  • Dai & Hila is a modern day shogun with their own rights. Warm, loving and downright sweet, their passion will uplift your mood, their skills in the kitchen will take your flavory senses back home, and their story, if you can make them tell you, will open up your imagination, with a fresh cup of green tea at your company. Then there is the house. The authentic wooden treasure they channel their passions into, and continue to do so in an unwinding journey of learning and sharing. You can feel the story of the lives that have lived in that shelter, the soft tatami floor, the comfortable futon, and the shade of light from the paper doors. The modern touches they put to the house completed the whole package; functional, without overwhelming the originals. As the listing title said: Don't miss this.

  • We spent 5 days at Hila and Dai’s beautifully restored traditional house ( check out the before photos!) They have done an amazing transformation - it is magical. The house, the garden, the river, the lush green mountains. You can walk through bamboo groves and green tea gardens, ride into the village and eat at the local cafes or just relax and enjoy the quiet. And Hila and Dai are wonderful, generous hosts - we so much enjoyed their company - the breakfasts are yummy and there was a delicious dinner prepared by Dai using local ingredients including their own rice and green tea. This is a very special place. 5 plus stars from us!

  • It’s officially “the best airbnb” I have stayed. I’m a big fan of Japanese’s tv series and Japanese anime, living in this house is just like living in a Japanese series! I love it. My trip got delayed so I arrived around 9:00pm, when my friend and I arrived, Dai and Hila waited us outside and welcomed us outside!! I like every details of this house, which will be the inspiration for myself’s house. In the morning, I walked a trail in the small mountain nearby, such a refreshment in the trip. And last but not the least, Dai and Hila prepared wonderful breakfast for us, can’t say enough good about it!!! I couldn’t stay longer than I planed but I will come again if I got chance!

  • Hila and Dai are great hosts! They think with you, are very caring and attentive and they hace nice ideas for activities. Beautiful traditional house! We loved the atmosphere! Lot's of things to do in the area. We hiked from the house, used the new bikes around to go to the tea house and waterfall and went to a nice cafe where they served local green tea. Dai makes a wonderful Japanese dinner served by Hila in the house. Very great!

  • Dai and Hila were incredibly generous and warm throughout our stay at their beautiful home. Even when a delayed flight meant that we arrived a night late, they did everything possible to help arrange alternative accommodation for us in Tokyo. Upon arrival, we couldn't have enjoyed our stay in their traditional house more. Dai and Hila lent us bikes to explore the surrounding countryside, and showed us a whole range of options, from a Japanese hot spring to a tea ceremony to visit. We managed to do both, and had a wonderful time. We loved two meals cooked by Dai and Hila, and greatly enjoyed spending time with both of them when we ate out together one night. We felt that our understanding of Japanese culture was expanded by our time here, and were creatively inspired during and since our stay. We would greatly recommend a stay at their home. Even on days when it poured with rain, we were perfectly happy staying inside the beautiful house, looking out at the surrounding landscape - surely the highest praise.

  • We had the most amazing time stay with Hila and Dai in their beautiful house. It was an amazing little oasis of peace to experience after the hecticness of Tokyo, and fantastic to see a bit of real Japan, away from anything touristy. The food they made for us was one of the highlights of our entire trip. They take great pride in the experience that they offer guests and will help you to plan your activities in the local area, if you want to. The location is beautiful and one of my best memories is waking up early in the morning and having breakfast on the deck outside in the sun. We stayed for three nights and found there was plenty to keep us busy, but at a relaxed pace. We can't recommend it enough.

  • We had a wonderful time at Hila and Daisuke's place! The house is beautiful, very comfortable and clean, with a beautiful view on the forest near the river. The location is great, beautiful countryside with Bambou forest, a nice river, and a lot of activities (fishing, walks, nice coffee place in the river, etc.) thanks to all the recommandations and advices of Hila. Everything was very easy and accessible especially with kids. The food of Daisuke and Hila was amazing and they were simply the best hosts! Very kind and available. You will find fresh flowers in each rooms, nice japanese ceramics in the kitchen and a fresh tea is waiting for you as you come home everyday! We warmly recommend this place to discover the beautiful japanese countryside!

There are no shops and restaurants in Ohinata, but it takes only 10 minutes by car to the central Sakuho town. You can buy everything at the central, especially supermarket Tsuruya and the next door farmer’s market have fresh and many kinds of groceries! Yachiho Kogen is a beautiful nature area which is 40 minutes away by car. It is very nice place for hiking to lakes and in forests. Some hot springs are 30 minute by car. It is not convenient for sightseeing in Karuizawa, because It takes over 1.5 hours from karuizawa to my place.
  • Daigo will go out of his way to ensure that your stay is memorable and ranks in the top of your airbnb experiences! You need to click the 'book' button for this one, you will not regret it

  • Daigo's cottage is beautiful and cozy with amazing sights. Snowing, stovepipe, live in loft...all the first experience. So excited!! Everything is equipped. I truly love the cottage, forest and neighborhood. Thank you for everything.

  • This magical mountain cabin is everything for those who want to go a bit slower and to appreciate the simpler things. Daigo and his mates have worked hard to create a very unique cabin which is both comfortable and stylish. It has made our holiday very memorable

    Dean2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • As great fans of cabins, we really appreciated the place and the environment. The "cottage" is really well thought considering space organization, water and energy supply. We only stayed 3 nights / 2 days to rest ; that was too short ... Daigo was a really nice, helping and open-minded host. He takes care of us but is discreet and respectfull as well. We fell at home rapidly.

    Agnes2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had the best time! Thanks for everything and hope to see you soon!

    Dee2015-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 3 nights at Daigo and Keisuke's hand built cabin and loved every second. It was incredible looking out at the mountains every morning over coffee. The cabin is cozy and perfect for relaxing, reading, drawing, reflecting. They really did a great job. The only thing missing was a bath! But luckily they had a great tool shed full of supplies and we are able to fix up an old wooden tub enough for us to have a soak one night. On our way to the cabin they brought us to a supermarket where we were able to stock up on enough food to cook awesome meals the whole time. There are no stores near the cabin other than a tiny shop selling sake and a few snacks. After we showed an interest in what might be growing locally, Keisuke took us on an incredible adventure hunting for their beloved spring vegetables. He helped us gather so many ingredients we'd never heard of. He also took us to eat Soba at a local restaurant where we really enjoyed watching the master, Otaka, roll out the fresh noodles for us. It was a great experience over all, and for those who want a simple beautiful space in which to relax in a very private space and feel inspired, I would recommend the cabin.

  • Diago and his wife were amazing! They made us feel so at home in the cottage and treated us like friends. They were so kind taking us to various places. The cottage was one of the most amazing experiences for us and we would definitely recommend the experience to anyone traveling to japan.

    Kira2018-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a beautiful time here. It was relaxing, we cooked our own meals, played cards, watched the storm whilst sitting next to the fire. It was magic and we were rejuvenated after. Daigo's was a brilliant host, helping us get anywhere we needed. A perfect place to reconnect with nature.

The building of the guesthouse is also used as a depot for my antiques business. The guesthouse is located in a traditional two-story building. It can have 4 guests. On the first floor you can find a kitchen, a living-room, a bedroom, a bathroom, toilets (separated from the bathroom) and the room in which the antiques are stored. In the kitchen you can find a stove, a fridge, a washing machine, a microwave and a dishwasher. On the first floor you can find two rooms separated by traditional sliding doors. The guesthouse has three air conditioners. The small garden is one of Kyoto's famous gardener's creation. I also have 4 bikes i can lend you for free.
Near the guesthouse you will find many shopping centers, supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants and bars for every budget.
  • Daisuke is very very nice and helpful guy. He responsed to my enquires promptly. The first day we arrived he drove us to the City centre. He could use (Hidden by Airbnb) translator to communicate with us without problems. The place is comfortable, clean and fully equipped with all necessary home appliances same as the description. The bicycles are provided free of charge and are in good condition. In sum, I highly recommend Daisuke's guesthouse if you visit Kyoto.

  • Daisuke-san's traditional house is really beautiful, the photos don't do it justice. The morning light coming through the sliding doors from the minuscule garden will be one of my best memories from Japan :) What's more it's been updated: the kitchen is really functional and the bathroom is very pretty and agreeable to use. The neighbourhood is charming and quiet, with a subway station just a few minutes away and bus stops for lines going to the centre and most of the temples. Daisukesan is the most helpful host, always offering to lend a hand, and his mother is a very nice lady. She was really welcoming, especially to our kids, and she even cooked delicious okonomiyaki for us! I couldn't recommend staying there more :)

    Anna2017-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • Daisukes house is a wonderful find, it's authentic, antique yet with all modern commodities. It's clean and decorated with fresh flowers. It even has a small and beautiful garden in the middle of Kyoto. It's located very central yet in a quiet neighborhood with a small playground on the corner. Supermarket etc a stone's throw away. Daisuke provided us with bicycles that were free of charge, we enjoyed the cycling so much and did everything by bike for days at end. Highly recommened. A true gem.

  • Daisuke and yukie are very nice and helpful. The house is very clean and well equipted. Neighbourhood is quiet and close to bus station. It's a great experience!

  • This was an awesome AirBNB experience in an antique Japanese Match House. The house was very large and had great cooking facilities and lovely modern amenities. The only challenge was sleeping in the front room on the upper floor; as light from the street enters the front room. This can easily be solved by sleeping two people in the downstairs room and two in the back bedroom on the second floor. The host was very friendly. Highly recommended. It was also a very quiet residential location.

    Chris2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Toji and Antique MachiyaHouse . The guesthouse was full of character and charm and was comfortable and convenient to public transit. Our hosts Daisuke and Yukie were wonderful. Quick to respond, polite, helpful and generous. Yukie met us at the Toji station. Daisuke’s mom prepared a beautiful fresh fruit bowl that was inhaled. Would recommend anyone traveling to Kyoto who want to stay in an extremely quiet neighborhood away from the crowds. Easy access to anywhere in Kyoto via train, bus, tax or car.

    Sharon 2017-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • It's a great experience to stay in such nice and historical machiya house. It's well kept, clean, and spacious. The whole house is well equipped and Daisuke was very friendly. Daisuke met us when we arrived, gave us keys, and a tour around the house. The kitchen has tea, basic seasonings, lots of utensils and tableware. Bathroom is spacious, new, and clean.

  • My husband and I had the BEST time! We came to Japan for our honeymoon and everything about this AirBNB was great. The hosts are so kind and accommodating and we're fantastic about communication. It is a traditional Japanese home, which is exactly what we wanted, it is beautifully decorated and sparking clean with a little antique shop in the front. We were even able to rent bicycles for our stay :) 10/10!!

We are fully licensed and registered with the city of Kyoto as a lodging provider. NEW OPEN ANNOUNCEMENT: Our machiya townhouse annex space is newly renovated and now accepting reservations. About this listing: Travel back in time at Kinse: 250-year history with modern amenities. The suite spans the 2nd floor, and has AC, soaking tub, wi-fi, Japanese futon bedding, and tatami floors. Easy bike/transit access to all Kyoto sights. (Please note: NO kitchen.)
Before booking, please read our entire description carefully to see if the space is a good fit for your needs. Our antique building is suited best to travelers who appreciate its quirks and care about preserving it for future generations. We are fully licensed and registered with the city of Kyoto as a lodging provider. The building began its life over 200 years ago as an ageya where geisha entertained, and then became a ryokan about 100 years ago. Now we only only take one booking at a time for the second floor suite, and the first floor has a coffee shop and bar. It has been officially recognized as an historic scenic property by the city of Kyoto. On the first floor, you'll find a western style room with vaulted ceilings and many stained glass designs dating back to the early 1900s. The space houses our coffee shop and bar, which is usually open from 3 p.m. 'til 10 p.m. (closed on Tuesdays and occasionally for special events). Periodically we host concerts and other events in the space--please ask us for details about events during your stay! Once you climb the stairs to the second floor, the three bedrooms, living rooms, and soaking tub are yours to enjoy after days of Kyoto sightseeing. The atmosphere downstairs is usually relaxed and quiet, so the upstairs remains peaceful for airbnb guests.
We are in a quiet neighborhood, which was historically a geisha district but is now a residential area. Our place is one stop away on the JR line from Kyoto Station. Access to downtown Kyoto (shijo street, gion, etc.) takes about 20 minutes by bus, 10~15 minutes by taxi, 15 minutes by bicycle. Nearby attractions: --Nishihonganji Temple, 10 min walk. Named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is a working temple where you can experience buddhist services early in the morning. Impressive wooden temple structure dating to 1591. In the neighborhood to the east of the temple you can find shops selling incense, rosary beads, altars, singing bowls, and other Buddhist items. --Sumiya Museum, 2 min walk: Learn more about the geisha district heritage of the neighborhood with a visit to this historic building and garden. --Central Market, 5 min: Kyoto's version of the Tsukiji Market in Tokyo. Walk around in the morning to see seafood, meat, and produce for sale. Look for ceramics and other Japanese kitchenware in the covered market area. Try a traditional Japanese breakfast at one of the local eateries. If you plan to go here, be sure to ask us for directions! --Japanese-style baths, 2 min: After a day of temple viewing, soak and sauna your aches away at a nearby bathhouse. Your pick between the "super sento" style place (multiple soaking pools and a rooftop bath) and a smaller neighborhood bathhouse.
  • Convenient location, beautifully decorated house, excellent local live music(check their (Hidden by Airbnb) page!), good whiskey and beer, you will fall in love with the house and Kyoto immediately. Thank you Kojiro and Seanacey. Hopefully we will return to Kyoto and stay at your house again.

  • all their previous posts are lovely and true...our stay was over the moon of already premeditated high expectations. when does that happen? i won't bore you by repeated commentary, but kojiro and seanancey were not only beautiful human beings but incredible hosts. the space itself with it's history were deep and rich. we can't thank you enough. 3

    Jane2016-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying here - it's unique, relaxing and fun. The great reviews from everyone else about the place are accurate. We particularly liked trying out the local restaurants suggested by Seanacey & Kojiro in their welcome leaflet - no one spoke English in most of them, but they made us so welcome & helped us choose great food using sign language & the odd word of English or Japanese, it was surprisingly fun and easy and the food was great. We loved the old lady in the coffee house just round the corner who made us breakfast and got out photos to show us of her tiny cafe & local geisha ladies having coffee in it. Using local transport was ultra easy too - the train station is very near, as is the bus stop - and both buses and trains accept the Passmo/Suica cards that we'd been using in Tokyo, so travel was quick & easy. The whole experience of staying here was outstanding. We ended up staying an extra day in Kyoto & had to book into a hotel which cost a lot more and gave none of the experience or enjoyment that we got from Kinse. We hope to come back some time.

    Neil2015-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our week-long stay at Kojiro and Seanacey’s historic and characterful inn. It was authentically, atmospherically Japanese—loved the light filtering through the shoji screens in the morning, and even the creaky wooden floors--without being too fancy or “packaged.” Definitely the antithesis of a regular hotel. The hosts were great, and gave us tips on where to eat in the neighborhood—local places off the tourist track that we would never have discovered ourselves. One of the highlights of our trip to Japan was an amazing dinner we had at a restaurant nearby, thanks to Kojiro and Seanacey!

    Ivan2014-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • All good things u read here(comments) is true. Quiet Location, Great Hosts, Unique Experience. The place was so charming so traditional, while the bathroom/air condition/toilets is in western style, totally balanced with modern amenities. I recommend this place to all of my friends Many thanks and hugs to Seanacey and Kojiro

    Xiaoyu2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything in the reviews are true! We couldnt find a better place to stay than this and regretted not having stayed longer. Kojiro and Seanacey were great and helpful hosts. Totally recommended!

    Mohamad Rizuan2013-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Both our hosts & the staff were quite helpful with suggestions & directions as well as being quite gracious.

    Paul2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Seanacey was an excellent host and made us all feel welcome from the time we walked in the door. She made sure to give us all the information we needed to have an easy stay. She gave us pointers on the neighborhood, where to go and where to eat. The inn was beautiful and traditional. The tatami and futons were the most comfortable we had slept on. I actually wish we spent more time inside enjoying it but we were constantly out and about. The neighborhood was very quiet and not much to do within walking distance. You pretty much have to take a taxi to the busier parts of town, but you do come back home to a peaceful and serene home.

Fascinating narrow streets with character are included in the surrounds. Good layout of rooms and well fitted out including well functioning WiFi and bikes. Useful information provided by hosts on Kyoto and transport. The listing and photos are accurate.

  • Our first time in Kyoto and how fortunate we were to stay in this beautiful apartment full of character. We loved how traditional this accomodation was, we truly felt like we were living like the locals. The location is amazing!! There is the most adorable balcony by the water where you can feed the ducks. Andrea was a wonderful host. He met us at the apartment to show us around, gave us a quick overview of Kyoto and suggested what we could do during our short stay. Highly recommended. Thank you Andrea & Mayumi

    Irma2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two nights in Andrea's house. It's location is very convenient to visit both old town with sightseeing and high street with many stores. And it is an interesting thing to feed ducks swimming along the river just under the balcony.

  • good location

    Yan2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is in the heart of Kyoto and is in a truly excellent location. The apartment really is very small, and you'll need to be a rubber man to get in the bath but this place is all about location. We stayed with two kids (11 & 13) and the only issues we had were with the need to be absolutely quiet due to the thinness of the floors, and the inability to self-cater due to a minuscule kitchen area. The hosts were very helpful in making suggestions about where to go and what to do. Thanks Andrea and Mayumi!

  • Very good description how to get there (and much closer than it seems to the trains!). The room is as nice as shown in the pictures! Very comfortable & clean. We had a great time there and I will definitely come back to that place! Little drawback is that the trains end early at night, therefore around 10pm you have to get on the trains in order to make it home w/o getting an expensive cab (we managed luckily in time :-) ) Also self-checkin is very very flexible! THX again! Great place!

  • Second time we stay here, another excellent experience. Kawano family is as nice and helpful as ever, and able to accommodate our ad hoc request in timely manner, we enjoyed the short holiday very much. The apartment itself remain neatly setup with all the essentials, the place is conveniently situated nearby train station with 3 convenient stores and 2 supermarket within walking distance. Yet it remains as a quiet, transitional Japanese style neighborhood. Highly recommend to anyone who wish to explore and experience Japan.

  • The Kawano's are very welcoming and friendly. Have no worries about finding the place or accurate descriptions of the home. It is nicer than expected. The neighborhood is really very cool and authentic with plenty of friendly places to eat and drink, as well as being close to the train station for quick trips to see the sights of Tokyo. Very quiet area with friendly people. Stay here and enjoy the experience, this is the authentic Japan you are looking to visit!

  • Extremely nice, communicative and accommodating hosts with a great location and probably the cleanest apartment i’ve used through AirBNB.

    Kenny2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • A bit of a hike out of Tokyo (more transferring/navigating trains involved than if you were staying somewhere central which can be overwhelming if it's your first time in Japan) but worth it to stay in beautiful accommodation and see a different side of Tokyo. Area is super convenient in terms of short walk to train station & supermarkets/restaurants - the nearby patisserie is especially lovely.  The apartment itself is immaculate and spacious, it was a really nice touch to have fresh towels every day and sheets changed every few days. Plenty of spare blankets and pillows in cupboards and the washing machine/dryer downstairs is also handy. Adequate kitchen facilities with good quality coffee and green tea provided. Great shower. Wifi in the apartment is excellent. All in all everything you need to be very comfortable.  Hosts were very helpful and responded immediately when we asked for assistance booking tickets through a Japanese website. They offered to take us out around Tokyo for drinks and when we checked out offered a ride to the station and also helped plan our train route - very kind and hospitable. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Kate2017-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • It's a very good space probably the most spacious and comfortable accommodation we had in our entire trip in Japan. The only drawback is the location as you need to change atleast two metro lines or more to get there. Else the hosts are very active and respond to you immediately check up on you everyday and very courteous even got us fresh apple juice one day :) Overall we had a good experience staying at Zen's House

    Asha2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The host's brother drove us to the train station in Aoto on our last day in Japan. The place was clean and spacious. There are some good restaurants within easy walking distance. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Tokyo.

  • We had a great stay at Kawano'S Family House!! The room is clean, warm and comfortable, very happy living here. Hosts are very kindly and helpful. Koji San & Nami San so friendly, let us feels like staying at home.

  • We were warmly welcomed by Koji and Nami in the Pine House. The house is situated in a quiet and friendly area and is fully equipped and very comfortable. The nearby station is very convenient to go to the aera of Tokyo sky tree and the to the rest of Tokyo and is on the line of Narita airport. Thank you Koji and Nami for this nice stay.

  • K & N are the greatest!!!! I love these guys! They were superb hosts. The home was in excellent clean conditions. They even left a welcoming gift. The directions to the house from NRT are excellent. Tateishi is honestly a bit far from downtown Tokyo and that is what makes it more genuine. There is a small shopping areas near the house. There is plenty of great "locals only" restaurants near the house. Speaking Japanese would make this much, much easier. No worries! Koji will make you install the (Hidden by Airbnb) Translator app! K & N also provide a mobile wifi hotspot for your usage free of charge. K & N also has several suggestions of places to visit with directions to them via train. I can't even begin to thank K & N enough. I will definitely visit again. An excellent example of why AirBnB is and should be a better alternative to hotels. Thank you K & N. Billy P.S. Many blessing on your upcoming life changing event! P.S.S. Easy peezy Japaneezy

  • We had a great stay here! Loved the local neighborhood which was very quite. Plenty of options for dining within walking distance. The space is impeccably clean and equipped with everything you need during your stay. Mr. T is the best! He offered us a ride to the train station on our departure day which was supper helpful. Highly recommend this accommodation for a family of 3-5. Incredible value in Tokyo.

    Christie2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Pine house was easy to find thanks to great directions from our hosts. It was so comfortable, with both a tatami room upstairs and more western beds downstairs. Both were lovely to sleep on. The neighborhood is so charming, quiet, and the place was accessible easily by a very close train stop. The hosts were warm and welcoming and we enjoyed meeting MrT. If you’re around for the weekend, definitely plan to go out bar hopping in the neighborhood.

    Julia2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Koji and Nami were very hospitable and extremely helpful. I must say that they have gone the extra mile to make my fiance and I very impressed. Firstly they helped us purchase the Ghibli museum tickets way prior to our arrival. Secondly, besides helping us to do the laundry, they have also folded them neatly. (We were really pleasantly surprised by this!). Lastly, and most significantly, Koji allowed us to stay in the apartment and use the facilities (including wifi) on the day we had to check out. As there was no one staying that day, and our flight was at midnight, his kind gestures saved us alot of trouble carrying our baggage around and finding lockers. We are extremely thankful for that. As for the apartment itself, it is very clean and neat. There is almost everything you need there! I find the hot water tap very useful as the normal tap can be freezing cold in winter. The only SLIGHT inconvenience is the bathroom where it is in the next house that you have to go outside and walk over (10 seconds walk). Nevertheless, it did not pose any problems for us as it is very close by (just a little cold when you get outside). Also, although it is a shared bathroom, it is very very clean! In the apartment, Koji and Nami also provided a clear folder with lots of information about the popular spots in Tokyo, and also what is around the neighbourhood, in English and with maps. It really helps tourists to get around and get to know more about the place. For the environment, tateishi is a very nice and quaint (as mentioned in their description) place. it is outside of the noise and buzzling of the city centre - which creates a very conducive environment for staying. There is also a large supermarket where you can get alot of goodies. All in all, my fiance and i enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you, Koji and Nami!

This house is a full house of Japan that my grandparents built before more than 70 years. Mother, and over to me and parent and child three generations I lived here. Revived it at the time you enter the house, it is very memorable important house. Jo
Our Japanese style house is a perfect traditional Japanese experience like no other. Our house is only 5 minutes from the nearest subway, in the heart of the famous places district in Osaka such as Tennoji,Namba,Shinsaibashi and Umeda. Also you could go Kyoto Nara Wakayama and Kobe while you're staying.
It is located in a quiet corner of the residential area. 24hr supermarket, large home centers, convenience store within walking distance, tavern, roast shop, okonomiyaki shop and so on. Cheese cake There is also the famous shops of the head office.
  • I can only recommend the "Korin-House"!!! It is really big and many People can stay there. The House is really beautiful and the Japanese-style is a must if you like it! When we arrived everything was clean and in the House is everything you will ever need (Cooking supplies and so on). Sadly we could not meet with Mariko personally but we were writing much over AirBnB. Maby next time ;) Mariko seems like a very kind Person.

    Jonas2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Korin house is exactly as advertised - warm, cosy and lovely. The traditional Japanese experience we had at Korin was really unique. We would definitely stay here again if we were to visit Osaka again in the future.

    Evan2017-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great home in an authentic neighborhood. There were great little shops close by

    Robert2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an authentic traditional Japanese accommodation, Mariko's place is your choice. The Korin House is a spacious historical building with a mini garden and can sleep up to 8 people (floor mattress on Tatami, very traditional experience). Mariko herself is a fantastic host who responded to inquiries promptly and made sure we had everything we need! She also provided a local Osaka guide telling us where the nearby supermarkets and good restaurants were. About the location - easy access from Kansai International Airport (well at least you don't have to change transport), 15min from Namba, 25min from Umeda. The neighbourhood is calm and quiet, still there's a nice bakery and 3 different supermarkets / convenient stores right next to the underground station.

    Elliot2017-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This house is really really lovely and it is totally traditional Japan house. We are really enjoy the time there. Mario is so nice person and prepared many gift for us. Thank you. We will booking your house again next time.

    Katan2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mariko's Korin place is a great place to stay. Apart from decorations and furniture in traditional Japanese style, it is also equipped with modern facilities so that you can live very comfortably. Although we don't know Japanese, there are easy to understand instructions in the house. Korin place is in a lovely and quiet area and it is only a few subway stations from Namba. Finally, Mariko is a very nice host. You will definitely love it. tp

This is a nice place to visit Kyoto, just near the river Shirakawa, a really nice place sometimes used for movies or series. The house is near Chioin, Kodaiji, Higashiyama, Yasaka shrine. Just near the house, there is an old market where you can buy and eat Japanese food.
Gion is a really nice place with lots of restaurants and where you can play. You can also meet Maiko if you're lucky.
  • Beautiful house, superb location and Seiko was a most terrific host. Will definitely be staying again.

    Carole2013-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was located in a very lovely backstreet next to a river. It was very comfortable and very beautiful. Super traditional ie shower room tatami mats and futon beds. Her Wi-Fi wasn't working so Seiko came to fix it when she couldn't get it to work she left a pocket Wi-Fi which was great!! There was a typhoon while we were there so we were late to the check in she couldn't meet us at first but came later to explain everything, very sweet. The only downside was that a bus or taxi was the only form of transportation, Kyoto it's just a little harder to get around then Tokyo anyways. The Gion area is very historical and magical I loved being with in walking distance. Seeing a geisha was a really cool experience. We would definitely come back!

    Ashley2014-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for having us and your house is amazing. Cozy and traditional. We also thank you for your kindness and sorry we left things behind but thank you for sending it back. We will definitely recommend your house to our friends. :)

  • Our five-night stay in Kyōto was simply wonderful. We looked forward to returning to the Maison Amanogawa each night after a day exploring the town. Seiko met us on arrival, and patiently walked us through all the details of the house, including deciphering the Japanese on all of the various appliances. This cozy home had everything we were hoping for. Highlights were the fantastic bath/shower, washer/dryer, quiet location, bicycle for errand running, and close proximity to Gion, Higashiyama, groceries, subway, and bus. Highly recommended. We will certainly be back to Kyōto soon, and look forward to staying here again.

    Beckett2014-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't meet unfortunately but the check in was very smooth and the apartment was great, clean and located to all the sights we wanted to visit. There is also a local shopping street, very good local restaurants nearby, worth the exploration. Visitors with heavy big luggages are advised to leave things on the ground floor so that they don't ruin the tatami. This was a perfect settings to enjoy the locals, practice my Japanese and stroll with my parents without the hordes of visitors.

    Angie2015-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Location is good, convenient and v pleasant, by a lovely stream. Apartment is a fine example of how to make a small space work. Host is responsible and always helpful with prompt responses. We had a lovely stay - thanks, Seiko!

    Kris2015-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were so pleased with staying at Seikos house. A wonderful little hos close to the main attractions in Kyoto. After arriving we were all thinking, we should have booked at least 4 nights at this house, rather than just two. We were 5 people living at her house, but this worked out just fine. There was a lot more room, than what one would get at a hostel for the same price. We liked living at her house so much that we ended up spending an afternoon just at the house relaxing, and hanging out rather than going out and looking at all the attractions. Seiko also had a bike that we were allowed to borrow.

Niho is a very nice person which will give you some advises for traveling in Osaka, as well as updating the information that may not be found in the internet. For my situation, she advised me to visit the Plum tree garden in the Osaka castle for seeing the blooming plum flower. It was great to listen to her advise and give me an unforgettable experience for this trip with her caring. Really a great experience to have a stay at Niho's place.

Help to make your stay in Tokyo unforgettable at surely one of the best homes available on Airbnb in the city. 5 stories of stunning light-filled modern accommodation located in a tranquil setting just minutes away from the charming Azabu Juban area. The house was designed and built in 2008. We used a leading Japanese designer / architect Baqueratta. They have created a beautiful house full of light and with a feeling of space. It has 4 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 9 people + baby cot in fine style. There are two bathrooms including an en-suite bathroom for the main bedroom. The open plan living, kitchen, dining room is amazing. High ceilings with large windows allowing an abundance of light while providing total privacy. It is a great place to cook and relax. There is also a roof balcony with grass and a BBQ area. Take in the local scenery while relaxing in this central Tokyo sanctuary. Floor configuration is as follows: 1F (note: 1F in Japan = ground floor): garage, entrance hall, traditional Japanese style tatami room, interior courtyard garden. For larger groups the tatami room can be configured to sleep up to 3 Japanese style on comfortable single futons laid out on the floor. The room size is approx 2.5 x 3m so a 3 guest configuration is probably best for younger guests. 2F: 1 x twin bedroom with 2 x single beds + 1 x double bedroom (bed size w150 x l196), WC, main bathroom with bath and rain shower. 3F: open plan sitting room / dining room / kitchen 4F: master bedroom suite featuring a beautiful Cocoon model bed from German bed company Ruf Betten (160x180) + ensuite shower room 5F: roof garden Note: we can also supply a cot.
With approaching 40 million in the greater Tokyo area this is the world's big daddy city and can be very confusing. Central Tokyo comprises 23 wards. We are in the central Minato-ward, which is high end residential, home to many embassies, some of the city's best eating and drinking and key tourist attractions such as Tokyo Tower. The house is in the Minami Azabu neighbourhood behind the South Korean embassy. The immediate surroundings of the house are very tranquil but the bustling and very popular Azabu Juban shopping street is just 5 mins walk away. This shopping street retains some old world charm while being located right next to Roppongi Hills and other large developments. Up the hill from the house you have the lovely Aruisagawa Park and there are also a number of nearby temples and shrines and the house is well located for Tokyo's more famous attractions. So you have peace and tranquility when you need it whilst also being surrounded by plenty of shops and nice restaurants: an ideal base from which to explore Tokyo. We'll give you a personalised guidebook with some our favourite local recommendations when you book with us. We are also happy to show you around.
  • This place is absolutely amazing! Complete luxury - the pictures do not do it justice. We loved the house so much that we found it hard to leave to explore Tokyo. The house is in a beautiful quiet neighbourhood, close to a train station. Richard is a fantastic host. He left us with a welcome bag with champagne and some other goodies - it was a really nice personal touch. He also provided us with a detailed guidebook full of tips on what to do in Tokyo. Thank you Richard - we would definitely love to stay here again next time we're in Tokyo!

  • The Minato House was the perfect home base for a week of sightseeing & activities in Tokyo with family & friends. Everything was made very easy for us, and Richard was very accommodating and helpful (he was there if you needed him, but otherwise gave us our space). Having the common area and kitchen to socialize was a great perk that you wouldn't otherwise get at a hotel. The location was great -- very centrally located and within a few minutes walking distance of lots of restaurants, shops, grocery stores, etc. Honestly, had an absolute blast in Tokyo and was very, very pleased with this house :) Thanks to Richard for helping to make our vacation such a wonderful experience!

  • Richard is a great host and we felt very much at home at Richard's place. He offers a nice breakfast and facilities and the room were perfect. His house is very very clean and it's very stunning and tidy, comfortable, so you shouldn't miss his house during your Tokyo stay. Good value for money ! And he recommended the best restaurants locally, like Matsugen's buckwheat noodles. He can give you direction to anywhere you need to go. A very nice place to stay !

  • It's hard not to sound hyperbolic when describing this truly luxurious home in Azabu. The bedrooms were beautifully maintained and comfortable, the bathrooms pristine, and the host could not have been more communicative and accommodating to ensure our stay was peaceful and convenient. I've been coming to Tokyo for 10 years, and I've stayed in them all-- from capsules and ryokans to the 5-star Park Hyatt in Shinjuku. Trust me when I say: This is the best deal you could ever ask for in the city. If you've got a group, this is the place to rent. It's a 10 minute walk to the Oedo and Namboku line. There's complimentary portable wifi for you to take with you. There's hundreds of places to eat and shop, yet still a quiet and suburban neighborhood. The kitchen has everything you'll need for omelets, coffee or even dinner indoors with your friends. The rooftop garden area is perfect for drinks and marveling at the surrounding city. The way light gradually pours in every morning is lovely. It's natural to be skeptical, as some airBNBs can "miss" rather than "hit," but this one I'll be coming back to as soon as possible. I have stayed in AirBNBs in many cities around the world, and never seen anything more premium than this.

  • Richard was a wonderful host, and the house indeed stunning with great bathroom facilities. As we had arrived on a morning plane well before check in, he met us at the house then and showed us the area to fill in the time. He couldn't have been more obliging and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. The roof terrace was especially lovely, relaxing in the Autumn sun and listening to the sound of birds in the middle of this high rise city. The kitchen was exceptionally well fitted out, and meant that the 6 of us could cook a proper meal at home, when we didn't feel like going out again after a hard day's shopping/sightseeing. The local supermarket was great too. Minato is a good, peaceful residential area in which to be based. Peaceful but not too far from the action either. Would definitely return.

    Juliet2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down, this is the best place to stay in Tokyo. Not only are the accommodations perfect in every way, Richard is the best host. After the very easy checkin, Richard popped over to show us the neighborhood and made some great restaurant recommendations that we enjoyed. We stayed here with another couple and we all said next time we come back to Tokyo we'd be crazy to stay anywhere else. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen/dining/living room area is a great place to hang out and cook. The roof garden is another great place to hang out and drink sake. The bathrooms are better than what you'd find at a 5 star hotel. We highly, highly recommend this place and we will definitely be coming back! When we were leaving Richard came over to thank us for the stay and he also managed to get to grab two taxis for us (in the rain!) so we could get to the train station for the next leg of our journey.

  • This is an amazing home and me and my 5 friends have a wonderful time staying there. The house is so well designed and comfortable. The host provided everything we needed from extra towels to extra sheets. The area itself was also very enjoyable with a supermarket, coffeeshops and places to eat just down the road. I couldn't recommend this space more.

    Rocky2015-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment fit our requirements. There were seven if us plus a baby. It's in a nice quiet area. Our host, Mr Dawson was very accomodating and made us feel welcomed.

  • Our family of three stayed for 11 days with Keiko and Kako. Hard to say enough good things about the experience and, particular, our wonderful host, Keiko. It's a real home stay with a gracious and engaging host in a terrific neighbourhood. We loved it - just loved it.

    Malcolm2017-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely time staying with Kako and her mom. :) The house was exactly as advertised, spacious and airy - seems rare for Tokyo! The neighbourhood is cute and just a short convenient walk to the subway, or nice stroll to Shibuya. Kako and her mom were also great hosts - super friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again!

  • After a long and tiring trip fm abroad i first did not realize how lucky i was being a guest of keiko and kako. i enjoyed a patient first hand introduction, lots of support and an adorable hospitality, all in english. the house is located in a quiet area but close to public transport and even shibuya square is in walking distance of abt 20min. the house is lovely, tidy and clean. i will come back :)

  • Kako and Keko San are wonderful host, they will make you feel so at home. They both love the arts such as drama, musicals, opera and classical music, they are more than happy for you to play their Steinway piano as well. And I am thinking to stay there again with my husband. If you want to stay somewhere close to shinjuku but off the beaten path, this is a place for you. Their house is only 5 mins walk from yoyogiuehara station and one stop away from shinjuku or harajuku. You can also explore shimoshitazawa 下北沢which is just one stop away where you can find a lot of small shops and interesting gifts.

    Amy2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kako and Keiko's house was a warm, comfortable and spacious trendy Japanese home. We loved learning more about Japanese culture from our lovely chats and the restaurants within walking distance from the house were amazing. The train station was extremely close. We would stay there again!

    Lauren 2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • So much of our stay in Tokyo was special because of Keiko. She helped us in myriad ways. There was always so much to talk about.Laugh about too! We even got used to sleeping on the floor!

  • Karawato CommunityCafe is a wonderful, cute and beautiful place to stay. It is a shame we only stayed one night at this beautiful house. Yusuke was very kind and patient and very caring even though we got to the accommodation later than planned. He made us a brilliant breakfast and it was nice to have a chat with him in the morning. The house is very close to the station and very neat and clean and spacious. We loved the pot of tea and music that was waiting for us when we got home. If you can, definitely stay here ! See you again soon Karawato CommunityCafe !

  • the house was carefully maintained and arranged in a very lovely way. I like Kaori's pottery corner very much! It's very convenient from the railway station Tsuruhashi (鶴橋駅), and starting from there, you can easily reach any hot sightseeing points in Osaka (there are JR line, Kintetsu & 千日前線). Both Yusuke & Kaori are super nice. Every morning i was waken up by the inviting smell of the breakfast. :) Hope I can visit there again in a short time.

  • Karawoto is a very special place to stay. My family felt happy to be part of the community that runs Karawoto. The Tsuruhashi Neighborhood is fascinating & we found yummy food stalls very close by. The Brekkie provided was lovely, both the Continental & the Japanese style. There was very easy access to the Rail System, including the JR Line. You do need to be aware that the sleeping arrangements are 'Dormitory' Style. The floor futons were comfy but if individual privacy is important to you, this accomodation may not suit. We'd happily stay again. Most importantly our Host, Hitomi & her Team were most welcoming & helpful.

  • Yusuke was a wonderful host and the community cafe was a perfect place to stay. We only had 1 night there, but I really wished we could have stayed longer. The space is beautiful, clean and has positive energy. There are so many precious details about the space - you'll want to spend time just going through the mini library they have. The place is very close to a train stop, pretty easy to find and Yusuke was super quick with his responses and kindly answered all my questions. I highly recommend this place!

  • We loved our few days in Osaka at Karawoto! The house is very nice, comfortable and clean. The upstairs space was huge--especially compared to some of the other places we stayed on our trip! The breakfast in the morning was amazing and the staff couldn't have been nicer.

  • Strategic place. Near to the supermarket, subway station Kuinabashi and bus station. Pharmacy, drugstore, market and a couple of restaurants within walking distance. We walked to Fushimi Inari Shrine (伏見稲荷大社, Fushimi Inari Taisha) from here. It was fun vs taking public transport as we passed by a university, railway tracks and a small bridge. The in house and portable wifi were fast and efficient

  • It is a clean place.

    Chiharu2018-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay in Himeka's home as my family had planned to stay in Tokyo for the first week of our trip, visit Osaka for a few days and return to Tokyo for souvenir shopping and catching our return flight. We were all familiar with Himeka's home and loved how clean, well equipped and close to the train station it was. We arrived a little too early for check-in as the cleaner was still in the house, but there was no trouble for us to wait outside the home since we were tired from hauling our luggage from the station. It's only a 10min walk from Hatagaya station (20mins with luggage) but it's a lot more convenient than catching the bus or a taxi. Once we checked in, we found everything in perfect clean condition. The two toilets were helpful and in use as soon as we got inside, one on the ground floor and one on the top. The living room is on the middle floor and shared with the kitchen. It was well decorated and I loved the cushions and paintings. The air-conditioning system has a heating function and was amazing, definitely necessary if you're not used to the hot or cold weather of Japan (there's one in each bedroom and in the living room). A little guide book was provided explaining how to use the appliances in English, which was a lot better than having to try and figure it out blind. The waste system is a little confusing as you have to separate combustible/burnable waste from recyclable waste, but there is also the non-combustible, non-recyclable material, such as various plastics or inorganic material that we didn't know what to do with. There isn't really a dining area, just a benchtop with 3 stools, and a glass coffee table with a couch that fits 3 people, but it didn't matter for us since we ate out at different restaurants during our stay. But there is a rice cooker and the kitchen is equipped with pots and pans so feel free to cook for yourself. In total there are 3 bedrooms, a double bed in one room and a single bed with space for a futon in another room on the top level. The last bedroom is on the ground floor with a bunk bed. There is also a tatami room on the middle floor that can fit 2 more futons for sleeping. The shower and bath is on the ground floor, adjacent to the laundry and washing machine. With 8 people, the washing machine was always in use. The shower was great, shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided. You're not supposed to wash yourself in the bathtub, the drain clogs very easily. The bathtub is supposed to be filled with very hot water, and you need to have washed yourself and be clean before you enter it so it can be shared, similar to an onsen. It's used as a relaxation experience not to...

  • Himeka’s apartment was clean, spacious and in a great location. We were able to easily walk to the train station and to local convenience stores. Himeka is a great host and responds to all questions promptly. We used Uber to move around town and strangely they could find the place for pick up but had trouble when taking us to the apartment, something to do with the pin locator? I would highly recommend Himeka’s apartment.

  • The place is great and clean. The host is quick response. You can find the convenience store near from near house. But if you are JR pass holder then you can not use JR pass to take the subway to Hatagaya you will need to buy a new Keio line ticket. The house is about 20mins walk from the Hatagaya station. We had a bit struggle because we bring a big luggage and 3 kids with us.

  • Kaori's apartment is easy to find, only short walk from Hatsudai station north exit. The apartment location at residential area so it's quite and suitable for the family stay. We can find some restaurants, convenient store and shops nearby, so you dont have to worry if you get hungry. Kaori is a super host, she is very helpful, always assist us with all the information we needed, we're so lucky can stay at her beautiful apartment. My Family and I (total 10persons) can have enough space, even it quite big for the rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and living room. Kaori had equipped her house with everything that we needed. Kaori's place is very clean, tidy, and it's smell very nice :) If you arrive or would like to go to Haneda/Narita Airport, you could use the Airport Limousine Bus that will stop at Park Hyatt Tokyo or Washington Shinjuku Hotel (you can walk and it takes about 850-900m from Kaori's house). Please make reservation betore you take the airport limousine bus for your departure (from Kaori's place to Haneda/Narita Airport). If you cant get availability for the shuttle bus, you could go by taxi to Shinjuku Expressway Terminal Bus (it cost you only (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Yen/taxi from Kaori's place). Overall, we are very happy and satisfied with Kaori's place and thank you so much for Kaori's hospitality and assistance during our stay in TYO. I would recommend this place to everyone who are l

  • This was by far the best Airbnb experience in Japan! Keiko was so hospitable and welcomed us with tea and homemade sweets. We were travelling with a child, and she even had an assortment of popular Japanese sweets for her. The night we arrived was peak cherry blossom viewing, so Keiko took us to her local shrine for Hanami, and then to her friend's temple, to view the blossoms in their private garden. It was so special. I have some food allergies and had struggled to eat out in Japan, so Keiko called a local restaurant for us, and organised the most wonderful meal! The flat itself was wonderful - really well designed in modern Japanese style, very stylish and comfortable. The area was great - lots of trendy little bars and restaurants dotted around the streets, 15mins walk to popular market/shopping arcades Shinsaibashi-suji, Amerikamura, Doguyasuji and Kuromon Ichiba Market. 50m from a metro stop, but we found easy to walk to Namba where we could use our JR pass. I would absolutely recommend Keiko's apartment, I will definitely stay again if I come back to Osaka!

  • Keiko's place is a hidden gem in Osaka. It has a great location, well decorated and furnished. The place is like a home to us in Japan! We absolutely love the little space. Everything we need is there, especially the washer dryer. The bed is fun sized too, just right for the two of us.

  • Keiko was amazinng, the house is wonderful. She was welcoming and was very knowledgeable and helped plan our sightseeing. The flat is modern and clean, this was the best place I stayed in Japan on my 3 week trip. Well connected by subway to everywhere. Highly recommend.

  • Keiko's very very nice, and the room is so beautiful, with all the things you need, such as washing machine, iron, kitchenware⋯⋯The location is great, near two subway stations. And there was a summer festival just one block away, it was very interesting!

  • If you would like to explore Osaka and the surrounding areas, you can't get any better than this! Close to cheap and accessible public transportation (subway, train and taxi!), near top quality restaurants all around and a super comfortably-spacious place to relax and recharge. Keiko-San was an amazing hostess with an amazing property, and she was extremely kind and helpful! If we ever visit Osaka again, we'd love to stay with her again!

  • The host did a phenomenal job at really enriching our first experience of Tokyo and Japan itself. The location was decent, with it only being one station away from Shinjuku (you can also get the line to other popular destination such as Harajuku, Shibuya etc). It was also another perk to experience k - town within Japan. The apartment was just as the pictures and descriptions informed. It was clean and stocked full of the main amenities - also left us with some complimentary gifts (which we really appreciate). The host was very responsive with replies (so you don't need to wait or stress abut asking questions) - and if anything the house manual cover everything very thoroughly making our experience a good and easy one. I would highly recommend the stay if you're ever visiting.

  • Beautiful, clean and well facilitated house shown how well Tomo (owner) take care for his guests. It's around 10 mn. walk from Metro line and have convenience stores (LIFE, 7)/restaurants around there so it's very convenience. The neighborhood is quite and safe (we walked back home after 11PM everyday). Tomo is very nice and try to support his best for us when we were there. This place will be first choice for next trip in Tokyo.

  • We loved our time at Tomo's house. It is very spacious - more than enough room for the 5 of us. The location was awesome, close to stations and much quieter than other parts of town. Easy to get around and Tomo provided a great map.

    Lizzii2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an extremely pleasant and wonderful visit to Tomo's place. It is a wonderful gem hidden close to the main lines going throughout Tokyo. The place was very clean and quiet.

  • The larger house with lounge was perfect for our stay in Tokyo, especially with three kids (13, 9 & 7). Easy to access both the JR and subway stations meant getting around this enormous city was easy. Supermarket just down the road allowed us to pick up daily supplies. Would highly recommend Tomo's place for a large traveling family.

  • Being so close to the Yamanote line is incredibly useful

    Ben2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great house. It was perfect for our family of four (2 adults/2 kids). There was an additional room upstairs that we never even used. It was cold while we were there but the house had great heaters. The location is excellent - just a short stroll from Otsuka station on the Yamanote line. Good supermarket nearby and a nice selection of restaurants. We'd definitely recommend this house and will return there the next time we're in Tokyo.

  • Tomo was very nice and responded to our queries very quickly. The house was a short walk from the station and was situated in a very peaceful neighbourhood. It was also close to several restaurants and convenience stores so we never went hungry. The house itself was very clean and had all the amenities required to make our stay a comfortable one.

It is the best location as a base of the sightseeing. Nearest station: Chiyoda Line "Yushima" 1-min. walk. Ginza Line "Uenohirokoji" 4-min. walk. (JR)Yamanote Line "Okachimachi" 6-min. walk.
    The interior decoration is Japanese-style.
Ueno, Okachimachi, Akihabara are areas on foot.
  • Hideo was very kind that keep providing the transportation information to us when we were approaching his place. Moreover, kid's items like body wash for young child, child-size cloth hangers and baby wet wipes, etc were also provided (we have a 3-yr-old child together). We felt very warm about this preparation. No need to worry about eating in the area as there are many restaurants and convenient-stores nearby. Or you could buy food and cook the meal by yourselves in Hideo's place. We felt very satisfied when staying in Hideo's place. We'll choose this accommodation again next time when we come back!

  • The room was Very clean and house keeper is very nice and helpful.

    Cheung2018-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Hideo's place is roomy and private with a nice little balcony. We had the shared bathing facilities to ourselves for the whole 4 days (they are just up one flight of stairs from the unit we stayed in). We were able to cook many of our meals. The neighborhood around the apartment is quiet, and there is a beautiful shrine and lots of little neighborhood shops and restaurants. You can walk easily to several subway lines, as well as Ueno Station, Ueno Park, Yanaka, and the Imperial Palace is 20 minutes by foot. Hideo met us out on the street to show us in when we arrived late in the evening. Great host and place for our family of 4.

    Danielle2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Hideo was a most gracious and helpful host who went out of his to ensure our comfort. The flat was is a good location close to stations, cafes and shops and had everything we needed. We had a lovely stay in Tokyo.

  • Hideo was a great host, very attentive and helpful. The department has a very good location, very near to Ueno station and Ueno park.

    Gerardo2016-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Hideo-san is a very nice landlord. The room is very tidy and large enough for our family(2 children and 2 adults) compared with other Tokyo's hotel. In addition, the room is with a mini kitchen, fridge and toilet. The location is good as well for just 1 minute walking from Tokyo metro line, Yushima Station. In a word, we do enjoy the 2 days stay in this place and i would like to recommend his room to my friends when going to Tokyo.

    steven2015-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • I have to say this apartment is 5 stars. Great location and room with everything a traveler needs. Right next to Ueno park and Ameyokocho and all the shops you will ever need,a must have! I didn't get to meet Hideo-san inperson but he will respond quickly. Thanks for a great stay!

Access Shinjuku station (15min), Nishi-shinjuku station (10min), Nishi-shinjuku station (5min), and other stations and bus stations for easy access to major cities. I'm always available and also I am running a restaurant (3pm to 24am) on the first floor of the building that I will be able to assist you whenever you need.
Safe and nice neighborhood known for one of the best places to live in Tokyo area. There is a Chuo-koen, or Shinjuku central park, where people have been catching rare Pekemons.
  • MyoRang is very caring and nice! The room is clean and comfortable :) nice to meet her and her husband!

  • Mrs.MyoRang was super nice and very welcoming. Also the location is perfect, you can easily walk to Shinjuku station. I am very recommend this house for your trip :)

    Jamie2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Myorang and her husband are lovely hosts. We were greeted on the street with gifts and a warm welcome. Any communication via airbnb messenger was quickly responded. Directions to the apartment are super easy to follow too. We stayed for 3 nights and found the apartment very comfortable and conveniently located on the west side of the Shinjuku Chuo Park. The room is a good size with lounge/dining and bedroom comfortable for two people and our bags. WiFi worked well. Showers hot. Generally an all around great place to base yourself for a tour of Tokyo. We also recommend Myorang's Japanese BBQ style restaurant, it was good fun and a tasty meal.

    Joel2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot - one stop from shinjuku station - easy access to rest of the city through the subway!

    Craig2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • MyoRang and her awesomw are awesome host. Their cute japanese apt is in a quiet neighborhood of shinjuku, but walkable (10-15mins walk) to the downtown area. Their korean restaurant is definitely worth trying. Couple other restaurants are on the same street, along with bunch of convenience stores close by. We highly recommend this (Website hidden by Airbnb) has everything you can possibly need. :)

    Harkiran2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • MyoRang's place was great! It's a very big apartment for Tokyo. MyoRang and her husband were very welcoming (even brining us a couple of beers on arrival and a breakfast treat on the day we checked out). We ate at their restaurant - really delicious and recommend if you are a meat eater. The location is pretty good - there is a subway station about 10 minutes walk away and Shinjuku station is about a 15 to 20 minute walk. It is on the quieter side of the park though. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Leah2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and cozy location. About a 20 minute walk from shinjuku. Great hosts.

    Connor2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ms. MyoRang and her family are the hosts who care their reputation and care their guests. Everywhere in the apartment is very clean, tatami, futon and bedding are comfortable, price is competitive. They offered me a lot of help, I want to say thanks again for her gentle husband and her beautiful daughter.

  • Hatakeyama's place is perfect for visiting Kyoto, close to the train station and with bikes makes it easy to get around, definitely recommend for anyone traveling to the area.

    Tristan2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very pleasurable stay at Hatakeyama's place for 4 days. Before arrival, he gave me very detailed information on how to get to his place, as well as tourist information within Kyoto. He greeted me upon arrival and showed me his place. The pictures in the listing are very accurate, and his place is very modern and clean. It is very close to the JR Hanazono station, so travel was made easy via train. His area is very quiet and safe, so it was very easy for me to come back late at night. He also provided us with a portable wifi, which came in very handy, as well as two bicycles. There were a couple small spiders in the room, which was not a cause for worry. However, the fridge was not plugged in upon my arrival, but luckily I had no use for it during my stay. Overall, Hatakeyama's place was very comfortable!

    Eric2016-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house was spacious and nice. Location was good as well as the neighbourhood! Will surely stay here again!✔️

  • We really enjoyed our stay at this place! All the furnitures are really clean & neat. It's located in a pretty quiet area. We also went to one of the udon shops he recommend in the guide manual, and it was amazing! Love this little apartment, will definitely come back if we ever visit Kyoto again. Highly recommend this listing!

  • This airbnb is so cute! At all of the airbnb's I've stayed in, the amenities at this one are the best. Everything - down to the first aid kid, the free bicycles available for usage, excellent pocket wifi - was wonderful. Communication was Hatakeyama was also really easy and check-in/out was a breeze. The location is also great as it's a quick walk from the subway and we biked to a lot of locations from the airbnb as well. I wanted to move in here and never leave! Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Kyoto.

  • Great location if you want to get away from the crowds / tourists. We were on a JR rail line so it was easy to get around using our JR pass and we had so much fun exploring Kyoto on the bikes provided! The local temple was also my favourite in the city and offered meditation lessons every morning. Winner. :-)

  • Jon was very hospitable and even picked us up and dropped us (Email hidden by Airbnb) fortable wood chalet in a nice quiet location on the coast amongst the rice paddies. Borrowed 2 bikes one day for a cycle along the coast and up to the lighthouse. Jon put a dinner menu together and cooked for us one night which was delicious.

  • We had a great time staying with Jon, he was super accommodating, offering to pick us up from the train and showed us around. His food was out of this world good!! Highly recommend getting his dinner and breakfast! His cat Alfred was amazing and the home is beautiful, perfect for couples or friends/family there is plenty of space and the location is a beautiful farm town near a river and not far from the ocean. Two thumbs up.

  • After travelling for three weeks in Japan myself and my wife decided we would like a quiet, restful day in the countryside before making our way home. We found Jon's listing and it looked to have everything we wanted, amazing location on Japan's Pacific coast with an amazing option for food and a few drinks to wind down before our trip. How was it? Fantastic, the only word I can think of to describe our stay with Jon. It couldn't have been better! Jon's home is as described, a beautiful spacious wooden visual feast tucked away in a forest on the edge of a rice paddy field. What more would you want? A good feed? Jon has you covered. We arrived too late on our first night so opted for Jon's fantastic breakfast and dinner on the second day of our stay. We were treated to Jon's summer starter and dessert menu mixed with his Spring mains. Every morsel tasted of his garden and the amazing locale. From a zesty gazpacho to juicy ribs, nothing Jon prepared could be faulted, amazing to the last bite. Jon is an amazing host, he'll make you feel at home the minute he picks you up from his local station. When Jon is cooking up his fantastic dinner, his housemate Alfred (the cat) will keep you entertained and failing that you can rely on Jon's hospitality to allow you to enjoy the fruits of his home entertainment system. I'd definitely recommend a stay at Jon's amazing home, if only we had more than the two days with him. Thanks for an amazing meal and a fantastic end to our time in Japan Jon!

    Brian2015-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jon was extremely accommodating, going as far as picking us up at the station and dropping us off (after stopping by a highly recommended coffee shop). We wanted a place to just relax, and Jon's was great for that. My only regret was that we didn't visit in summer. Jon's garden is perfectly setup to enjoy an evening outdoors. A large part of our enjoyment came from the fabulous meals Jon cooked. I can't recommend his cooking enough.

    Aaron2016-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • It's hard to put into words how amazing our time was here! The food, the house, everything was amazing; I can honestly say this was one of the best meals we had in Japan and the presentation was beautiful. The actual house is exactly as the pictures show and the theatre area was perfect after a long day of traveling. Jon was helpful too, showing us the local area and how to buy our train tickets back into Tokyo...Not only was he knowledgeable about the area, he also is a good comedian which is always an added bonus. :) My family of 3 could only stay for one day but we found ourselves wishing we could come back before our trip is over. Thank you Jon for your hospitality! :)

    Melanie2015-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time here! The location is away from the city, so it was nice and peaceful. Jon is a spectacular chef! The food was immaculately prepared - he has a special way with blending spices that truly impresses. The house is such a gem too; we really enjoyed the entire space.

    Kim2015-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jon is incredible! He was host, chef extraordinaire, chauffeur for the weekend, and now is a friend for life! We arrived at the station where he whisked us from the train station to a local Thai restaurant by the beach! Best curry this side of the Sea of Japan. After filling up we headed over to a stunning beach where turtles are know to come on shore and lay their eggs.... (too bad we did not have long enough as would have been a lovely night walk) Once back at the Enclave (after having visited the neighboring shrine (stunning)) we lounged in the garden with Bob (the outdoor cat) as Jon whipped up a 6 course meal which was (just think dirty thoughts)! Closed out the night watching the wolds best beat boxer on youtube on the projector (nice sound system)! Next morning the food debauchery continued with a brilliant breakfast, from where we headed to the local roaster / coffee shop (made on stove, old school!) before catching a swim at the local beach. Grabbed a quick bite at a local joint being dropped off a the express train station by Jon and making it back home within 1 1/2 hours. Incredible weekend of brilliant memories! A note to the readers - Over the years I have used Airbnb, and Jon has set a new benchmark and on which very few (if any) can hope to achieve! The Enclave is in a lovely location and very accessible from Tokyo! And Jon is brilliant!!! Look forward to heading back to Chiba!

  • Staying with Jon at The Enclave ended up being one of the best decisions that we could've made during our visit in Japan. Not only was he an amazing and accommodating host, but the location was immaculate. Jon was very easy to communicate with from the beginning, and responded within a perfectly timely manner. He picked us up from the train, even though we accidentally got off at the wrong stop. His house is full of a collection of cool artwork and decor, and it gives you a complete comfortable feeling. The room was a little bit smaller than we had expected, which made it a little tight with our massive amounts of luggage, but it was certainly not even an issue. The bed was super cozy, accompanied with a down comforter and an air conditioner in the room. Even a Bluetooth speaker in the overhead light! The property was a beautiful lush surrounding, including a garden, pond, and outdoor seating area with a mosquito net. Jon drove us around town, took us to see some gorgeous sites and temples, and even to 2 of the most amazing restaurants I ever have, and probably ever will, eat at again. A fantastic sushi place and a Korean bbq. He knows everything there is to know about Japan, so it was also a wonderful learning experience. Our final day at the Enclave, he let us borrow some bikes to ride to beach while he prepared our unbelievable 6 course dinner. His cooking is absolutely divine, and he made us a tasty breakfast every morning. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast, in fact, I hope to convince some people from back in the states to stay at this place in the future! Thanks Jon! Oh and by the way, his cat Alfred is the cutest!

  • What can I say that best describes our experience at Fusako and Ken's house? It is the best Airbnb experience I have had to date! An incredible Kyoto house with plenty of room and flourishes of traditional Japanese living, a brilliant location situated right near the action of Gion and one of Kyoto's prettiest temple districts, and all this wrapped up in Fusako and Ken's genuine helpful hospitality. We made use of the bikes available to us and their tourist information was very useful. We had a group of four and we all wish we could have stayed much longer at this great house. Thanks Fusako and Ken for a wonderfully memorable experience! This is how all Airbnb listings should be run.

  • Such a wonderful trip in Kyoto. Fusako and Ken are really nice guys. They provide a clean house and give us a lot of information about Kyoto, such as the information about transfer and where we can go there to know Japanese culture. Nice house and nice location! Thank u, Fusako and Ken, really nice to met u.

  • What an excellent stay! We enjoyed this super spacious and very well equipped airbnb. The traditional feel and look of the apartment definitely added a unique element to our trip. Very well located in terms of public transport with plenty of dining and grocery options around. Would certainly stay there again! Thanks for a great stay!

Sakura River View apartment is a suggestive 2 bedrooms apartment on the banks of Takase river fully licensed.
Sakura River View is a very nice private apartment that faces directly on the banks of the River Takase. Recently renovated, this studio apartment of 35sqm has two tatami bedrooms separated by sliding wooden doors. It comes with a bathtub & shower, a separate toilet and also a complete kitchenette to complement your stay. Each room has its own sliding door to the balcony from which you can admire the cherry trees just a few meters away from you divided only by the river Takase. If you cannot find availability please check our other upstairs apartment on our profile called New Open - Sakura River Side.
This area is simply great! (Off course no?!!) All along the river you will find heaps of bar restaurant and combini store.
  • The apartment of Andrea & Mayumi was a great place for us. We were able to go to famous places of Kyoto (gion area and kiyomizudera) on walk. The sakura river view from the balcony was wonderful. Around the street of the apartment, it is possible to find good restaurants and cafes. And Andrea is the best host. He was very kind and gave lots of information around the area. In case of having some problem, he kindly gave response. If you want to experience of japanese culture, I recommend the apartment of Andrea & Mayumi.

  • Thank you so much for providing us such a warm and nice housing! Wish we could meet next time in Kyoto~

    Saber2016-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea met us at the head of the street and took us to the apartment down a small side street along the canal. We quickly realized we were in a great location in Kyoto only a short walking distance to many interesting neighborhoods and temples. Andrea gave us an overall orientation to the city, good places to eat locally, fun places to walk to or bike to and some suggested places to go. We really enjoyed just wandering out of the apartment and bumping into temples and historic neighborhoods and finding great places to eat like the Korean Noodle shop just down the street. This is an excellent and central location away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Daniel2015-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this apartment is perfect! right in the middle of the new and old Kyoto area which allows you to explore the city even by walking! :D Andrea and Mayumi are both very welcoming and we get to meet their cute little son! Andrea spent time explaining not even the apartment to us, but also got us a map of Kyoto and highlighted many tourist attractions in advance and helped us to plan for the trip :) That was really nice of them~ The view of the apartment was nice, location is good! Only drawback will probably be the traffic right across the river (which should be low since it's a small path), but turn out the only night we stayed was a bit noisy even during midnight :( Other than this we are very satisfied with our stay! Thanks for having us :)

    Kenneth2015-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea's place was the perfect place to stay while visiting Kyoto. Andrea was super helpful and outlined all the best attractions (less touristy places too) to visit. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese style apartment and especially the deck on the river. Fun to feed the ducks in the morning! The area is really cool too- so pretty to stroll and get lost in between back streets. Would definitely stay here again!

    Ryan2015-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea & Mayumi were wonderful hosts -- this was by far our best experience on AirBnB yet. Andrea's personal walkthrough at the start and overview of Kyoto was a great touch: we followed his advice for our stay and had a beautiful three-day trip. The apartment itself was great: cozy & traditional, with the most beautiful balcony. This is one of the best locations you can have for a Kyoto expedition: centrally located within easy walking distance to the train station, and literally a 10-minute scenic walk into old town. Our only regret was not having a few more days to spend relaxing in this amazing city. Highly recommended!

    Drew2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic! Mayumi met us on arrival with a warm smile and a coffee table full of maps, guides and travel tips which got us off to a great start in Kyoto. The apartment is cute, spotlessly clean and perfect if you're looking for a more traditional experience; it could not be better located for exploring southern higashiyama. I'll be back in Kyoto for the blossom and just hope someone doesn't book Andrea and Mayumi's place before me!

  • This was the best house we stayed in during our entire Japan trip. It has all that you would need - spacious enough for a Japan house, beautiful setting with Kamo river right next to it, Gion (the traditional and cultural hub of Kyoto) area is walking distance, bicycles for driving around the river side are available, shopping district (Kawaramachi) is again walking. If all that was not enough, the hosts Andrea and Mayumi are awesomely sweet to make you feel comfortable, guide you in making your iternary, have sweet messages and eateries to welcome you and above all make you feel at home. We had our best time in this house, its warm enough for winters as well as quiet for a peaceful sleep in the night. We would definitely recommend this to people visiting Kyoto.

  • Cozy, convenient, clean, and friendly. Yusuke and his staffs were super friendly. Responding my emails before and during my stay were simultaneously. Downstairs kitchen has everything you needed. Yusuke speaks perfect Japanese, English, Mandarine, and Korean. Expo Hostel located in residential area surrounded by good restaurants, super market, and convenient store. Kinkaku-ji is one mile to the west, bus stop is 10 minutes walking to the east and can take you to all the scenic spots in Kyoto. I really enjoyed my stay there and highly recommend to everyone.

  • Perfect place to stay! They gave us great directions and was very easy to find. The hostel is beautiful, brand new and really well done. All the facilities and appliances were excellent. The hosts were very welcoming and have us a tour of good places to eat/things to see in the area and the bikes were really handy! Loved the area and the hostel itself, would highly recommend! ☺️

  • Awesome. Such a comfortable bed, great value. Might seem far from the train station (30 mins away by bus perhaps) but it's close to some tourist places you have to see in Kyoto.

    Tom2018-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The room is awesome, as well as the householders. They are so considerate to tell u how to travel by bus in the following days. You can buy one-day pass from them. They even have a cafe. A one-drink free ticket was given to me. But I have no time to go there. I think the food and drink are really nice from the picture. Additionally, the local map from Yoshiさん is really helpful. A fantastic journey in Kyoto. If I go there next time, I will definitely choose them again.

    Clarence2018-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean and warm place. The host there is really patient and helpful!Highly recommended for other travelers.

    Linda2017-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • The room is clean and spacious exactly as the pictures. There's a washroom just beside the room which is very convenient for someone like me who likes to wake in the middle of the night to pee.. =') The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful with lovely peoples and nice food. It is safe even if you walk alone at night. Walking distance to bus stop (about 5mins), to the subway (about 20mins). Easy access to the attractions in Kyoto. Although I don't cook, but their kitchen is really very clean & tidy. A very homely hostel, and helpful hosts, would stay again when I visit Kyoto.

Enjoy Japanese style with your partner, friends or family! Easy to access lots of major spots in Osaka, but you can also feel local town here. Convenience store is just behind and there are lots of nice local restaurants. Hope you enjoy everything!
・This house is on the 1st floor of an apartment; everything is on the 1st floor, so you don't need to climb up stairs. Also, the entrance is flat, and we provide steps in the house, so it's easy to stay if you come here with your grandpa and grandma. ・There is a big supermarket nearby, so you can cook in the house. ・We provide some stuff for kids; baby stroller, baby bath, baby soap, bed-wetting sheet, toys etc. If you need them, please let us know.
・This apartment is located in ''Higashimikuni''. Higashimikuni is a convenient residential town. You can find convenience store, local restaurants, laundry between Higashimikuni station and the apartment. Also, Higashimikuni is located in the northern part of Osaka, so it's safe all day. ・The atmosphere is not like downtown, so you'll see local life style. It would be fun to walk around in the morning. Also, there are several wonderful local restaurants around the apartment. I rarely go out from Higashimikuni because they are here. I hope you'll enjoy our favorite restaurants!
  • Nice and cozy house suitable for family with kids. However might need to walk abit but the host is able to loan us stroller.

  • My family and I had the best experience in Japan yet at Kazuma's place. The size of the place is perfect for our family of 4, with a common room that converts into a tatami sleeping area and a bedroom. The best feature of the house in my opinion was the shabu shabu machine that he provides which allowed us to have a cosy shabu shabu session with ingredients we bought at the market as well as the excellent Kobe beef and pork. Best shabu shabu ever. Kazuma was also extremely helpful in providing us with recommendations for food! His recommendation for Teppenyaki beef at Rio was spot on. The only downside perhaps is the walk to the apartment from the metro. But it's an effortless walk nonetheless. All in all, everything you can ask for at a bnb. Thanks Kazuma!

    Alvin2015-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • I chose to stay here during my trip to Kansai area after reading all the reviews that only had compliments about this house. My family (5 people) stayed here for 3 nights, and I dare say that I won't hesitate a moment to revisit here if I travel to Osaka again! 1. The house itself : It is a very clean, spacious, very well-equipped and very well-decorated house. You'll have everything you need here including well-working air conditioner(heater) and Cotasu(Japanese traditional heat-able table). We loved having beer every night on Cotasu. 2. The location of the house : I didn't want to find a place to sleep near the places like nanba or umeda where the night life is still active. Instead, I hoped I could enjoy the quiet and peaceful Japanese-hometown-like atmosphere at least for my accommodation, and Higashimikuni, where this house is located was such a place. The overall area looked safe judging by the reviews and the good models of cars parked. Also it is only 4 stations from Umeda on midosuji line which takes less than 10 minutes to Umeda. Familymart (cvs) stands right next to (literally right next to!) this house. (But ministop on the way to the house from higashimikuni station is cheaper than the familymart haha) 3. The friendliness of the host : This point made our trip even more wonderful and that is especially why I'm writing this review. The host gives directions you need including the way to come to the house with pdf files full of kindly explaining pictures. The host family helped us so kindly with our early arrival and places to dine in Dotonbori when I asked. Also they checked every morning if we had any problem during the night or not, which was sooo kind as well :) So now, why would I ever hesitate to recommend this house? This tatami house and family Kazuma made my ever-first trip to Japan successful. (Every single person in our family loved the house as I did :) )

  • Thank you Kazuma San for the wonderful stay.

    Shanice2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Everything in the description was as advertised. We met Kazuma and his dad. His dad was awesome, by the way. He met us at the station. It was quite a walk from the station: maybe 5-10 minutes, depending on how fast you're going. They responded quickly and they're very thorough regarding how to get there. We love the place and we hope to stay there the next time we visit Osaka.
