[House Story] This house was inspired by a childhood dream of living in a Nordic home.It all started with my longing for a cosy cabin like the ones you see in stories, surrounded by the tranquillity of nature. After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband Andy, took over a cottage that was due to be demolished just one month later. It's a very calm space with abundant nature, no car noise or loud sounds, and a private garden. You can enjoy a very rare open fire and a BBQ outdoors.The room has a firewood stove! (Winter only) There is a gazebo in the garden, and if there is no wind, you can have a BBQ even on rainy days. There is a Fire TV Stick! A BBQ stove and charcoal (3 kg) are provided at the listing, so you can enjoy a BBQ if you bring your own ingredients. We can accommodate up to 5 people. If you drop the firewood, you can enjoy an open fire! You can see the ropeway of Hakodateyama ski resort from the room. The inn overlooks the forest in a quiet villa area. You can even set up a tent to practice camping and enjoy a BBQ! The interior varies depending on the season. Local priority. It's in the countryside, and there are always insects because the mountains are close by. It is not suitable for people who dislike insects, those with small children, or those who are concerned. We cannot accept people who want to make noise or use the space for parties, or groups of minors who want to smoke or drink. ⚠️ There is a fence against harmful animals around the villa, so there is no risk of damage from bears. Monkeys will not approach you, but please do not leave food or trash outside.

It is about an hour by car from the city of Kyoto, and if you are coming by train, it is about 20 minutes by bus from Adogawa Station on the JR Kosai Line, or about 10 minutes by taxi. It is popular with overseas guests, families, and groups. We also rent out BBQ sets (equipment) for a fee, so please feel free to ask. There is free parking on the premises. Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.
