to stay for the night. This place was a great choice—clean, comfortable, and located in a very quiet area. Although it’s about a 20-minute drive from the city centre, the peaceful surroundings made it worth it.

The East Wing of Islay House was very spacious and comfy. It was clean and tidy and did not lack any amenities. Sandra provided firewood for the fireplace and plenty of local information. The village of Pencaitland is quiet an peaceful with a shop/petrol station within walking distance and lots of short walks. There were lots of longer walks within 12-30 mins, including those in Edinburgh. Even better if: queen or king bed instead of double bed, description and external photos more accurately reflect that the accommodation is part of a larger house, and it is made clear whether or not both sets of gates can be shut to provide a full secured outside space for dogs. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend :).

We really enjoyed Kiera’s place! It was as described and well heated in the Scottish winter! The parking was convenient and the house was not far from public transport links into Edinburgh centre. Only note was most cabinets and dressers had host’s items in so there wasn’t a lot of space for our own storage. But overall a very nice space and good value for being so close to Edinburgh. Heathers place is in a lovely location with stunning views from the rear garden, the property is equally as nice , clean and tidy and the kitchen is well equipped, would definitely book again

Just the most idyllic place to stay everything was perfect for a relaxing weekend away and a place which will hold a special place in are hearts as I proposed to my partner and she said yes ❤️💍

We stayed at this property for the last two days in Edinburgh, and overall, it was a great experience. The property was spotless, clean, and peaceful, just as described in the listing. We had a really good time here, and the amenities and facilities matched what was promised. The bedrooms were spacious, the bathrooms were huge and clean, and the kitchen was well-equipped with all the utensils we needed, which made our stay very convenient. The property itself is lovely and well-maintained, and we felt very comfortable during our time there. However, we did face one issue during our stay. The heater was not functioning properly, and it was extremely cold outside, making the indoor temperature quite uncomfortable. We tried contacting the host multiple times, but the response was slow and unclear. The host kept insisting that the heater was on and there were no other options, which left us feeling a bit frustrated given the freezing weather. Despite this issue, our stay was pleasant an

We loved our stay at Newhall Estate. The stable flat was gorgeous. Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, quality linen and it felt like a lovely luxurious stay. Really close to Edinburgh but it felt like another world and we loved coming home and taking a walk around the grounds. Would strongly recommend.

Gorgeous property well situated for Edinburgh and surrounding area. A short bus ride into the city centre. Lovely homely feel so easy to relax in front of the log fire, or if the weather allows, to throw open the doors to the walled patio. Ps. The cutlery is in a draw under the table, don’t make the same mistake we did and think there wasn’t any 🤦🏻 Great service from the Joivy team though to help us locate it.

We had a great stay at Eva's place. Everything was clean and kitchen was well equipped- lots of space for 4 of us. I would like to thank Eva for a very fast response - my child accidentally locked himself out of the room and she sent a manager within an hour to unlock it. Really appreciated the response. the place is 20 minutes from the castle and was on our way from England.

Really enjoyed our stay in this large, private attached apartment to the host's home. Although we did not spend much time outside the home, there's a great sitting area with wonderful views. Host made sure we had everything we needed and was responsive to any questions we had. Bus stop conveniently located with 3 buses that easily reached to all the areas of interests in Edinburgh. Highly recommend this place!

We were a group of 6 and the moment we walked into house, we all felt like home. A spacious home with an outstanding interior design, super cosy. The kitchen was well staffed (best kitchen we‘ve ever had in an Airbnb). For the first morning David and his wife left us everything we needed for a proper breakfast. Thanks again for letting us stay at your beautiful home 😊 Absolutely recommended.

Entering this well appointed, beautiful home, there is a feeling of warmth and relaxation. The skylights bring in the natural light to the bathrooms. The Kitchen is modern and sleek, with everything you need to make a first class meal. The visually stunning, spacious backyard has a wonderful garden. There is a park just behind the house. My daily jog would lead me down to the beach. Here i would do a quick cold plunge- rejuvenating my body. The area is surrounded by a world renowned collection of golf clubs. The Longniddry golf club is a short walk and is a fun track. Thank you for being great hosts.

we have just left Howford house after a lovely 3 night weekend stay to celebrate my husbands 40th. we were a family of 14 adults, 2 children and a newborn baby and we had the most peaceful comfortable stay. the house is fantastic, it has everything you need and the location although super private and peaceful, it was near restaurants, the coop supermarket, Traquair House and land which we got discounted because we were house guests, and lots of walks and hikes. the surrounding acres were stunning with the frost and autumn leaves. we all loved our stay, the kids (and the adults) didn't want to leave. special thanks to Elaine the housekeeper who was brilliant with her communication and help. we will recommend and be back in the future.
