Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

This bright & spacious suite is the lower portion of a two story house situated on the grounds of Shawnigan Resort.Amenities include indoor pool, sandy beach, protected swim area,water slide, wharf for fishing,paddle boarding,kayaking(no boat moorage)tennis,pickle ball,basketball,pitch&putt .This is not a waterfront condo however located directly across from the pool and a short(approx.2 min walk)to beach.Walking distance to Shawnigan Lake school, short drive to Kinsol Trestle & 15 min to Ocean.

Our tiny cabin is located on a 14 acres property in the middle of the woods. You will enjoy complete privacy and use of your own area on the land, including a pond. Located 2 min, from the Transcanada Trail, 20 min. walk to the Kinsol Trestle, a World Heritage Site with beautiful swimming holes right underneath the bridge. 20 min. to next Grocery store and 22-25 min to Duncan. Approx. 50 min- 1 hr to Victoria. Pottery lessons are available by request if you have always wanted to try it out.

A hop skip and a jump away from Shawnigan Lake and the Kinsol Trestle, our 200sq ft cozy dwelling is located in a quiet neighborhood, with many hiking and mountain biking trails near by. The room has a double bed with a pull out couch and extra bedding if needed. Brought a bottle of wine? Pop it in the mini fridge! The coffee maker is ready for your peaceful morning. Pictures don't do this place justice. Newly renovated guest suite with modern touches exhibiting beautiful original artwork. Relax by the fire, or enjoy the Shawnigan Lake, or watch a movie on a huge screen in the home theater, everything is close by. We are located 10 min walk from public beach access and the village featuring picnic tables and boat launch, variety of restaurants and coffee shops, and a local museum. We are also 15 min walk to the international school.
