The cottage is located in a new development area, Gerstungen OT Lauchröden, on the border of Hesse/Thuringia. It is about 1 km to the former border area. A playground for the children is right across from the house. Directly in the village is the Werra, where canoeing can be done. There are several canoe operators in the area and in the village. Great hiking and biking trails to Brandenburg (about 3 km away) or the famous Wartburg in Eisenach (about 15 km away).
